On 09/04/11 I got a call from Darren Smith who said he was from Windows Live Support. His phone number was US-based. He had a strong Indian accent. He spent about an hour getting me to check the security aspects of my computer but would not answer the question "what are you selling?". Finally he used logmein to scan my system and said I needed to purchase an enhanced firewall for £86. I said I would check with my ISP before purchase. He said "offers off". Afterwards my Win XP installation crumbled.

This is a scam.They were asking for money.

I just got a phone call from he same guy, who tol dme that  he was calling from icrosolf head office and that my compiuter was sending reports to them. He continued saying that the Microsoft team wanted to fix my problems from all these hackers ans wanted to get a remote acces to my PC. I asked for his name and he told hw was Jack and after I refused to tell him info he passed me on to soembody else named Daniel Smith( hahahaha).  I told him how do I know that you are not the acctual hacker that has figured out my CLS ID (which they did have an it was correct too). I told him where can he be reached and got his tel # which oviously was as above. How did tehy get my CLS ID# , my phone #  an name. It's unbelivableand I am soooooo pissed off right now.

Guy called several people in my area, said he was from Microsoft and he understood their computers were causing problems.  Easy thing to get a yes answer to since most people have some kind of issue with their machine.  Had customers open a remote desktop connection and got monkeying about with the firewall.  Wanted $139 for 2 year support service, wanted a credit card.  No one gave him anything.  One customer called the number back, whoever answered was non-professional and just said the guy wasn't there call back later.  Obviously some kind of scam going on here.

Got a call from these guys today, found this on Google because of the domain care2windows.com. The guy on the line said my computer had been 'sending him signals' saying there was something wrong with it. I questioned him 'what was my ip' 'what signals' etc it was a bunch of crap obviously and the guy explained that he would get his 'senior supervisor' to answer my questions well that was just the same bunch of bull with a guy who spoke a little better english, said his name was Jack Watson and after badgering him he told me he was from care2windows.com.

Care2windows.com is clearly a bunch of crap, the number came up different than listed above. It was a 000-001-2345 kind of number.

I just got this phone call, he wanted to fix my Windows problem and was trying to get information on my PC... He said he was calling from Toronto and I asked for phone number, he gave me this number. When I said this is not a Toronto area number - he hang up.
So how does a scammer like this get my name and phone #? Is there an agancy that can put a stop to this kind of attempts to obtain personal info?

This man phoned me, told me he was from Toronto. and that I have a virus that has been sending him pings for the last 2 weeks.  He needs me to turn on my pc right now and give him the CSLID, computer Licence Code ID and he will tell me how to fix it.
I never, but I kept asking him questions, on the pretense that I would call back tomorrow.  He told me he was on an international Phone Number, working in Toronto, and that he works for Microsoft Windows - He clearly told me that a number of times, we talked about it.
When I told him I had a Mac, he hung up.

Person on the other end of the line said my PC was corrupt (error message on PC) and if I let him into my computor he would fix it.  I stated I would not let anyone into my PC until I could verify his call.  After I asked him a few times, he gave me 718-717-2648.

He said he was with Care 2 Windows.

I checked it out on Canada 411 and it is listed as a suspicious number.

Please let me know it this is valid.
