The individual represented themselves as an investigator in a criminal and civil matter. He swore, used profanity and threatened me.  Tried to collect a debt that was over 12 years old.  Don't pick up the phone

Some woman from this number just called my house stating that I had an unpaid Providian credit card debt.  I do not.  She wanted me to give her information, and I refused.  She knew my address, so I told her she could just mail anything important to me.  She said they had already mailed notices to me.  They have not.  I realized this was obviously a scam.  We had a similar experience where a man continually harassed and threatened us, even using profanity.  We just persisted in telling him we knew he was not legit and hanging up.  He finally gave up.  So I guess that is what we will have to do this time as well.
