Someone from the number 727-252-0512 called me twice today. The first time I answered and got no response...they hung up. The second time they called while I was out, but both times they called my cell phone. I don't know who they are and don't want them calling me anymore, especially after what I've read online in regard to the number

JOEB: I wish I could setup an automatic forward for restricted calls in my list of contacts. Genius!!!

Anyways, I never get that far with scammers so I don't know what they wanted, but their phone number was already listed in my blocked call list in my Razr's directory. I don't remember when I added it but after I found this site using google for a different phone number, I decided to search other phone numbers I have blocked om the past and sure enough.

If the phone number (727)252-0512 from Florida, or if any person calls you telling you you have won a free trip for 3 days and 2 nights DO NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER!!! They will tell you they have your bank information and they just need to confirm it by asking you for the account number and routing number. DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS INFORMATION!!! It is a SCAM!!! They will tell you it's a great offer, might transfer you to a manager, or anything to get you to fall into their trap. Don't buy it! Ask for a number where you can reach them at, and contact law enforcement. It is a scam being run by only 2 people, and they have ripped off A LOT of people! They tell you you have won a free trip with airfare included for 3 days and 2 nights. They tell you all you have to do is confirm your bank account information and sign up for other offers, but when you get the offers and you do not want them all you have to do is simply cancel them. This is not the case. No company ever needs your ROUTING NUMBER for anything!!! Many people have gotten the offers in the mail, and when they go to call the numbers to cancel their membership it turns out to be a phony number, and their bank account is charged with outrageous fees from different companies, including LUCID phone company. They steal your information and you money! DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!! You can, also, type in the phone number above in a search on your computer. Try it and see all the things that come up for this scam! If they contact you tell them you are not interested, and call law enforcement! If they continue to call put your name on the Do Not Call List with the government.

Both my daughter and a co-worker got a call from these people this morning. The ONLY thing the two of them have in common is that they both use Sprint for their cell phone service.

Does anyone else who received one of these calls use Sprint? Perhaps it is a complaint we should be filing with the cell phone company.

These people called me and asked for my bank account information. when I refused to give it, I hung up, and called the number back. I was then treated VERY rudely and hung up on a few times before I was given a "customer service" number to call.

I had a bunch of calls from this number (727-252-0512), and they never left a message.  I tried to call it back, and got a "circuts are busy, please try again" message.  I immediately tried to call again, and an Erik from some travel company (which was muffeled) answered the call.  I hung up.  I immediately called back.  Again, Erik (the same voice) answered the call, stating the name of the travel company, which again, was unclear.  I once again hung up.  Figuring I'd give them a taste of their own medicine, I called back.  Erik answered the call with a frustrated "Hello?"...  I could tell it was Erik again.  I then hung up again figuring that one more call and I would make my point, and when I called back numerous times, guess what?  All circuts were busy.  Finally, after about 4 more immediate calls, I got prompted to an automated voice stating that if I wanted to collect my free gift, press 1.  If I wanted to pass my free gift onto someone else, press 2.  I pressed 2!  Leave me alone 727-252-0512...

Yep, the guy called me saying I had won a free vacation. He said that I recently used some pay service and the he had to confirm my bank account information. I said that if he could confirm the first number of my account for ME that I'd think about it. He couldn't, so I told him I'd have to decline and hung up... a***oles.

I just received a call from this number and answered it only because I have relatives all over the country and didn't recognize the number.  Fortunately for me, the call was cut off before I spoke with anybody.  So I searched for the number and found this site.  Thanks for the heads up on this scam.  Rest assured, I will be passing the word along to everyone I know.

PisToff, think about what you wrote for a moment. I know it might hurt, but try. Your number is very similar to the one in these postings. There are probably thousands of people receiving calls from that number. The calls you have been receiving have not been forwarded to you. The people who have been calling you, MISDIALED THE NUMBER. Indirectly, you are being affected by this scheme, but c'mon...

I received a call from this number today, on my cell. When I called back, I got a recording. The recording informed me that I had won some free gifts. To accept them, I was to press 1. To decline them, press 2. Knowing this must be some sort of telemarketing scheme, I pressed 2. It then asked me to confirm that I wanted my phone number removed from this program. I confirmed this and was then informed that my number would be removed within 24 hrs. Annoying? Yes. A life-changing experience? I don't think so. The info these companies have is on someone's mailing list, FOR WHICH YOU SIGNED UP. If these types of calls drive you so insane as to be pulling your hair out (like some of the posters above), add your number to the national "no call" directory, people. And STOP PUTTING YOURSELVES ON MAILING LISTS.

I got a call on my cell phone and it was a recorded message saying for me to hold on for an important message and I hung up.  I then googled and got this group.  NEVER NEVER NEVER give anyone your routing or banking information let alone even confirm your name and address.  IT IS A SCAM and if you do, please call your bank IMMEDIATELY and report it.  Please be aware that it is similar to Identity Theft.

I've been getting a call from this number almost, if not, everyday, and It's been going on for what seems like weeks.  The first time I answered there was no-one there, then every time after that I didn't pick up.  No messages were left but they kept persisting to call.  Then today I answered again after ignoring them for so long, and no one was there yet again.  Why keep calling me?  Why not say anything when I pick up?  I expect it to go away, but should I worry?  I live in California, so could it simply have something to do with trying to make me pay for longer distance calls?  Crazy stuff.

Regarding the Fidelity National Information Services theft
Also mentioned on the Coast to Coast AM radio program!

http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9739277-7.html

July 3, 2007 10:46 AM PDT
Credit agency suffers 'misappropriation' of 2.3 million consumer records
Florida-based Fidelity National Information Services on Tuesday announced a "misappropriation of consumer data" by a former employee of its Certegy Check Services subsidiary.

The former employee allegedly sold 2.3 million consumer records to a data broker who, in turn, sold the information to various marketing organizations. The records contained information on 2.2 million bank accounts and 990,000 credit card accounts, according to FIS. ....

I am forwarding to you the response from our compliance/security department from our bank.

TO: BANK from compliance/security :
Congratulations to your customer on properly responding to the inquiries.  Unfortunately, some people do not and then it creates all kinds of a mess as you well know.

Forwarded from Bank TO: LL

As to tracing the callers number, these are generally fruitless efforts for two possible reasons:  1.) it is a simple disposable or stolen cell number that will only for a limited amount of time and which was obtained using false information; or 2) they are using a phone number simulator which provides false identification information to your caller ID system and therefore is in no way either an accurate identifier of the caller location.  These scam artists are now using these systems to cause people to think that they are receiving a local call when in fact they are receiving an Internet international call from third world criminals. (not to say that now some US criminals are not learning to use the same systems).

I would suggest that LL continue to be very cautious, as it is clear that an information file on her is being built by someone with a clear intent to eventually defraud her and/or assume her identity.  She needs to continue to carefully monitor her account activity, and be sure to periodically pull her free annual credit reports.  (I pull one from each of the 3 credit bureaus in rotation every 4 months so I am using my one free per year to get a report every 4 months).

I hope that this helps.

TO: (MY BOSTON BANK)and copied to this site on 6/26/07

On 6/26/07 at 6:47 I received a phone call from a woman at 727-252-0512 who told me I had won $400 in air line vouchers. (They have tried to call several times) I asked her how she got my information. She mentioned because I had made a purchase using my valid bank account or debit card I was entitled to this win. She asked me for the name of my bank and I said XXXXXX Bank.  She began to give me a routing number but not mine and I said it was wrong.  She asked the bank name again and I said XXXXXXX Savings. She actually read off my bank routing number, address, and my first name.  She said she couldn't pronounce my last name and wanted to verify it and know if my middle initial appeared on the account.   She then asked for my account number and I told her firmly I was not about to give out that information!  I said thank you and hung up.  I felt very leery about this and looked up the phone number on Goggle and found this site.

I got this call.. they read off my name and address, and then proceeded to tell me i won stuff.. i asked them if i had to pay anything at all.. they said no... then told me i would recieve a package in the mail.. and i would call right when i got the mail to cancle and i would get a free vacation. i asked probably 5 times what would happen if i called.. lol no answer finally she said that i would be charged.

The 'company' that called me was called Travel Life, I looked up other info on the numbers and people said they were charged by a company called District Advantage.
I called the number back that called me and it gave an option to cancel the 'free gifts'..

THEY ARE A SCAM defenatly!
they are part of the Suntasia company.

I called my bank and told them to beware a company that will possibly charge my account. I called the Suntasia company and the chick on there told me that everything is perfectly legal.. (what scaming people is legal?)

DONT VERIFY ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i just have to wait now.. and see if i'm going to be charged. i never verified my account or anything.. they already knew my name and of course i verified that when i said 'hello this is'.

They go by lots of other names too so befware. that

I mean hell i dont know exactly how i got it..
I have recieved ONE free thing over a marketing thing before, but thats because it was a timeshare. I went to the timeshare I got a vacation and I went on it. just had to pay tax but I still got to go on a vacation.. THAT one was ligit, because they didnt have to verify any accounts or anything like that..

Look up their customer service number too .. you'll find ALOT with that one too...

For three weeks I have been getting a different kind of phone call but it orginaltes from the same place. I have had at least 15 people from all over the eastern seaboard calling me asking me why I keep calling them. The number they recite back to me is 727-252-051x. Lets just say the last digit is different then the 0512 you all have complained about. Here's the new twist. I live in PA area code 717. When people call back to the 727-252-051X they are not put through to Florida but to Pennsylvania instead.
I have filed a report with the phone co. who tell sme it will be hard to correct because another phone company services this state. All they could tell me was that it is a travel agency in Florida.
I decided to pop the number in my web browser to see what comes up. Thats how I found you all. I have given this information to my phone company who says Federal laws will allow them to go after the Florida Phone Co to take care of this situation. So to all of you with complaints call you phone companies and report the phone scam!
