Jason (no last name given) called from National Financial Services. He provided the phone number and address of National Financial Services. He gave me this phone number (NY area code) and an address in Toronto. Jason told me that I am one of only 50,000 Canadians that has won a tax rebate by the government of Canada. The catch, I had to give him my credit card information to him. He said that the government can't send out cheques anymore because sometimes the cheques were sometimes being delivered to the wrong address and the wrong person was cashing the cheque. I got suspicious at this point. I got further suspicious when he told me that FTE (Federal Trade Exchange) is monitoring the call. Sorry, but this is not the organization that monitors trade information in Canada. Finally, if he was calling on behalf of the Government of Canada, he would have known my ful name, not the name that appears in the phone book.  I simply told the caller that I do not give out my credit card information. At this point, he got angry at me and then hung up.
