A recruiting company for?  When I called back, the conversation went like this.  "I need an updated resume"  which I sent. Why would you need an updated resume if the one sent was good enough to initiate first contact?  Surely what you have in your hands should be enough to start discussions on the alleged position.  Granted it would be nice to have the most current, but every LEGITIMATE recruiter I have ever dealt with that has called me out of the blue had enough reason to do so and we could talk then and there, not once an updated resume was received.

But fine...  how did the conversation continue?  "What do you expect for compensation"   "That's negotiable"  "I need a number"  "It's going to depend on the position, I need to know more about the position"  "Okay, I will get back to you."

If you're not going to tell me what the position is, then my rate is $1,000,000 per hour!  If you HAVE a position, and are a LEGITIMATE recruiter, then you should know the going rates.  Every RECRUITER I have ever dealt with that is legitimate gave me a rate up front, not ask me what I want.   At most the flexibility exists between 1099 vs. W2 where there are negligible differences based on whether or not benefits are received under the W2 status.

The job descriptions given are very vague and open.   Companies pretending to be real recruiters that do this are more likely not recruiters at all but are building salary databases to understand what the going rates are for various skills and then they present YOUR credentials and YOUR rates with ANOTHER body.

I just worked for a company recently that hired three consultants that were NOT the persons the company interviewed on the phone.  The scam now is for people (usually in India) hiring firms to interview for them, they get the job and then the guy who didn't actually interview hopes no one figures out what happened until he/she either learns the job or is able to bill long enough before found out to not know anything.

I am a consultant, and this hurts me and other legitimate consultants out there, as well as the hiring company and legitimate recruitment firms.  I highly recommend that if a person can't interview in person with visual confirmation of who he/she is, then require that person to interview by skype or some other web conferencing so you know when the consultant shows up on your doorstep it was indeed the person you interviewed.

Is MindTeck a legitimate company or is this number actually associated with them, I don't  know.  All I know is that if there is an "immediate need" for someone, a real recruiter would be talking about that need before salary requirements, if for no other reason that if the person they called doesn't have the skills they might know someone else who does.    To immediately go into salary requirements with nothing more than a job description is very suspect.

I posted my resume on CareerBuilder and Monster.com a few months ago, i believe thats how they are getting peoples information.
Right after the attempted call, I received an e-mail from "Nisar" stating they were calling about a job opening and that my information was gathered from a "Job Portal" and that phone number was listed as a contact. It sounds like they are a Temp Agency
