Debt Collector
THEIR STOCK IS WAY DOWN SINCE THIS CAMPAIGN STARTED. FAR WORSE THAN THE DROPS ON WALL STREET. EVERYONE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Reverse boycott. Together we are destroying their cost/benefit ratio by consuming their service. Their legal model is less vulnerable than their business model. Individual efforts against their legal model have failed for years. This united effort against their business model is succeeding.

When a company can repeatedly call with the intent of getting money their customers can repeatedly answer or call back with the intent of not giving them any. They need people to pay with as little talk as possible. They don't want to talk with people who know they are never going to pay. Be all talk and no pay. Answer when convenient. Call back. Give no information. Verify nothing. Ask as many questions as you can. Answer none.

Don't ignore/block/report them. It doesn't work. These folks want you to ignore them for as long as you can stand to or until you give them something valuable like money or information. Ignoring them is being their good customer. Sending a cease and desist is giving information. It lets them know you are still alive and remain their good customer. Preparing to initiate unlikely individual legal battles is being their good customer.

Be their bad customer. Make them talk to you fruitlessly for as long as they can stand to or until they stop selecting you as their customer. These companies cannot spend seconds much less minutes on the phone with every person who will never send them a dime. But they don't know who that is. You do. That knowledge is power. Every second you can keep their staff on the phone will render their business less profitable giving them a reason to never call you again.

Calling will not reset your SOL. Making a partial payment will.

I like to ask general questions they should but usually won't answer, "May I have the name and address of your agent for service of process?" Calmly and slowly ask them to spell every word in the address. Read it back for verification. Control the pace. If they are rushing then politely ask them to slowly repeat. "Are you a corporation and if so in which state are you incorporated?" Repeat your questions when you don't get direct answers. When they won't answer a question ask, "Would you like to comply with the business and professions codes of your state?" That is usually the point when they hang up on me but if they say they want to comply then begin your questions again.

Repeat while you have the spare time. These folks have many victims and few operators. If everyone calls back but pays nothing the mass auto-dialer business model becomes unprofitable. Don't aide and comfort the enemy by ignoring them. Call! Have a nice long slow friendly chat! Make them hang up first.

Press 2 for Spanish.

For any business, customers who consume the most resources but don't pay (or otherwise add value) become the least desirable. Most businesses will stop (cease and desist) soliciting an undesirable customer. Those that don't stop remain knowingly vulnerable to the actions of their undesirable customers. Few companies can afford to let everyone take a piece of them whenever they want endlessly. For instance they must pay staff to answer everyone's telephone calls which can be placed at your convenience for the joy of it. Call and consume their operator time without paying or giving information. Be a bad customer. The worst customer. Inspire them to invoke their right to refuse you service by not soliciting you.

There are certainly enough victims to take down this company so ignoring/blocking seems downright Orwellian to me. Really? We're just going to passively submit and go with a block list or however we manage ignoring an endless stream of unwanted phone calls day after day? Hell no! Unite or remain conquered. Answer/return every call - become well practiced at keeping these folks on the phone - or count yourself not amongst the free.

even debt collectors cannot call, complain to the ftc, or send letter asking for all paperwork on the ALLEDGED debt. never admit anything to them and NEVER give our info, just keep asking them to adbide by the collections laws by sending you all documents regarding debt, but DO NOT ADMIT TO OWNING THE DEBT, DONT' TEL THEM ANYTHING JUST KEEP ASKING THEM FOR THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT, MOST OF THEM CAN'T PONY UP, CAUSE DEBTS GET SOLE TO OTHER IDIOTS PROTECT YOURSELF, RESEARCH WITH RIGHTS USE LOCAL COURTS IF NEED BE.

That sound too good to be true and it probably is.  These people are not nice they will try to get money out of you whativer they can.  If you think they will remove something from you credit report, or stat calling you again, when another company purchases the debt for pennies on the dollar, you will just begin the phone process all over again. Dont' believe them, if you do I have a bridge I can sell you. Smarten up and do your research

I had a magicjack phone number but the unit broke and never used it since. However, MagicJack just notified me that I had a 29 minute voice mail message from 7312158010,  Amazing that their connection would stay on the line for 29 minutes.

get calls daily, multiple times a day.....talked to someone once! After they called my fiance's cell phone looking for me. Trying to collect on a so called debt from 10 years ago! Checked statue of limitations for the state that I haven't lived in in 8 years, and it is way past! Very frustrating, but PORTFOLIO RECOVERY just tries to scam u into paying something that either isn't even yours or doesn't even exist on your credit report. Ignore them! Here are all the numbers I have that they have called from: 757-864-0020    620-662-1492    731-984-7690     731-215-8010  unfortunately there are more, but my cell phone only keeps most 10 recent calls...

Send Portfolio Recovery a letter of Cease Communication. They HAVE to stop calling after 30 days, but you must give them another way to contact you. Like a free email account you do not use for anything else.

This is Portfolio Recovery, a debt collector. of old debts, real old, most are out of the date they can collect. If they call you ask them for a state License in the state you live. If they can't produce one, tell them you can't deal with them  because they aren't licensed in your state. They can't take you to court if its that old, if they aren't licensed, well they just can't collect from you, file a complaint with the state,
there are real problems for them trying to collect from you without a license. Just hang up on them.
I do want every one to understand this is not legal advise in any way.I'm not an attorney.
Talk to your attorney, you can sue them for many things if they violate the collection laws..

I've been getting calls from Portfolio for a year. Now up to 6 times a day.Knowing they aren't looking for me, I called.
They we're very nice and will be taking my name off their call list.
Some who know they have no issues might just want to make a simple phone call back to them and see how it works out for you.
I called the 866 number listed in "Friends" post back on page 1

Good luck,

These people "Portfolio Recovery" call me several times a day and for several YEARS now.  I have explained that I am NOT who they want, I am NOT the person they are asking for, I do NOT owe any bills to anybody.  They don't believe me.  I quit answering, they still call.
I have actually called the number and you get a recording with no information other than "please stay on the line, your call is important to us"..... LOL

Someone called my house minutes ago, asking for me with my maiden name. I've been married for 10 years! I didn't know who it was so I hung up and googled the number and the name "Portfolio Recovery" which was on my caller ID. I have no idea why a debt collector is trying to get me with my maiden name - even if I owed someone money from that time period (which I don't) the statute of limitations is long over. Extremely strange. I hope my ID's not getting stolen.
