Do you have some info on this number?

They said they were from the credit department from my magazine im subscribed to , Same exact thing as all you, except I was keen to what their intentions were in the first place. So i kinda led them on and then went nuts... I called the FDA and FTC and reported this and another number that called.

the call originated in colorado but i believe it is a VOIP, when i called back it sent me to a voicemail similar to cell phones

The FTC also gave me a number for do not call list for telemarketing which is 88838212222

I received a phone call yesterday from these people. The first girl spoke fast telling me she was not selling me anything and said something about the magazine subscriptions and mention Maxim. (My wife actually did get me a subscription to Maxim, but I do not read since she slaps me when I pick it up.)

The first caller said something about a survey and I thought she asked about favorite credit card. She listed off four types for me to choose from.
I said "Visa"

Then she said she was new on the job and was going to transfer me to her supervisor to let her know that she did a good job and was "polite and courteous", I said sure.

The supervisor asked if she was polite and courteous and I said yes. Then the supervisor goes on to tell me that I'm billing billed $49.98 for 5 magazines and that I had a few months left in subscription. I told her that is like $10 bucks a magazine and I was unaware of this and I'm going to cancel. She said they would only me to cancel within the first 30 days. I said I will check with my bank to see if this $49.98 is being deducted from my account each month and I would close down my bank account to stop being billed. (She said my Visa was being billed, hmmm that was the same type of card i picked in the survey)

She hung up on me.

I called my bank and they verified I was not being billed.

Person called to verify that I was receiving the magazines that I was paying 2.99/week for.  I told them I was not receiving any magazines and I wanted to speak with a supervisor.  They said not a problem that they just needed to get some information before they passed me to the supervisor.  They asked if the magazines were coming to  my home address at 43232 fdsafgafdsaf way and I said just pass me to your supervisor.  They hung up on me.  They were trying to get me to verify my credit card information so they could bill me the 2.99/week.  SCAM SCAM SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
