They have called over and over at my work and my cell phone, saying the first time I owe 400, then the next time I owed 1200.  I asked for the original creditor's contact info so I knew who filed this and they gave me another number which connected right back to the same guy and he acted like he was someone totally different.  When I asked who said I owed money, they rattled off a bunch of bogus websites.

Since my last post I got a new person and a new number, this time they left me a message threatening if I don't take care of this issue I know whats going to happen.  This time they said they are STATES ATTORNEY OFFICE, so I called and told them if they were from the States Attorney Office they should know the law, that threatening me with jail or court is illegal when trying to collect a debt, he started to yell at me, I couldn't understand him because of the accent, but his name was Jason, yeah right.  I hung up and had my son which has a deep voice for 14 years old to ask for Tiger Taylor, they said he wasn't available.  Mind you this number is 8055004567, which is out of California, Tiger number was out of Pennsylvania, 7178624230.  They are suppose to be different agencies, so why would Tiger be at that number too.  I bet if you call there and ask for your name they would say they are not available or put a person on the phone.  I was scare the very first time they called, now it's all a joke and as long as they continue to call I'm going to mess with them too.

Hi I have gotten 6 phone calls on my cell over the past month and a half from 7178624230...they have a very heavy Eastern accent...I don't answer anymore because it is always the same number and I recognize it now and I don't know anyone in this area code...it is soooooo irritating...I had blocked the number but as soon as the block was off they started again...I don't know what to do but it is harrassment and I know our government has other pressing issues but there ought to be something that can be done to catch these people...they say the same thing over and over...that I have a legal action against me...one time when I did talk to the person and questioned them about what company I owed and the orginal amount and requested corporate information such as address they couldnt give me anything...and they still freaking call...I hate it....

I'm not going to repeat everything you all said, but it happened to me.  His name is Tiger Taylor and he has a nasty mouth if he doesn't get his way.  My first phone call I really thought it was legit, because I owe a Payday loan and I lost there information, so I thought I can get them out the way right now.  $798 is what he said I owed, but we could settle for $510.  Before I paid to make sure it was the correct debt I owed I asked for name and number of the creditor that might sue me so I can contact them, He didn't know he said they represent a lot of payday loan sites and named a few.  I asked him, you have all my information but you don't have that information, he gave me another number to call, and yes they couldn't give me the information either and they sounded alike.  So I faxed a promised to pay letter and the date along with my prepaid debit card number. He also said I can wire it Western Union, but the name I was suppose to send it to is Ashley Stapleton, she is suppose to be the person who has my case.  If its not a company I'm not sending my money to a single person unless I know them. I felt a little strange about the conversation, so on the date the money was suppose to be there it wasn't and he called me again.  I gave him another date to buy some time because my computer was down and I couldn't look up the company or the number.  To make a long story short here I am.  Our last phone call really pissed him off, I said I'm not going to pay because I found out you people are frauds and you probably not even in the US, he replied "YOU STUPID MOTHERF**KIN LADY,"  Of couse I laughed and hung up.  Three days later he called again and said he need my fax number, I told him to F**K Off, he started to yelled "GIVE ME THE FAX NUMBER", I hung up.  I'm waiting for another call.   Upside Collection is the name of the company, and he is the lead investigator.  YEAH RIGHT!

I have been getting calls from these jerkoffs for the last year.  Don't answer the phone when they call, don't return their messages, and don't give them the satisfaction that their scam might actually work on you. They're all the same.  It's a guy with a Middle-Eastern or Indian accent who barely speaks English and is clearly reading from a script.  One of these a***oles actually laughed just before he ended a voicemail on my phone.  And it always sounds like he's in a busy office with a lot of noise in the back round. He says he is Officer Mike Stone or Anthony Williams, or some American sounding name calling from "Office of Law and Investigation".  There is no such office. Then he says a lawsuit has been filed against me, he says my address and something about my social security number being blocked.  Any of this sound familiar so far? Afterwords, he says if I call back right now, we can work out a solution. One day when I was bored, they called me and I gave them one phony credit card after another as they tried to process a payment transaction.  Man were they pissed! Payback's a bi***.  And that's pretty much what this guy will be in prison when they finally catch his filthy, lowlife a**.
Remember, people, it's a scam.  That's all you need to know.

I just got hit by these low lives twice in the past couple of days, luckily I let their calls go to voice mail at my office. Same modus operandi, thick Indian/African accents. So thick I couldn't understand what the callers name was. I haven't called them back nor do I intend to. My question is, can they somehow access my bank account and drain me of funds and should I let my bank know about the possibility?

I had the same person call my boyfriend saying they were taking legal action against me for a payday loan.  They had a middle eastern accent and provided no answers for the questions my boyfriend presented to them.  I called them and the guy answered with a hello, no business name.  I asked who this was and he gave a first name only and proceeded to threaten me with legal action.  When he realized he was getting no where, he hung up on me.  I contacted the FTC and they said they had been getting alot of calls in regards to these types of calls and it was a scam.  I hadn't received another call from them since, until today (they called without leaving a voicemail and immediately sent a text message stating PLEASE CALL).  The FTC was very helpful, I would suggest contacting them and filing a report.

717-862-4230 Don't answer it it is fraud and they are not even in the country, they can get land lines to call people in the US to scare and get money from them.  They are India Accent and will threaten you when you tell them they are not legal.  They will keep calling you if you answer and call back.  They will harass you because they stole your information if you ever went on line an applied for a payday loan.  Check your credit reports and let them know if there is anything funky.  They will call you and then stop and then when you think its over they start all over again with a different name company and phone number.  It is amazing how they get away with it.  I guess the US needs to wake up and get these laws in to effect  so we can stop them.  They are hurting the enconmy for sure.  Stealing money from the US and then we have no money, and the thing is they are calling unemployeed people as well. Thretening them and so some of us do get scammed.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

Call the number back.  When they answer, burp into the phone and hang up.  Call them again, scream into the phone and hang up.  Turn the TV up loud and play it to them.  Play a loud porno movie to them.  Yell at them.  Do anything you can to annoy them.

These are overseas scammers hiding behind US phone numbers who are preying on peoples' fears to try and get money.  Give them a taste of their own medicine.  They are lowlife scum who deserve nothing better.

I just got a call from Richard.  What is up with this already, they just keep changing their numbers and getting peoples money.  I am so sick of these calls.  I really don't know how this can happen.  Someone really need s to educate this country on these scams because they are getting money from people who get scared that they are going to go to court if they don't pay.  They act like you are dumb and when they change their name of company and phone number a few weeks later and start calling again it really is annoying.  Then when you research you find all this scam stuff.  Then when you ask to mail you something they start to get mad and get loud and threaten you.  It is just annoying and how they get your stuff is bad.  I have filed complaints but that does not go anywhere these BAD PEOPLE just keep calling but of course they are a different company and officier Richard, Come on your name is probably HUdamu or something like that from India.  PLEASE SOMEONE STOP THIS. A person I worked with was scammed for $2000.  So as long as they keep getting away with this they will keep doing it.

I got a call from this number. The mans name was "Officer Richard Johnson" with a middle eastern accent. He claimed that he had an affidavit and warrant out for my arrest for a loan from some company i have never heard of. Told me that if i didnt pay the loan back today that i was to show up for court in PA by 12 noon. I asked him to send me copy of the legal documents and said that he couldnt, that it was against there company policy. He called my 2 friends looking for me. He knew all my info...SS,DL,Bank account numbers,EVERYTHING. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE MONEY.

Sombody has been calling my home and my cell phone. He said that his name was Mike Stone, and that he has a lawsuit against me. He has been calling me for the last two days now but i have not had the chance to call him back. A few weeks ago i had a call from a person name John Martin, and he called and called me almost everyday. He said that i had a payday loan from a company but he didn't want to tell he were i had gotten it from. He also did not allow me to talk to his boss or anybody over them. So my boss at work told me to Google the  number so i did then i found out that this guy calls a lot of people. I think somebody should do something about these people calling and harassing us.
