all police fund raising calls are scams, not legitimate and probably not legal.  if I make the mistake of picking it up I just tell them that the police in my neighborhood make FAR more money than the residents so I can't help them and then ask them to take me off their list.

Told caller my husband just lost his job and he said "Will you be making the $15 pledge or $25.00 pledge?" He totally could care less about what I just said.

These losers must be having some success, or they wouldn't keep calling people. I won't give any unsolicited caller the time of day! As annoying as it is to listen to the phone ringing all day long, don't answer any call you don't recognize. If they don't leave a message, they're not worth wasting your time.

Called back this number as well.  Used the name of another phony police organization (not PAL).  Most organizations do not call the house.  Beware!

Received multiple calls from this# I called back this time told the guy I would check them out on the web. Nothing but scam news.

These idiots call 24/7. Never say anything. I called back the number and they said it was the NY Police Conference. I checked with my local police dept. they also said it was a scam. Caller ID says New York, New York. When you block the number they switch to a caller ID that says Hicksville or Wantagh. Differnt numbers but same dumb a** keeps calling. DNC is ineffective.

I would assume that the caller is not actually from the organization, but rather they are a "professional fundraiser".  Looked through the 2012 Pennies for Charity report that the AG's office puts out (http://www.charitiesnys.com/pdfs/2012_Pennies.pdf) and PCNY used 3 different fundraisers that year. The charity itself only received 15-30% of any money pledged.

Do not call system does not work....crank calls

This particular number called me 5 times today. Then more calls came in from another one of the thousands of different numbers they have, then another and another. It never stops. I just keep reporting for all the good it does. Three different agencies and counting. I let the machine do the work but make a mental note of the number. You must be pretty pathetic to do a job all day where you just sit and listen to a machine pick up. Guess they're too worthless to do any meaningful work. IQ's of an ice cube.

Received call from this number and answered- told them I needed a website to check legitimacy- they said www.pcny.org, which appears to be a legitimate organization, this number does not appear on it however.

Another call and no message

says he is calling for the local police department looking for contributions - i checked with the local police department and they say it's not them - it's a scam

It is NOT the PAL. Caller Joe Mc.... talks like a machine from a script and doesn't answer my questions  and refuses to take me off his list. He says it's for the "Police Conference."  He calls back more often if I get angry.

Got a call from this number. Just picked up, they kept saying "hello" but I didnt say anything. Then I hanged up.

Rec'd call from 718-407-0597 on 8/17 at 4:50pm on my CELL..  I've learned that any unrecognizable number...to let it go to voice mail.  If important enough, caller will leave message.  No msg left from this caller.  Thank you for this site..

Same thing (PAL solicitation) I'm drafting a reply for the next solicitor that will go something like this: "Thank you for calling.  I'm sure you have my best interest or the best interest of underprivileged people in mind but I no longer conduct any business, give out any information, or make any contributions during calls that I have not initiated.  Please put me on your in house do not call list (note: the National Do Not Call list is useless).  Have a good day"...."click"

I also have a call blocker but it is full at 100 blocked calls.  I plan to clear it out and start all over using the above reply first and then block the number if called again.
