I Received a call from this number today. I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer. I'm glad I didn't after reading these posts. Information for everyone that may help you. 1st list your home and cell numbers with the National Do Not Call Registry online at www.donotcall.gov/. 2nd I have placed a phone message on my voice mail which is easy to do that greets all callers by my my nickname. The recording then says. "IF THIS IS A TELEMARKETER OR TELEPHONE SURVEY PER F.C.C. REGULATIONS CEASE CALLING AND PUT THIS NUMBER ON YOUR COMPANY DO NOT CALL LIST; ALL OTHERS LEAVE YOUR MESSAGE AT THE BEEP". This serves as the required National Do Not Call warning which will then allow to to file a complaint. Hope this helps everyone....

It's the mailing department of the Church of Scientology. They called me back. I told the guy not to call me and to remove my number from their records, and he said, "I can't do that." I hung up and he called me back again.

You are being way too scary! I think the point he was making was that the e-meter technology is not a solid one. He fooled them w/o being detected. So, how many others have done the same? This is a complaint site. You should really waste your good energy on disseminating to others that may listen. It falls on deaf ears in this forum.

MnM,
Why are you on this board, giving excuses for your cult? This board is for people who are being harrassed by your cult. In fact, you're probably the one making those irritating non-stop phone calls!
Use an airhorn 2012-06-25 06:09:14 Unknown
MnM,
Well nobody else on this board "gets" anything out of scientology. What are you doing on this board anyway? It's suppose to be for complainers, not cult members like yourself to make excuses.
For everyone else.....Use an airhorn! There is a special going on at Dollar Tree, tons of airhorns for $1!!!!

MnM,
You are a colossal waste of energy. Why are you on this board? This board is for callers who have been irritated or harrassed by a caller. So your cult fits exactly.
You must be one of the culties, going on different websites and trying to appear "normal" while trying to clean up the malignant reputation of your dangerous cult. Are you working on a "liability" formula??? Bwaaaaaahaaaaa!
Go peddle your kool-aid elsewhere

You are bragging at your ability to cheat on a test? To lie? You can scam the government, you can scam customers, hell you can scam your spouse.....you can scam the Catholic church, too, while we're at it. The media scams people, the government scams people.... and you can cheat on the E Meter, just like you can cheat on the SAT's and GRE's. You found a loophole....that doesn't devalue the process when done correctly. You are looking for what doesn't work, rather than getting what you can out of what does work. The meter needle gauges your emotions and reactions....so if you are thinking "I love Mom, I love Mom" .... you are creating an emotional and mental picture in order to manipulate your answers; it lacks integrity. So you are cheating, not them. Why take a test that you feel the need to cheat on? If you don't want to truly measure what you're feeling, but pretend and manipulate what others will think you are feeling, why bother?? Just like having an affair..... why be part of something you have to fake?
Colossal waste of energy.

Well said. I completely agree with you on your explanation there.
It is a bit of a Catch22 that Hubbard wrote that Dianetics and Scientology should continue to evolve, but that established a policy against altering Source. I could understand not altering the techniques and formulas and philosophy at the foundation of the religion....just like you wouldn't go change lines in the bible or the Koran, but being unable to alter BAD policies....that damages rather than promotes the religion, opposite of what is intended.
It is a shame because there is a ton of wisdom in the pages written by Hubbard.... I hate that people get turned off by the pushy calls and mailings, something so easily preventable.
You wrote:
"It saddens me that some good experiences with Scientology have been overshadowed by this kind of mindless, misguided behavior that poisons any thought I ever have of being re-involved."
I still can find value in the wisdom and practicality Scientology DOES offer. Why let a bad policy ruin that? Flaws do not have to negate qualities....

You will NEVER be removed from a list there. Records are kept forever, and as you can see, used. Only people who are blacklisted will not receive calls.
You always have the option (for free) to block a phone # from calling you, through your phone company.
I personally get a lot out of Scientology, but the incessant calling is beyond aggravating. Almost everyone I know involved has very good intentions, but the approach is lacking... pushes people away.
Anyway.... block them if you really want it stopped.

This number is from the Flag Service Organization in Clearwater, Florida. They are desperate to sell scientology books and courses to people who have bought anything from them in the past. Just tell them you want off their sucker list. You can report them to Pinellas County Consumer Protection:

Called back and man lied to me stating, "I didn't call you".
Rastis 2012-03-13 02:15:44 Unknown
These people are complete FREAKS! If they think you are a "Blown out member" or you know of one, the "Org" or organization wants to know. It has brainwashed their dumbasses to "Snitch" out others. You CAN NOT reason with them! They do not listen and will only stop when law enforcement steps in. Give them NOTHING, no information, not even the time of day.Be as rude as possible, don't let them get a word in edgewise. Treat them like the shitbirds that they are......
irritated 2012-03-13 02:12:03 Unknown
OH my freaking word!!! A local phone number just called this same STUPID company. I told them I was dead. He apologized...I'm sorry I'll remove the number and not call again.
This was one call from Florida and then a call from CA. Minutes from each other.
irritated 2012-03-13 02:03:14 Unknown
I took one of their courses some 20+ years ago. They hook you up to a lie detector to see if you are CLEAR. I kept repeating my head along with DEEP BREATHING exercises to relax... I love my mom. I love my mom. AND I passed...I was clear. HA!!!! FREAKING NUTS. They just want your money the total scam artists. Not a religion but a total false religion.

He knew a lot of info about me but mostly out of date stuff. Not sure how he got my current phone #.

The Church of Scientology policy about mailing lists, as written by founder L Ron Hubbard decades ago, is to *never* remove a name from the lists unless one of 2 things occur:
1) The person is deceased.
2) Legal action is threatened/begun
There are no other ways to be removed ...ever. This was still in force when Hubbard died in the 1980s. No one but Ron can alter "Source" (anything ever written by L Ron Hubbard), and since he is no longer around to revise or cancel this written policy, this policy will never die. They will continue to update lists any way they can and continue writing or calling as long as Scientology exists.
Even the two acceptable ways to get off the list are not foolproof ...I witnessed it disobeyed when the Head of the Communications Department looked at a piece of mail returned, marked "deceased," and told me to continue sending promotional materials anyway because someone at the address might open it, read about Scientology, and then decide to buy a book or begin a service --however, this was against Church policy and should not have occurred (human error of a sort). Any call is really an attempt to make contact and get into some kind of dialog introducing Scientology or rehabilitating a past member's desire to be involved. These calls will not cease.
If you don't know how to block calls on your phone, call your phone company and find out how. I just keep adding numbers to the Block list on my account. It saddens me that some good experiences with Scientology have been overshadowed by this kind of mindless, misguided behavior that poisons any thought I ever have of being re-involved. Good luck.

DEFINATELY A SCIENTOLOGY CALL. HOW ANNOYING.
TigersMom46 2012-01-15 20:08:58 Unknown
Keep a good old fashion "whistle" by your phone.
STEP 1 - Get the unknown caller to start talking and then let them have it. Try to blow their darn eardrums out.
STEP 2 - Listen for signs of life. Then hang up.
See if you get a repeat call from them. If you do ...repeat STEP 1
This way WE become the WHISTLEBLOWERS !!!

Cult-gone-wild 2011-11-14 05:35:14 Unknown
This is the cult of scientology pestering people again. They have become so desperate, that they are digging up their old lists of people who bought a book/ did a course/ or did a personality test.... going as far back as 1970's. They are relentless and will not stop.
They have plenty to worry about.....the latest PR nightmare they have to face is:

My husband and I once had dealings with them but that was 17-18 years ago and at least three phone numbers ago. When the dealings stopped it was made clear that we wanted nothing more to do with them. They constantly call me and my mother's house, and since I either don't live there or don't pick up the phone they hang up. I want their phone calls to stop.
Dee 2011-11-09 18:06:22 Unknown
Getting calls from this number at least once a day, no response when you pick up (yet). I texted back to the number and told them to stop, obviously didn't work just got another one. Did not get a message it was a land line phone. I no longer answer calls I do not have in my contacts, just disconnect it. Still annoying and just how did they get my number since I am on a National Do Not Call list???
Bob Smith 2011-10-22 15:11:39 Unknown
Getting 1-2 calls a day from this number for a couple of weeks, Won't identify themselves or leave a message, which is the sure sign of a high-pressure sales pitch.
