I agree! Ain't no WAY I'm payin' bail! If they did the crime, then they can do the time! Who needs more of the undisciplined, rebellious, noncomformist types out on the street, creating mayhem and sorrow? I DON'T want it! The nerve of some criminal calling others for help when they're finally locked up, after disregarding countless pleadings and warnings to knock it off or else! Who do they think they are??? They must think they're exempt from the rules and regulations that make this moral society work. Oh well, just get back to your lives, citizens.

Frank 2013-12-14 02:26:44 Unknown
Don't know who caller is. Never answered. They call incessantly, every two or three minutes dozens of times. Block the number.
Jen 2013-12-08 16:54:05 Prank Call
Yes, this is a scam. You can have the number blocked on your phone or through your service provider. If you try to call the number back, it's a fax line. Should you receive a call like this and unsure if a loved one is in jail, you can also county to the El Paso county jail inmate page and input the last of of he person you think is trying to contact you to confirm they at NOT in jail.

Its el paso county jail. Aftet reading so many posts I thought I'd share that people in jail are trying to remember peoples phone numbers. They don't hear your voicemail to know if they have the correct number so its quite possible that they think its correct and that's why they keep calling you. Also, if you say you would like to put money on to accept the call....you will also get a follow up call asking If you would like to put money on even if you did or did not put money on originally. Kind of like a follow up call. Thats what I think.

I dont know who is calling me

Just got a call from this number on our office phone. Automated voice said it was El Paso County Jail asking to accept a collect call from --- and then someone recorded their voice in an inaudible, unintelligible voice. Nobody in my office is in jail! I hung up. I mean if you're in jail you'd call a family member or a friend right! Not your office. I suspect some sort of odd scam. And if it's not a scam - I'm not paying someone's bail!

I received a call from this number today 04/01/2013 @ about 10:00 AM. There was no response when I answered. It is likely that the Elpaso CID is using this line to spy on people. They may claim other reasons such as debt collection or such excuse that inmates are trying to reach a person. Nobody I know is in jail. This is a way of targeting citizens for unjust actions by those in authority. I have been experiencing manacing stalking and targetting by the Elpaso Sheriff Dept. This is not new.

Your and lying idiot. Doesn't really matter what your phone company said this is a number which the inmates you to call out on. Cell phone companies don't allow these phone calls without setting up a prepaid account. These calls don't charge you anything if you just hang up. Most likely an inmate dialed or has the wrong number wrote down for a family member. Know what your talking about before you start typing on here because now you just look like an idiot.

Just talked w/the desk at the El Paso County Justice Center and he told me to call 719-390-2000 during office hours and ask for Michelle. She can block your number so it can not be called from the jail.
Mush 2012-11-16 03:41:53 Unknown
Had exactly the same experience and called the El Paso County Sheriff's Department and got no help there..told me not to give any information and ignore them. Also called back and got the fax.
MB 2012-11-15 16:46:49 Fax Machine
When I answered my cell phone, the call was disconnected. No message was left on my voicemail. I called the number and it seemed to be a fax line by the sounds I heard on the other end... When looking it up online, I found the number connected to the El Paso County Jail. I'm not sure why my number would have been dialed from there... especially from a fax line. I am not sure how to stop the call from happening again.

This is not scam. A family member got arrested and this number is the one they used. I tried to call back but the number isn't set up that way. Whether you know someone who got locked down or not is another matter, but it's not fraud.
Wow 2012-05-08 19:36:14 Unknown
I just got this too. It started yesterday, and now it is going on all day too. I do not recognize the name, and it sounds like a guys voice.
duh! 2012-02-27 20:42:26 Unknown
it's a scam...rocky is just probably part of it...They keep calling and the # you call back on is a fax machine. The hope is probably that you set up an account so they can take your money...why would someone be calling collect from a jail to a phone in the same area code? interesting?, nope I say scam.
Celeste Wolfaardt 2012-02-21 20:03:31 Unknown
This person calls at various times of the day or night
Rocky 2012-01-11 18:01:18 Unknown
This is the # the inmate phones show when someone tries to call you from jail. it is not a scam. Seriously people. Stop freaking out.
ThinkAboutIt 2011-12-05 19:43:31 Unknown
ATTN EVERYBODY-
This could be a scam by an inmate who is trying to get you to set up an account so they can call their friends on your dime. The way it works is once your account is set up, they enter your number when calling their friends and you get billed for the call.
The best thing to do is try to find out who is making the call, and if you don't know the person to block them.
C.J.Shisler 2011-12-05 19:31:38 Unknown
I did not or could not understand what was all said. But I heard county jail. and I denied the call. then I called back (thanks to caller ID) and it was an internet call and I understand these calls can not be traced!
Jazmin 2011-11-15 04:15:26 Unknown
If you get a call from this number, it MAY be an inmate or detainee, trying to reach Family or friends. Call 719-390-2000, The El Paso Criminal Justice Center, to see if it might be a family member or friend before accepting collect calls or giving anyone your credit card information.
KB24 2011-10-20 15:53:07 Unknown
I received 17 calls from this number yesterday, beginning at 5am.
stickler 2011-08-12 17:50:28 Unknown
The phone number comes from a company called global tell. They handle the collect calls for that specific jail, and many others. If they have called your cellphone then they want you to set up an account to accept the inmates future calls. It is NOT a scam...simply press 5 to block out all calls, if not then its your problem!! You'll still receive them from who ever is trying to contact you. Hope this helps:)

I had SIX messages on our company's general voicemail system on Friday--each an hour apart. The same message--in Spanish, so I've not clue what the message was saying. The only English part was "El Paso County Criminal Justice Center". Very annoying.
Shelbi 2011-07-04 04:28:06 Unknown
I answered it and it said El Paso Criminal Justice Center and it said some inmate name then it ended and says you carrier does not accept collect calls. It was weird
Lakay348 2011-06-27 17:12:08 Unknown
It is definetely a a big SCAM... I don't care what you say about it. I just called my service provider and was confirmed that the phone is a FAX machine number. From the recorded message from (719) 392-4357) to block press #7 and to complete blocking you have to call an 800 number which will tell you to subscribe to a long distance phone service.

This is a service you can set up on your phone for an inmate in El Paso county jail Colorado so you can get calls from them. It is pre paid account that you put money on to get calls from someone in jail. you have to give them your info and who may call. so I am not sure why they could get through to you if you haven't approved your number for this inmate to call. Not sure how helpful that was but thats how it has worked for me haha.
maddd 2011-06-06 20:55:51 Unknown
got the same call, and it is from someone inside the jail trying to reach you. I went through did the pre paid thing and talked to the person trying to reach me.
