Just recd call a second ago - didn't answer. This along with other calls are now coming - unsure why. I ended up with the WebSearch virus and Yellow Moxie Search engine attached. That is perhaps why. Other numbers are 1-646-630-0031 - scam Manhattan saw online - didn't answer any.

I HAD THIS PERSON FAX ME DETAILS OF THEIR PROPOSAL. FAX SHOWS MERCHANT/DIRECT CASH AS COMPANY. USES A MONTREAL AND NEW YORK CITY ADDRESSES. PHONE NUMBER IS BUFFALO NY AREA CODE. I FEEL THIS IS A SUSPICIOUS SOLICITATION. DO NOT SEND BACK ANY INFO ON YOUR VISA/M/C/DEBIT ACCOUNT.

A gentleman called to confirm reception a fax I sent to the Canadian Merchant Association...except the area code is for New York...

How is it a Scam?

I received a call from 503-376-6792 from a guy his name is "Dan" - I was polite told him no thank you and hung up.  He called back 3 times from the same number, at each time I hung up - then he called me from another number that showed up on caller ID as Eric Miller 503-689-0246 and proceeded to berate me for having not given him the courtesy, blah blah blah, that he received an inquiry - I told him I am the owner and that no one else works here to have made an inquiry, that we are a buiness and not to call back, and he kept on - he called 2x more from the original number, I told him if he calls again I am calling the police and the attorney general's office for telephone harrassment

of course they will told you that because they don't want you to switch and leave them with nothing for a better company!!!!!

no all of you are wrong because CANADIAN MERCHANT ASSOCIATION is helping me out in my business and we have a great relationship with them and this is my chance to thank all who helped me ALEX HANS, SETH DAVIS AND MATT JENKINS this people is kind and family related persons i think the people who contacted you is not the right company they save me a lot of money and they are better than moneris or other companies that is claiming that they can make our lives better.

I received call from Canadian Merchant Association, Tangarine Merchants, Vizex, Visa Payment Canada. All from the same person, they don't even know what company they work for.
Do not send them anything, they are very pushy on getting you to send them merchant statement. I asked for web site, told "under construction", asked for something in the mail, NO, faxed me generic letter with no return phone number or address.

AFTER WEEKLY PHONE CALLS AND FEELING SO FRUSTRATED I ASKED FOR THERE FAX NUMBER AND THEN MADE 10 COPIES OF A LETTER EXPLAINING TO THEM EVERY TIME THEY CALLED ME I WOULD SEND THEM 50 FAXES.  
THE FIRST WEEK THEY CALLED AND I SENT THEM 50 FAXES ASKING THEM TO TAKE ME OFF THEIR LIST.  DIDN'T WORK
THE NEXT WEEK WHEN THEY CALLED I SENT THEM 100 FAXES WITH THE SAME MESSAGE, ASKING THEM TO STOP CALLING AND IT WORKED!!!!!
I GUESS HAMMER AND NAILS IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS GOING TO WORK WITH THESE IDIOTS!!!!!

I received a call from the Canadian Merchant Association and they ran
me through the standard gambit much like all of the other posts . When I said that I was not the right person to deal with it was suggested that all I needed to do if fax a copy of my statement to see if I was eligible for the 30% savings.

Just received a call from this number, didn't answer, I googled the number and found this. Was wondering if anyone else like me signed up for THE TORONTO STAR subcripion? I signed up about 2 weeks ago and since 3 sets of different long distance number been calling me. I googled all of the numbers and found similar complaints.

The same number called 2 mins apart even when no one answered, then I turned on my fax machine the second time and that number staopped calling. Will do the same for all of them.

Like all of the folks above, my business has been swamped with dozens of calls from these people, the latest - this morning - enough is enough - with each additional call, I become more upset and would never ever do business with them.  I don't know how anyone would think that more harassing calls will do the trick.  I tried looking them up on the Internet - site under construction, I tried calling - no person answering - I wanted to leave a message - mailbox full.  Each time they call, I ask to be removed from their list - they call the next day!  No honest business would ever conduct themselves this way.

These people have started calling me lately.  Just a couple of things I wanted to mention to everyone.  You should NEVER give out your merchant statements to anyone.  A legitimate merchant services provider won't ask for it.  So if someone calls asking for it, you should assume it's a scam of some sort.  And if Canadian Merchant Group, or any other company for that matter, calls you and you tell them to remove you from their calling list, by CRTC regulations they are legally required to remove your number within 30 days.  Take note of the date and time that you request to be removed, and the name of the person you spoke to, and if after 31 days they call again, you should contact your phone company to file a complaint or you can contact the CRTC directly, here's the link:  http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/telephone.htm

But I've found just telling the telemarketer that you're going to call the CRTC if they keep calling is enough to get them to stop.

MY valid merchant rep told me that they just start pulling $$$$$ out of your account - even if you haven't processed any debit or credit card purchases!  He told me specifically of one incident where a clients account was debited $1400.00 in two days and the business had not made any sales over those two weeks never mind two days!  HUGE SCAM!!!! These people should be in jail!

Caller called himself Morgan. Claimed to be able to drop my rates by 30%!  He claimed to be calling from Montreal, but the phone showed California.  Insisted that I fax him my merchant and banking info right then and there.  I hung up & called my bank --  These guys are a FRAUD!!!!  AND CURRENTLY HAVE LEGAL SUITS PENDING AGAINGST THEM!!!  This guy called me back three times after I hung up and I told him that I knew this was a fraud - he claimed that I misunderstood him!!!!  The phone number showed up 909-685-4145 and the fax number was 88-2749-2007.   I had to threaten to file harrasment charges to get him to quit calling!!!!!

These people want merchant statements. Scam.

Scam post??? Did my research through TD. Thanks for the caps lock though....very helpful.   Was called by Canadian Merchant Payment Association regarding merchant statements....from Santa Rosa CA.   Gave me a fax number to send them.....San Fransisco CA. So much for Canadian eh?

THey are now operating under Canadian Merchants Group with the same spiel.  New website is www.canadianmerchantsgroup.ca but is missing any local contact information, addresses, or phone numbers in Canada.  WE just got a call from them using a Skype phone number. Their website includes two toll free numbers  888-362-3751 and fax 888-335-2090.

Call from Janet Woods (with a very challenging Asian accent) of the Canadian Merchants Group on Nov. 9. to my business in coastal BC. Same story as above -- 30% savings. I said I'd call back. 1.888.913.2000 was the number she gave. Don't think I will, especially after reading the foregoing emails.

Is this a scam?

I was called last week and again this week from Pho at Onesource Merchant Solutions and told that are working on behalf of Visa and Mastercard and that the banks are keeping the difference between what they are charging and what Visa and Mastercard allow them to charge.  I was told that they will send me a check for the difference.  They told me they will save me 30% or more on my transaction fees and all I have to do is send in merchant statement.  Sounded familiar.  I was called months ago and was given the same line from Alex at the Canadian Merchants Association.  After a little digging I found that they have the same phone number.  Obviously the same company changing names to stay ahead of the law.  Below are some links to some of the other names they are using AVOID THEM AT ALL COST !!!!

She is not an account manager for visa but she is the verification manager for CMA.... They are not a scam...they helped my company see the savings i should be getting where moneris is getting for 3 years now....just understand their purpose and do not be paranoid

Just got a call from Ashton from Canadian Merchants Association and got into it with him big time. Asked why I am looking at this chatboard where 100% of all posters have indicated that you are a scam. He advised not to believe everything I see online and then proceeded to give me his online website! He failed to see the irony and was not impressed when I was laughing at him.

Just had Morgan ring me from the Canadian Merchant Association he said that he would save me 30% on all charges and stuff. He asked me to fax him my last statement to 1.888.789.0151.
He did leave his phone number = 9096854145.

Just recieved several phone calls from Joel wanting me to fax a copy of my last statement of credit card and debit fees . Wanted me to run to the fax and get this off to him asap so that he could verify everything. When l told him it wouldn't be right then he wanted to know exactly when l was going to fax it. Told him l was n't sure l was very busy. since then l contacted my supplier and spoke to them to report this and have since recieved 5 more calls from this Joel wanting to know when l was faxing my statement. Told him NEVER that this was a SCAM and he hung up on me.

We've been called as well with the same story.

Anyone know someone who go stung and how they scam you? Do they get into your account?

"We want to make sure that your visa M/C provider has given you the 30% discount that is due to you, send us your merchant statement to 1-888-789-0151 Attn Morgan" The guy was super pushy, to the point where I just said okay and hung up but of course i never sent it in as it sounded like a scam. Thanks to everyone for confirming my suspicions

"Mark" has been phoning me for months. He called a few minutes ago and wants me to fax my current moneris statement to 18884565689. I am glad I googled CMA and found this site describing the scam. Thank you. He is persistant and quite rude. I now have the information to get him off my back.

Those callers from Canadian Merchant?s Association (Merchant Cash Direct) had been harassing us for months.
Caller name Ashton Wolf had been calling us almost every single week & acted like he was calling us for the first time.
I can recognize his f--king voice & all the words he said for his introduction.

He even said to me," I already contracted My Boss and he is authorizing to fax me your VISA/MC info."
