I have had harassing calls from 716 services out of buffalo new york that "sells" magazines they called me at work and were very forceful and threatening. i finally hung up on them. they then called and threatened a good friend if mine and bullied her into paying what they say is MY debt. They threatened jail, to hold her paycheck and mine, pretend to be an investehator and an attorney, and more. I know I'm all the way in Illinois but what should be my first course of action? It just seems like there should be something I can do.  Just a direction to go in would be awesome.

All i can say is THANK GOD for the internet!! i almost fell for this s***...but i had a funny feeling about it, so i typed the phone number in my search engine, and thousands of people have written in about this so called "law firm" and how it's a scam.
i received multiple calls from this Marshall bozo...he even called my grandparents who live across the united states from me, and asked THEM for money!! how the hell does this a***ole get so much information?!! and how the hell does he get away with this crap?!!! i am so shocked that this s*** actually goes on and that nobody has been able to stop him...its plain sickening.

i was so fired up and pissed when i found out that this was just some heartless b*****d trying to rip me off, that i called him back and told him he was gonna rot in hell and i was sorry that he lives such a sick, shallow, and empty life that he has to steal money from innocent people. i must have really got to him cause he started yelling at me...and how funny...he all-the-sudden didn't speak with his "accent" that he had spoken with before. hmmm lol......

Left a message saying he was Marshall Thomas and I needed to call him immediately.  I ignore it.

So this guy calls me up, Mr. Marshall Thomson, and wants $500.00, or I'm going to jail. I almost paid this idiot, he's good at what he does but not good enough. I caught on to him, but I kept it going for a couple of days... My thought was, this guy had jumping through hoops, and had us all worried, so it's payback. I played along and led him to believe I was going to send the money. Idiot, I gave him a fake card number on a couple of occasions, and drove him up the wall by not answering the phone. This guy was so pissed I actually started to have fun with him... I just want to say that he will never ever forget mr... Mr. Thompson, who ever you are, I hope you're reading this right now, it's me your newest friend, give me a call I have your 500 right here bud, and why did you stop answering your phone, I really enjoyed talking to you.... DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE SCAM YOU.... Investigators don't call asking for money.... They have several phone numbers which I daily leave messages on, I just let them know that I have their money, and to please call me back.... Here are the phone numbers, 716-248-0362, 716-390-6961, 716-748-6245... The first two numbers also receive text messages....

I received the same phone call from a Marshall Thomas claiming I am under unvestigation for bank fraud and that he was from Oklahoma with this same number and even gave a docket number. I knew something wasn't right because I am no where near Oklahoma. So I did some investigation on the number and found out it's from Buffalo NY and that I am not the only one that has received phone calls from this Marshal Thomas.

my sister recieved a call from this number and he said he was marshall thomas told her he was c.heck fraud investigator.  so my sister called me right back. and i called the number and he said he was calling because of a loan i took out in 09 and they r going to take me to court in florida he wanted my debit card info i dint give it to him. should i be scared  what should i do. he told me to call him back monday with the card nu,mber so he can tell them im trying to make payments he sounded like an old guy. trying to friends with me .

This is such a scam...but the funny thing is the guy was soooo stupid, he read off someone else's name and SS# and her county.  This scam has been going on about 2 years and I know their script by heart.  They buy your info from a payday loan company online.


Also,  he is such an idiot that he says I am going to serve you and gives a docket #- Dumba**, it is called a suit number and no one serving you calls you first.  A docket # is only things in line (ie the docket) to be heard in trial.

This is nothing but a huge SCAM.  Do not pay them any money.  Tell them you need to see paperwork on their claims before you pay out any money.  If they can't provide it, it's obvious they're trying to scam you.  

You can try to complain to the FBI, But they get so many complaint like this, I'll be surprised if it does any good.  

Last time I got a call from people like this, I told them I'd already contacted the Detroit field office of the FBI, and they told me they'd handle it.  You might try that, but choose a field office that's closer to where you live.  

But, by NO MEANS, should you send them any money, or give them any information.

You don't really have to do anything.  You can ignore it, or you can report them to the FTC.  This is a scam, so I really doubt the FTC will have much luck tracing them down.  I simply tell them I'm passing on their info the FBI.

I too have received calls from this so called "Marshall Thomas".....matter of fact, he called me FIVE times within a FOUR MINUTE period!!! The number came up on my caller ID as Upstate Offices. On one of the voicemail messages he left, he said the four digits of a SS#, and said the call was in regard to bank fraud charges that were being filed in my county against me. When I finally answered on the FIFTH time, I asked "who the hell is this, and why are you calling me five times in less than five minutes??!!" He asked for a woman, but as he could tell, I am NOT a woman. I told him this lady doesn't live at this number and to STOP calling me!!! These jerks have been calling my home number numerous times a day, and almost every day. I wish I had THEIR home number, and call their a***s after 9 pm and annoy the crap out of them like they do all of us!

They called me yesterday Marshall Thomas told me to call him back today at 3pm with my debit card number or a warrant would be issued for my arrest. I was like wtf thats why i google this number this morning. What a bunch of s***.

I've received two calls from this number in the last 20 mins. Left a message both times. First message Said, "This message is for L**** ****** (me) youneed to call Marshall Thomas." That's all it said. Second message said the same thing but they were calling regarding docit number ######. Super fishy.

My mom had a message on her machine before 8 am this morning from a Marshall Thomas looking for me.  He stated it was in regards to a Fraud Case in the county where I live and that I needed to get in touch with him or I could be arrested.  I called the number and it went to a voicemail for Marshall Thomas with Check Fraud Investigations.  I did not leave a message.  I got online because something smelled fishy to me.  I saw all of these complaints and I too filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (877-382-4357) and they said for me to also file a complaint with my State Consumer Protection Agency.  I do not know how these people are accessing personal information but do not fall for this scam.  If you have any real fraud investigation against you a police officer will contact you not a telemarketer.  Hopefully this company will be punished to the full extent of the law and no longer harass innocent people.

have gotten several call from  this number from a gentleman named marshall thomas saying I was being invesigated for check fraud for a check loan that had been taken out  and it was being turned over to a lawyer and I was going to be arrested on a warrent for this issue.  i gave him the number for a prepaid credit card but the funding was late  due to some issues with my direct deposit.  He continued to call and the messages became more and more aggressive.   I don't know if I should
keep calling him back or not.   He says he knows more about me than i think he does and i should not lie to him.  suggestions ?

Got a call from a Marshall Thomas yesterday from this number.  Said he was with a "check fraud" agency in NY.  Said my SS# kept coming up when they were investigiating a Shannon Lewis who used my number to try to get a "pay check loan" processed.  He even asked me if that was my SS# & HE READ it to ME!  YIKES.  I asked what I could do & he told me to get my credit checked.  Gave me his number if I had any questions.  I DID, but twice had to leave a message.  Altho, a recorded message came on saying "Mr Thomas was unavailable" & to leave my number.  Never heard back, so am scared he is in on whatever is happening.  What should I do?  I did ask if she was from New York, because he said he was from there.  He said she is from Arizona!  Do I have to pursue this further?

All of u need to calm down. I am a lawer and have had three clients about this same Brown Andrews and Scott law office. Though my office and other sources have found that this is a scam. This company is not a real company. They have tried hard to look and sound like a company or should I say law office. I have contacted this fraudulent company many times and have found they are not a law office or are they them self attorneys. I have contacted the FTC (Fed. Trade Commission) about the company and recommend you all to do the same to contact the FTC the number is 1-87-382-4357. I have also compiled a list of numbers and company names they are useing.

If you have sent this company money contact an attorney. By the FDCPA (fair debt collection practices act) a debt collector can not make threating acts to collect a debt and not paying a debt is not a criminal  offence  it is a civil matter. You can not be arrested for it just a lawsuit in civil court is all.

Called 3 times within 5 mins.  Caller ID: UPSTATE DEBT.  I did not answer and they left no msg.

I get calls from 716-748-6245 mutiple times a day.  They say they are from Brown, Andrews, and Scott.
They ask for a family member in message on my machine.  Then they call back and ask for me or my husband.  I ignore the call and delete the messages.  I imagine if any of us owed money we would have gotten a piece of mail about it by now.  I think they are scammers.

I just got a phone call from this number 7167486245 from check fraud investigation. the lady asked me if i ever had a bank account at first of chicago, which is no longer in business and no i did not ever had one, she asked me of my last 4 digits SS# (she actually had it) no understanding what was going on i said yes so i called the number back after we hung up  no answer back just a voice mail and i let them know i called FBI and Check Systems AND ALARMED THEM OF THERE ATIVITIY TOO.

Got a call from 7167486245 from a guy named tom martin saying he was calling on behalf of brown anderson scott regarding a pending investigation against me said I had to call him right away I called back he answered and had the nerve to call me a mr. I'm a girl I'm so confused idk if this is real or not but I've never been to new york how can I commit fraud there
