question about my computer

Got a call from this number - caller ID said "pay phone" - and yet they had the nerve to say in a middle eastern accent that they were Microsoft and my computer......At that point, I told him I had the number and was reporting it for fraud.  He gave a company name that he muttered unintelligibly - hung up.  Fraud!!!!

I'm in northern Europe, and apparently they think it's a good idea to try their hand at scamming us now. How they got a hold of an unregistered number is beyond me. At least I can talk in my native language and pretend I don't understand what they're trying to say. Oh to be able to play the dumb foreigner...

Why are they calling? I Live in uk! Never been to new york

Claims to be from Windows to try to get into your computer by saying someone is using your IP address in some other country!!!

A guy asking for the IT manager. He is just fishing for information. He did not get through.

continue to call even though asked to remove # from calling list.  will not give any information so I can report them.

Got call from 718-783-8996 today, I did not answer. The Caller ID showed: Van, Wagner Kios.

We live in Ireland and received a call from this number. Amazing - they get around. They used to call us from a different number ages ago. That time they said they were located in the UK. We used to have great fun playing their game, going along with their nonsense to the point that they hung up on us!

Never get caught with this nonsense. No self-respective business dealing in computer maintenance etc will call you demanding you let them fix your computer.

Received a call from 718-783-8996 with a recorded message stating that it was Great Lakes bank and my debit card was locked.  If I press "1", they will access and unlock my account!  I hung up ... scam!  

Called my home line.  Caller ID phone shows "PAYPHONE" as the caller.  I answered but after saying Hello several times with no response, I heard "Goodbye" and they hung up.  

Caller ID said "PAYPHONE". Answered  & he said he was with Microsoft. Had a very thick accent that sounded Indian & said his name was "David Smith"... yea right!! Told him to put me on their do not call list & hung up!! These jerks just don't give up, do they???!!!!

Caller said he was from windows 7 and my computer was sending out messages. He wanted to help me from getting hacked

Here's a change-up.  A man with an Indian accent (and much background noise) claimed to be from FedEx.  He wanted to speak with one of our engineers to confirm the address on a package he'd allegedly sent.  (We get this scam frequently from Magic Jack, which coincidentally phoned right before this call.)  I offered to take a message, but the connection was so bad, I hung up.  Then I dialed this number and got a high-pitched whine, like a fax machine.

Call from 718 783 8996 caller ID City of NY Boro. Recalled identified as "private". They know your first name and state they are calling from "Microsoft Service Center" and immediately try to get you to get on your computer. Definitely Indian (India) accent and very pushy. Allot of background noise indicative of a boiler room operation. FRAUD.

10:56pm phone rang and it was 718-783-8996 and it said it was from a pay phone. LOL. Well I didn't answer because I didn't think they even existed anymore.

this Indian gentleman stated that my windows computer has been sending him all kinds of error messages and is now going to crash. I told him - not so politely - to get off my phone, since its now 9:10pm. Said he was with Microsoft, but called from New York. Funny how that works

(718) 783-8996 fraud caller pretending to be calling from Microsoft - LIARS and THIEVES!

I received a call from 718-783-8996 last night at 11:33 PM. The caller ID said Brooklyn, New York. It was a foreign man who did not speak English well at all. The call scared me as I was asleep and getting a call in the middle of the night is usually not good. He said he was calling about an online problem with my computer - I stopped him before he got any further. I said don't ever call here in the middle of the night and tell me I am having a problem with my computer - this is obviously a scam - when I said that I heard him say something to other people in the room (it was noisy and sounded like several people were in the background talking) and then he hung up on me. I called the number back this morning when I woke up and got a fax or something loud and screeching. I will report the call to my phone company today.

Received a call from 718-783-8996 on 3/18/2013.  An Asian guy said he was calling from Microsoft and needed to talk to me about my "Windows computer."  I looked at my caller ID and it said "Payphone."  I told him to hit the road.  Why has no one stopped these people in two years?

Just received a call from this number.  The caller ID stated it was from a pay telephone.  The caller hung up as soon as I said "Hello?"

Do a double block: 1) block the number 2) pull the wire out. In the case of cell phone substitute 'battery' for 'wire' in step 2.

Indian sounding male voice said he was calling about windows 8 and they have recieves malicoious threats  i said who are u and he hung up.  When i alled the number got a fax tone

Called just now here in Toronto on my landline.  Didn't answer, no voicemail.  Calling back gets you a continuous fax tone.

They've rung my home number in France at least twice now, shame I don't pick up on unknown numbers, and as soon as the answerphone kicks in, they hang up. Can't win 'em all, eh ?

Called from "Windows Technical Support"  and said they would show me the problems if I turned on my computer and no, they didn't go into it.  Duh.
