Man called and stated he needed to confirm my magazine order and credit card information. He read off a visa card and number and asked if that is correct number. I stated I had not ordered any magazines and to take me off the call list. Man became rude and wanted confirmation of credit card. I would not confirm. Card and number he had is an old debit/credit card number that is no longer active and not even the same kind. (visa / mastercard) Called our bank and let them know what happened. Do Not give out any information to these people. They are a scam.

I first got a call frrom this number attempting to confirm that I had magazines coming to the house through their publishers' clearinghouse to the tune of about $3.75 per week. When I asked what magazines they were referring to, they said they couldn't say due to privacy issues. They said they would send a master list of all the magazines they handle so that I could switch my subscription to other magazines at any time. The caller, "Tom" asked a few other questions like age and address and if I held any credit cards, which I refused to answer. He said his supervisor would call in a while to check that he was polite and competent and that he was up for a promotion so hoped I would give a good report. He also warned that another company might call to get me to switch my subscription(s) and that I should say I was satisfied with my present supplier.
I was baffled because I only have one subscription and it's prepaid and isn't that expensive. The call was odd.
A few minutes later, a female called and reiterated most of the info and spoke so quickly I could hardly understand what she was saying ( a technique, I'm sure) She then told me that I could no longer pay my bill by check or money order and would need to pay by credit card....the final "aha" moment and I said..."I am ending this call."
