What idiot calls a member at 6:18a.m on a Saturday?? Certainly not anyone from a bonafide company. Sure enough, it looks like the number is a phishing scam. Seriously, what a dumb a**...blocked.

PSI will also use a different phone number each time they try to call you. It's all about USAA raising your car insurance. I told them i have no changes from the last survey and they would not accept that answer. So i said I don't have time right now.I would assume they get a portion for any insurance increase they squeeze out of you.

Its a legit call from their survey company. But you're not technically required to provide them any further information than is stated on your policy. Trust me, if USAA thinks some things wrong with your account they'll call you every day from their actual number till they do. You're supposedly (according to them) required to do these stupid deals every policy term. I haven't done it for the last 3 and there hasn't been issues.

I received quite a few phone calls over the last week from this number 727-373-7491 claiming we needed to update our insurance policy.

I got a postcard or two in the mail from USAA saying I should expect a call from PSI.  I don't know why I need someone to review my policy.  I review it every 6 months and if I have any questions I would call USAA (haven't changed policy in years).  I have now gotten a few calls from this and other numbers.  This caller ID was simply "Florida".  One left a professional message while others have just left background noise messages.  I find this very unprofessional on the part of USAA.  My parents got me started on USAA but left for something better.  I may start looking around too though I have been quite pleased before now.

they called (Michael) saying that he was updating our USAA Auto Insurance Policy.  They knew what cars we owned and he said he was trying to update usual mileage but did not ask policy number or personal info.  Do I need to call USAA and tell them about this call

They are calling to make sure there haven't been any changes and you don't need to update you policy.  I never answer these calls.  If I have a change, I'll call them.

My message from this number has been similar to many of these accounts as well. Calling about USAA but no further info besides a phone number. Strong accent, fast talking and barely intelligible. When fraud is so rampant, why outsource, USAA?!?!

EXCELLENT, informative post. USAA is doing exactly as described. Don't help them raise your rates and profiting by data mining your personal information as well as selling it to the next round of bidders.

This is from the third party company PSI calling on behalf of USAA, to verify our auto insurance information-- they asked for either me directly. They do these on a regular basis - every year and USAA did send out notice via postcard to let me know to expect this call. I was at work & let the company know this.  He mentioed that he would be brief, so I did take the call.  Total time was less than 4 minutes.  I updated the amount of miles that I drive, I updated to my new address I just moved to, mentioned that both vehicles are housed inside my garage at night (which gives me a discount now) and the person calling already had my personal information which I was not required to supply so in fact -  it's legit.

If you don't want the possibility of receiving any reductions on your next premium due to less miles driven, security devices on your vehicle which may have been overlooked - then you have the choice not to answer.

Received this call; didn't pick up and let it go to VM.  It's from an outfit working for USAA doing insurance surveys.
They left a legit USAA number.  I don't understand why USAA can't just look at my updated insurance profile and not bother me with this.

If USAA don't get their s*** together, they will be loosing this 34 year member of USAA pretty damn soon when I kick them to the curb and find some better insurance company.

Received a call at 6:53 PM on 8/30/12, didn't recognize number, so didn't answer; it went to voice mail and got about 10 seconds of very noisy background noise - kind of like a boiler room operation.

I've received several calls from this number.  They only left one voice mail.  The caller had a very heavy accent (India?) and about the only word I understood was "USAA".  I'm leery about this.  I have never received a letter from USAA and it's not like them to outsource this sort of thing.  I would have expected a call from their 800 number or in the very least the 210 area code.

If they're asking for driver's license numbers as others have stated then I really question the validity of these calls.

If they're legit I really think USAA needs to rethink this.  Having a heavily accented caller call from an unfamiliar number asking for personal information sends red flags.

I also got a call from the above listed phone #.  I had gotten a letter from USAA that PSI would be calling.
This msg that was left did not identify  as PSI nor did the phone # when it came in.
Bottom line,
this is NOT from USAA as it's policy for any rep of USAA to so identify themselves and acknowledge the letter from USAA and their company as PSI ...

This is from the third party calling on behalf of USAA, to verify our auto insurance information-- they asked for either me or my husband. They do these on a regular basis (every year? every couple of years?), and USAA did send out notice via postcard to let me know to expect this call. I was at work and unable to take the call, but the voicemail left the regular USAA customer service number as a call-back number, so it's legit.

A person speaking very broken English called my cell stating it was on behalf of USAA.  When I asked them to call my home phone number for better reception they didn't have it which is strange because it is my USAA primary contact number.  Sounded shady even though USAA did advise someone would be calling to go over my automobile policy.

If this is a "survey" company for USAA, as some suggest above, then why do they (a) have misinformation (eg "Sgt" when there is no "Sgt" on my policy), and (b) ask me to ensure they have accurate information about my auto policy?

A definite scam, intended to: (1) tactically benefit USAA, who hopes to be able to raise your rates (in addition to the money they make selling PSI the 'lead' ... which is your telephone number; and (2) strategically benefit PSI after they harvest your personal information ... for later research, correlation, and eventual sale to third partites.

This is only one of the numbers they use.  Here's links to another number PSI uses.  Don't be fooled.

The number 727-373-7491 is for a company called PSI - Professional Surveys Incorporated.  I received a letter from USAA that they would be calling to update information regarding my auto insurance policy.  The questions were basic, but I was still very uncomfortable that a 3rd party company had all my personal information.  I have heard from other reviewers that rates increased shortly after the survey was complete.

This number belongs to PSI who is hired by USAA.   The do send out letters to notify of the phone call.  My husband works at USAA and has been in charge of this program.   I had just received a call from this number also and let it go to voice mail but there was no message left.  I looked on line as others and put 2 and 2 together, called my husband and he told me that on your caller ID, it should come up USAA/PSI.  If you do receive a call from this number it is legit!  You can go to USAA.com and put PSI in the search area if you need further verification.
