they have called 4 times tonight with nobody on end of line and wont take a call back

Receiving calls with this number however it appears the numbers are call forwarded?

Rec'd 5 calls in session on 04/02/2011 in the am from unknown but when I hit star 69 the 5th call's number came up 718-301-8136.  The first call did not leave a message, second only breathing on the line when I answered and would not respond to the other two pick ups.  Didn't pick up the 5th call but called Verizon and they gave me a number to report nuisance calls #1-800-257-2969.  This center is open Mon to Fri. 8-5, so keep a record of the calls date and time.  To many scammer's out there.  Beware!!!!

Ok, just got another call. I noticed something funny. These calls are coming in to the office that I work at. I noticed that after I posted my last updated on here, about 2 hours ago, that we got about two more calls from this same number. When I answered the phone and mentioned who was speaking, they would hang up. This last call I decided not to mention my name and only the company name. Someone spoke on the other end. Strange! Anyways, they were calling from IMP Weapons of War. I know my boss has their membership, but it's just been strange getting these hang up calls and finally having someone speak. If it keeps happening I'm going to bring attention to them that it is very unprofessional to call and hang up, especially so many times in one day. Just thought I'd share what I found.

I have received two calls from this number. One this afternoon and the other yesterday. Both have been hang up calls. I tried calling back to find out where the call was coming from but no one ever answered the line and all of a sudden it just stopped ringing. Glad I saw these posts. I now know that if someone does end up talking next time they call I'll know this is all spam.

for the past week I have been recieving these calls from this number. They never leave msgs,in fact when I redial the number is always busy. Where I live NYC is 3 hrs ahead. I called today and they answered and just hung up on me. Thanks to this post I know now that it is a scam. Thank you guys for your all your post. Now I know not to answer to this number

This is the second call I got from these people today... the first number was from Jamaica  876-307-9246. They asked me if I was home right now (which freaked me out since I am a single mother), and when I said "yes", the guy said that there would be somebody coming to my house today to drop off a check for me because I won the mega-millions or something like that. I politely asked the guy to not bother, I know this is not legit, and to please not call my phone again, then I said "goodbye, have a nice day" and hung up. One minute later he calls me from this New York number and I said "hey, you *just* called me", and he hung up on me.

You're all probably wondering why I was so polite to him. The fact of the matter is that these particular scammers scare the crap out of me. They are ran by different GANGS in Jamaica. Gangs that kill each other because they bought the same phone number list as the rival gang. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I really don't need some machete-wielding Jamaican gangster showing up at my house.

Mother got a call from this number looking for my father.  When my mom asked who it was the African American caller began to curse at her demanding to speak to my father.  My mother kept her cool and kept asking why they wanted my father.  The caller stated it was a police matter concerning their son and continued to curse when my mother would not produce my father on the phone.  My mother told him to listen to how he was talking to her if he was a cop.  The man responded with more foul language and hung up.  When she tried to call back to confirm his position the call could not be completed.  Just after she received another call from ?out of area? which sounded like a telemarketer or bill collector to which she simply hung up.  This call really shook her due to the individual offensive language and stating it was a police matter concerning their son.  Someone should really look into these call tactics.

Got a call from them today 3/1/2011 @ 2:15 pm.  I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.  It said it was New York w/ the number.  My answering machine came on and some lady just kept saying "Hello..hello..." and finally hung up.  For me to answer next time they need to leave a message.  It's so frustrating because they all seem to call when my daughter is sleeping...guess I need to start unplugging my phone at that time.

Got a call from them twice today...I didn't answer the first time, but the second time I picked it up. Caller ID just says "New York" and then this number. Foreign male on the other end, wouldn't identify himself. Kept asking for "Kaneisha" or maybe "Taneisha"...said she left him this (my) number. When I said she doesn't have this number, he pressed me to identify myself. When I balked, he said Kaneisha had committed a crime (like the cops call you to turn yourself in!) and he really needed to speak with her. This guy really wanted my name. I finally gave him a fake name. He sounded exactly like the guy who called from "Octothorpe" in December...and that guy wanted to speak to Kaneisha also. I ended up telling that guy that my name was Santa Claus, and do you know he called back at least twice and left creepy messages on my voice mail saying things like "This message is for you, Santa Claus....ho ho ho..." Weird!
I wonder what kind of scam these guys are running.

This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number,  or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Thanks for the info re: this number. They called here last night and from the caller ID I figured it was some kind of a scam.

Got a call from this number 02-09-2011 @ 12:03 pm from a gentleman with the name of Michael Manley stating I had won $250,000.00 and a brand new Mercedes and he wanted to deliver both to me that day, THE CATCH was I had to pay $250.00 up front to receive my gifts......I told him if I had won those things I would not have to pay anything up front to get them if this was Legitimate.

From my Vonage phone, I called my parent, who almost didn't answer because the caller ID showed that I was calling from this phone number, which of course is not anything close to my number. I even called back a second time to check if it would be consistent...it was. Strange though, every other time I called in the past, the caller id number appeared correct to them.
