The Statute of Limitations does not mean what you seem to think it means. It is not something that can be violated.  In the case of criminal acts, it sets the maximum time after which the State can no longer prosecute the alleged criminal.  In the case of civil torts such as defaulted debt, it sets the maximum time after which the debtor can no longer be sued to collect the debt. It does not, however, prevent a debt holder from attempting to collect, only the ability to sue to collect has been lost.  As always, check your state's legal code for the exact details and consult a consumer attorney if you need legal assistance with debt collectors.

Bill collectors for very old cell phone bills. They're just hoping we're dumb enough to be afraid of "legal action". Next time they call, tell them you've notified your attorney because they've violated the Statutes of Limitations!

just received the same call as listed above, answered and nobody replied to me so I hung up. I then called back from a different phone and asked the name of the company and what they were.  The guy said they are "National Locating Corporation" and they locate people who are in legal trouble, then asked if I was calling from the number they called, I let him know I was not, and he pressed me for my cell number. I let him know that I am not in any legal trouble, so he switched it up to say it was likely that I was a contact information for someone who IS in legal trouble, and pressed me again for my cell number. I let him know that I don't deal with other people's legal troubles so they are on their own, and hung up.  then blocked that number on my cell phone. these people are scam artists, crappy that they probably succeed with these kind of scare tactics on people who are less skeptical then I am.

Everyday for the past week at around the same time I have gotten a call from 720-242-5689 and they hang up each time I call. Today I answered but said nothing, a woman on the other end said hello and as soon as I responded she hung up. I called the number and it was the National Locating Company. A message said all agents are busy and disconnected me. I realize this is a scam--I just want them to stop calling my damn cell phone.

They just called and asked if anyone would be home to accept legal documents for Jeremy Manis and that they would only attempt twice. Don't even know this person.

Debt Collector
They called someone I know asking for info about me for "legal action" against me. They used much the same scare tactics as the one I see referenced. If there were true legal action, papers would be served in the proper format through proper channels. There is no such legal action against me and if a law enforcement officer was looking for me, my address is up to date on my driver's license. Scam.

Recevied a call from this number a few minutes ago. As soon as I answered the phone, the caller immediately launched into a speil about the call being recorded and that any information attained would be used for legal purposes. She wanted to know if anyone would be at my home to be served legal papers, as I was the contact person on record for somebody who was in trouble with the law.

I asked to her slow down and to please explain to me once again what was going on. She mentioned someone's name and asked if I knew her. I told her that I did not. The caller informed me that a note would be added to the file and that the person who used me as a false contact would face legal conseqences for listing me as a contact. I asked her if the person who used me as a contact referenced me by name, or if the person had referenced me by phone number (meaning, which one was it?) the caller said, "correct." I pushed the caller for clarification, then she hung up on me.

I called the number back and got a recording for National Locating Corporation. The entire experience was fishy. Upon further research, I was able to confirm this is a scam.
