Got a call for a job from this number after I posted my resume on a job board. Sounds like this is a telemarketing tank in India doing all kinds of cold-calling.

Been getting a lot calls from this number, but never answer.

Didn't pick up, but have received several calls from this number over a period of time.

This # calls our house almost daily as well. it just called at 7:15 on Sunday night. Nobody responds when I answer. When I call the # I get this recording that says 'you're call can't be answered at this time.  Please call later.' Crazy!

Collecting money for help Police,guy was  a scumbag and called at 5:15 pm on Sunday,I've told him to go and F&*K him self and his scam.

Calls several times during the week, but disconnects immediately after the third ring, apparently trying to avoid an answering machine. Worst part it alls early on Sunday morning. The caller claims to be doing fund raising for the Cook County Police (Illinois).

received a call from 847 440 9936, once today and once on Mother's day!!  I know this is a scam as the caller ID only tells me the call is from Illinois and nothing else.  I think Cook County Sheriff's police have bullet proof vests already.  If not, let Cook County buy them as we are paying gobs in tax dollars to Cook County.  Reverse look up comes up with nothing.  I'll bet it is from some guys house.  Scammer!!

I just got this call for the third time this week.  They asked for a woman by name then hung up once, the other two times were automatic hang-ups.  I called back and got a message from a guy with a forced deep voice saying "No one from the Association is available to take your call...", asks you to leave a message, then says the voicemail box is full.  Here's what is most likely going on:

1. Known scam:  An "Association" representing your local police department wants you to donate, they don't take money over the phone, will send you something in the mail and you send your check.  We've checked with the Des Plaines Police Dept. that they claimed to represent, and they told us these guys are frauds -- the DPPD Plaines never sees that money.

2. Auto-dialer:  They bought your name and number from a list and they don't honor the do not call list because... they're scammers.  The don't know how to control the dialer so that it dials at a pace approporiate for the number of agents available to take the connections.  That's why all the missed calls.

Caller ID says it's from Evanston IL; asked for my other half by his first name, then for Mr. or Mrs. — we is gay couple, that's not gonna work. I called the number back, got the same voiceover-style voice reported by others, then voicemail box full.

I recieved two call two days in a row now after accidentally answering three days ago to a different number. The original was Xentel asking for some fictitious person and they asked who I was. I refused to tell them. I then told him to never call here again and he got smart. I told him they were %$#$@ and to quit calling as I'm on the do not call list. Now I'm getting calls from this number (847-440-9936) daily and I've turned it in several months ago also.
Time for our tax paid government workers to actually do something other than draw a pay check from out hard earned dollars while they do nothing to stop this corruption.

This number has called us about 10 times in two or three weeks. Can hear the person breathingg on the other end, they always hang up without saying anything. Very annoying.

847-440-9936 call to raise funds for bullet proof jackets for police.  ICOPS.org,  IL Council of Police.  Man called me by my first name and then said they'd send out a packet with a police decal and then i could send in a donation.  They don't accept anything by phone.  i told him i'd have to check it out on the web.  He said he'd call back.  Glad I checked.

This phone number calls me constantly!!  Even at night,  I am not sure if it is a telemarketer or what...I refuse to answer it now...  When I tried to look it up I read where a woman had throat cancer, and the person on the other end made fun of her by whispering back at her.  Everyone should avoid these calls...If they call refuse to answer!

Shows as a missed call but will not respond when I answer the phone.  Calls are almost daily.  Must be computer generated.

They called me once today and they said that they were the police and they said if my parents were there and i asaid yes then they hung up on me

They called yesterday and today.  My husband answered and they hung up.  I called the number back and went directly to an odd voicemail.

Have never talked to anyone, hang up when I answer, call at least 3 times a week. They are not available if you try to call them. WTF!

I know this is an Elgin, Illinois number. I, also, got no response when I answered the call,  I won't call back as I have been getting many calls lately from a bunch of different numbers that are all scams and always a foreigner.  I let the answer machine pickup now but when they don't say anything I check out the number.

I just got a call from this number, and a man asked for me by name.  I asked who he was, he said Kevin Cook.  I said and who is Kevin Cook?  He again asked for me by name, and I again asked who he was.  he then said he would call back.  I then blocked his number so that he can no longer call me.

They called me & asked for me by a quirky nickname I have. Yes, they have been calling me for 2 weeks non-stop. 2 days ago they told me that they help my  police department, in my town, catch pedifiles & protect the children in my community. Yesterday another guy called & said they help fired policemen get their retirement that is due to them. The organization is made up of policemen & non policemen, & good citizens of the community, willing to help those in need (And you need my money for what?).  Is the organization made up of fired policemen, or any policemen at all. He also said they needed the money to give themselves banquets.  (For what?)  You want me to donate money to you so you can give yourself a nice big banquet. How about giving the "real" police men & women of my town a banquet.
 When I reversed the phone number with the telephone company, it came back as a number for the Chicago Sun Times & at an address 3 blocks from my house.The number they used was 888-888-4637. There is no Sun Times office there. They only call & act as a charity, which it is not, & they only benefit themselves. Selfish people.

Your classification is incorrect. They are a for profit quasi telemarketer organization that keeps at least 85% of what they collect from well meaning suckers. They use predictive dialers (almost all telemarketrs do) to keep their employees busy and not waiting for someone to pick up the phone. That is why when called parties answer the phone, often there is no one there as all employees are busy working on other suckers. Some employees are rude because part of their income comes from a percentage of you contribution and when you give nothing, they get nothing. Best thing to do is block these types of calls if you can. They get around the DNC list by slipping under the wire and being a charity even though they keep almost all the contributions for themselves. Organizations that use these types of quasi telemarketing companies are really no better than the telemarketer themselves. Both would stop this activity altogether if everyone or nearly everyone would not contribute.

It is just a hired agency calling for donations.   The group they are calling for
will get a small percenage and the calling agency the rest.  
It is a good idea to never answer a call in less than 3 rings.

Received a call at 8:45 p.m. Oct 20, with no one on the other end of the call .Since I don't have caller ID I did a *69 and got the number 847.440.9936. Called the number and a recording said it was an "association" and the mailbox was -- no surprise -- full so I couldn't leave a message or find out who was calling.
Definitely a bogus ASSociation as they are not listed in the reverse directory.  Do not give this scammer any money or personal info.

Keep getting a call from this number. I pick up and no one answers on the other end... sometimes the calls are very late at night and wakes me out of a sound sleep.
