Darren Stone must have been fired because I received a call from "Michael Tomkins" today who called my cell and left a detailed message about verifying my employment and if I or my attorney doesn't call them back then I will have to "appear".  Then called my work and talked to me but he made no sense at all whatsoever.  Really?  Last time I checked, you don't get a courtesy call to tell you that you are going to be served papers or have to "appear" I am assuming for court.  I am sure this is for collections and it's just another tactic they use in order to get people to acknowledge their debt.  I can understand a debt collectors job and people need to pay their debt, but sometimes things happen and either people can't pay their debt OR it's a mistake... and these debt collectors don't care either way, their job is to collect and they'll do what it takes especially if we are unaware of their unfair or unlawful practices.  Tell them to never call you again and if they need to communicate then they should mail you documentation so you can research things further.  If they ask for your address, which they should have already, just tell them they should have it on file if they were already looking to serve or send out "'papers".  Then try and take care of the debt you have or correct whatever mistake they have with your name attached to it.

This is collections tactic... they make it like they are going to serve you or your employer papers.  No one receives phone calls informing them that they are going to be "served".  Do not acknowledge the debt and tell them not to contact you by phone anymore and to mail you any communication they need to give you.  If they need your address, tell them if they know who you are that they should have that on file if they were going to "serve" papers.  That's what my call was about... and the guy "Michael Tomkins" must have been new, he sounded like he was reading from a script and he opened up the message with "i'm calling to give employment verification" um, WHAT?  Made no sense.  Collections.

i got a call 2day from dis number and they said i had a loan and i will be served if i dont pay 600

Received a message from Darren Stone.  Said he was from the wage department and need to verify my address in order to process the paperwork.  They call 2x per week with the same message.  Totally bogus.

Having your SSN# leaves you open to credit fraud. Have a watch put on your credit file & call your bank ASAP  to monitor your bank account & credit cards.

I received a call from this number stating that I was to be arrested for default on an account. They had my social security # and threatened to sue me if I didnt give them $500.00 immediately. I have never done business with these people before.

Same thing here.. I owe no one money. Cant imagine its legit

The caller from this number stated they were a mediator with UCRB (cannot find this company on the web anywhere), they are making threatening calls about coming to my place of employment. Not sure what it is about, I've called the number and cannot get a straight answer from them.

I just received the same call on my desk phone...they didn't say who they were looking for. I doubt it's legitimate as well

I also got a call from this Darren Stone at UCRB to call them back as they were preparing paperwork to go to the HR dept. Never left a name of who they were looking for.

I got a call from a Darren Smith at Ucrb wanting me to call their wage department. I have never heard of them and thought it was from a company looking at hiring my friend. He called and said it wasn't though.

I just got a call from this number too. Didn't answer though. I doubt this is a legitimate call.

Same here. Got the same call today and called them back. They said I had a judgement and wanted to settle. However I never heard of this creditor so I told him I would do some research on my credit report just in case this was a fraud call. Did you have the same experience?
