I do hope you called your credit card issuers and had them stop the payment - sounds like a scammer calling.  You should also probably destroy this credit card and have a new one issued, since you gave them the card number.  Depending on your son's state - the loan may well be past the statute of limitations for collection (meaning, they can't take legal action to go after it).  They also threatened you - illegal.  The guy pretended to be a lawyer - another violation of federal law.

Debt Collector
Received a call from Ms. Gesile representing something like Apear and Associates.  This was regarding my son who took out a 200.00 loan years ago.  They threatened me stating that it was going to be reported in court.  I told them my son has been incarcerated and will be claiming bankruptcy when he gets out.  Then some guy, pretending to be a lawyer, came on and said that the judge would make my son stay in jail longer.  I freaked out and gave them my credit card for a payment at the end of the month.  I told them that since they could be fraudulent too, I would need a statement before I would release the credit card payment.  Funny, nothing from them so far, so I just threatened them with pressing fraudulent charges.  A holes.

Shill, really?  Do you actually expect anyone to believe that?  And you just wandering into this thread to say "Hallelujah, I paid my bill!" because you are such a kind heart soul?  Or, are you trying to plant false information and fake testimonials to add credence to a scam?  Which is it?

What happened to the "good ol' days" yef? When the shills used to have IQs higher than their ages? Damn, I miss those days. The scum-bags that are showing up lately are just no challenge at all. We can't even count on the domestic challengers anymore. The best we've seen lately is the "DeFective".
I guess we're doing something right. Only the densest try to pee on this tree anymore.
Live Well.

Women left message on home machine stating they are from an attorneys office and filing fraud charges with my county against me if I do not return her call.  Left this number with an extension to call before 5 pm today.  I am not returning this call.
