They've called several days in a row, no message.  The caller ID says "Out of Area" even though it's showing a local 718 area code.  Generally a tip-off that it's a telemarketer or something, but today I picked up in case it was a client with a 718 number.  

A woman asked for me, then said it was in reference to an unpaid ConEd bill, giving an address I used to live at.  I said that was impossible as I hadn't lived there for years.  "Sorry," she said and I hung up and promptly kicked myself.  I just confirmed to god knows who that I'm the same person who lived there before, probably giving some scammer a way to pretend to be me.  I'm so pissed.  Broke my own rule to never pick up on unknown numbers - if it's legit, they'll bloody leave a message.

When I dialed back, it said "The number you have dialed has been disconnected."  Definitely some kind of scam.

I'm going to report to the attorney general.

Got a call from this number and the lady said said she was from con ed and asked to confirm that I pay bill on time and added I would get a discount 7% for the first 2 months.
Gave an example if my bill was $100 after the discount it would be $65-70. (You do the math)
I asked them to mail this information to the address that they should have and hung up

they want to consolidate coned bills, I don't have coned services. they put the phone down as soon as I ask company name.

It is a call from the Bronx routed to India and a call center. They are trying to sell you service to a Con Ed competitor.

I received five calls and each time questioned the caller-saying can I speak to someone who speaks English as their accent was too thick.  Then I asked to speak to a Supervisor.  It is clear that you can hear the call center in the background.

It's not a collection agency. It's a SCAM!!!!!! It has nothing to do with you owing somebody money. I don't owe money to anyone & they keep calling. Furthermore, if they were legit they would know who they are calling. They always ask to speak to the person in charge of this bill or that bill...A bunch of BS!!!

This is not a call from con edison. It's a scam. Con Edison would show up on your caller ID & my con Ed is not area code 718. Also, I always pay con ed on time so there would be no reason for them to call. I have cursded these people out numerous times & have just filed a complaint against this # as well. Tired of them calling everyday.

This is not a ConEd number.  I have NO dealings with ConED and I received calls from this number.

Contact ConEd directly, call, check your account on-line, if you're close try an office visit.  If they can't produce any evidence of who they are, don't talk to them.

No, it's not.  They just want you to think it is.  If you call the number it is listed as disconnected.  Plus, at the moment, Con Edison is in the middle of a labor dispute, have cancelled meter readings and you think they are going to call when they are short staffed?

i always pay bill on time u cause it to be like that u and your pay the full and entire balance  karen baron and third-party CE. and never call my number a again this is the final warning 718 ....... stop waking up my baby.

This number calls me everyday. I'm so sick of seeing it. I also called it back and the number is disconnected. I don't have a con Edison bill so I don't owe them money. How do you know it's con Edison?  I doubt very much that a company like con Edison would be involved in such Shenanigans.

Today is Tuesday 3 July 2012.  It is 1:30PM in the afternoon.  Just got two calls in a row.  Did a star-69 after the second one, and it said the number of your last incoming call is 718-514-9984.  After reading these posts, I called the number, and an automated voice said that the number I just called has been disconnected, and then my call was disconnected. I DO owe Con Edison money, but I do not know if that is relevant, because Michelle54, who posted right before me, said she got a call from this number and does not owe Con Ed. So - that's my story.

There is no way you can block this number they will continue calling until you pay but remember not to pay throug them or you'll get a red flag on your account it was con edison who called you

Tip to all of you.. If you owe a bill (anyone) and they call you asking to make a payment and you accept it its more likely that this person will make a comission out of you and a negative flag will be in your account indicating tha you pay only taking you to callection so when you get those collection call just dont pick it up because even if you pay after having a conversation with the collector it will register as pay throug collection.. Tip.. Dont pick up  then go ahed and pay at least the minimum even after you pay they will call you continuosly for the next two days to register the call and get their commision they will stop calling after 2 days and will get nothing.. Because no phone contact was registered

I got a call from this number several time.. It is Con Edison trying to colect a unpay electric bill.. Now you know..

Got two calls from 718-514-9984 this morning, didn't answer and they didn't leave a voice mail.  Thanks for the two recent posts.  It's very helpful to know when someone else receives calls from an unknown number.  I now know not to call back and not to pick up next time.

I received a call from (718) 514-9984 today, June 28th, 2012, when I answered the call was immediately disconnected.  I redialed the number only to receive a message stating it is disconnected, what gives? I am not sure if it is a payphone, or some sort of scam in which it is expected whomever picks up the phone to answer by saying yes, attaching the voice to something involving a con.

This number keeps calling my cell and when I dialed it back a recording comes on saying that this number does not take incoming calls and to contact milatock.com...not sure of spelling because I tried everything and can't not find site...any help appreciated!
