Unknown number.

They claimed to be a law office, didn't leave me a voice mail, but called repeatedly. Finally I answered the phone and they asked if I was Marcus .......(something) and I had to say that it wasn't me and so far they have left me alone. Considering that I'm a teenager and have never had a credit card or any bills I wouldn't have debt, so obviously this is a scam.

6/21/10 Received call today from 716-681=3838 on my cell phone but did not answer it.  I had registered my cell number with the "Do Not Calll Registry" but apparently this doesn't stop thiese calls. I make a practice of not answering any calls that I don't know the numbers.  They can leave a voice mail, which most times they don't.

got a call from them. they never leave a voicemail. have called a friend before asking for me from a different number and told her I was a "person of interest" in a legal matter and to call them back. never get to talk to a person when I did try to call back though. I find it funny they can say you are a person of interest in a leagal case yet be debt collectors....sounds suspicious to me

Just got a call from 1-716-681-3838 - "LEGAL CHECK SVC".
Did not pick, and they did leave a voice mail.

I have been getting one or two calls a day from this number over the past week and I just ignore it.
I answered the call once and they claimed that I owed money from an account that was closed over 10 years ago and were ready to "take action" if I did not pay my balance.
After a little research, I found that it is nothing more than a scam or bottom feeder. They buy old debts or old accounts and try to collect on balances that may or may not be there (from old, outdated info).
I strongly suggest that if you have caller ID and this number comes up, do not answer it.
Most "debts" that they are claiming to try and collect is well past the seven year mark and is not listed on a credit report so it will not affect your credit score.

I been getting calls from 761-681-3838 and various numbers with the same area code and they are the same people.My brother had got one of those payday loans and used me as a reference about 6 years ago and that loan was cleared away back then.They left a message about a person of interest. I called them back and i got a recording and i left them a nessage for them to quit calling this number because that debt was paid in full years ago. I also said i am on the do not call list and i will take action if they dont stop calling my number for a person who does NOT live here. Im almost sure its a scam because my brother paid that 6 years ago.Im gonna make some calls to stop these unwanted calls and take legal action of my own

my father with my same name keeps getting calls from this company legal check svc with a number 716-681-3838. They tell him to get in touch with me and have me call them as i owe them money. I never got anything in the mail from this company and if they have my fathers number they sure should hve mine to. this crap needs to stop as my father is not in good health and he has to deal with this company.,...

keep getting calls from this number and don't answer since I don't know anyone in NY - did find on a search that this number belongs to a L Perelman.  Just another scam  will file yet another complaint wit the FTC

i also git a phone call from716-681-3838 its a scam report them to ftc and att general,and anyone eles you can think,this cant go on its a fraud.

The past two days I got one call from 716-681-3838 and 716-206-2545, I have yet to answer the phone when they call since I don't know the number and it's my private cell phone. I just called the number and the company's name is CCR and Associates. Apparently lawyers of some sort. I never hired a lawyer and in a post I read for the second number I listed the person said it was some sort of scam debt collector. Yesterday in the mail I got a letter from a debt collector agency saying I owed them $110 for an account I had at Citizens Bank. I closed that account in 2003 and the company apparently bought out my debt in '06. I called the number provided and spoke to an Indian man and told him that I had closed out that account and had no charges with them. That bank royally screwed me over. Anyways, the man said that since I told him I closed the account there was nothing they could do and they would take my name off their list and I would not receive anymore letters or phone calls. If this continues I plan on taking some sort of action.

They are pestering my friend who I must have used as a reference years ago and they are hounding her now. All I have is the phone number. How can I stop this.

          I also have a call coming in internationally who are harassing and threatening my business to talk to me. When I give them my home phone they don't call it. I understand that payday loan companies are selling peoples info to these companies. Today has been a day from hell with them. They come through a a different american name each time but they are Indians.

they called me about a couple of weeks ago and said we owed money to a company and wanted to set payments to get it payed.  We didn some searching on-line and found out that it is a scam, and everytime the payment was suspose to come out of bank it didn't there was not enough in the bank.
