Got a call from Portfolio Recovery even though my number is on a (DO NOT CALL) list. They mentioned about a debt from 2001 that isn't mine.They tried to get me to acknowledge Social Security number over the phone. I thought you are not to get calls if you're on a "Do Not Call" list?

Another new number (to my phone, anyway) from Portfolio Recovery.

These bottom feeders must have called my unlisted FAX machine 100 times in the past year from at least a dozen area codes.  I suspect they are using "ghost" numbers - maintaining offices in so many different locations does not seem like a sensible business plan.

This third- or fourth-party "collection" agency is not calling on behalf of any actual lending organization.  DO NOT ANSWER!  DO NOT BE THEIR VICTIM!

This number kept calling and harassing us and looking for a person who doesn't even live in this house.

PRC doesnt feel they are constrained by any law or statute of limitations. Theyre chasing a debt from 2003

This company, shown as both Portfolio Recovery and just Bells, Tennessee,  has been calling our number for many, many years.  They are very nasty and demand your credit card number.  I ignore the calls, but it is very annoying as the calls can start as early as eight o'clock in the morning and as late as ten o'clock at night.  I wish they would leave us alone.  We are not behind in any bills, so they have no right to be calling us.

Just started to receive phone calls from this number in the past 2 days on my corporate cell phone. They leave no message. If they were indeed debt collectors why are they not calling my home phone or personal cell phone? Its got to be scammers.

I don't answer any calls from a number I don't know.  If they need me they will leave a message.  That is the best way to get
of these guys.

One of the many many numbers that portfolio recovery has...I just keep adding them to my auto reject list.....these guys are hard core collectors.

This is Portfolio Recovery - they are fake debt scammers! I paid my debt to the credit card company, then got a call from these bottom feeders saying the debt wasn't paid. Scared, I made payment arrangements with them...PAID THEM OFF as well. Case Closed. Now they are calling AGAIN..calling my work and home and cell phone saying that this debt is ONCE AGAIN UNPAID!!!! from 1994!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These jerks are unbelievable. DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE AT ALL.

Never actually talked to these clowns, but as others have stated, Portfoilo Recovery runs some sort of scam phishing for info under the guise of being a debt collector.  Suffice to say the only debt I have is a monthy credit card balance, and rather doubt this company would be calling me about that.  They never leave a message, and have various different numbers they call from.  

please please report them to the Federal Trade Commission. Their tactics are illegal

Just got a call from Bells, TN, area code 713-345-4195.  The women started "This is Sarah Wiles and this is a recorded line, is this ________.  I responded "I don't know anyone from Tennessee and I don't know you and I don't talk to people who announce that the call is recorded...so go F--- yourself and hung up.

Got a call from this number.  I didn't answer and no message was left.  Caller ID said Portfolio Recovery.  I don't answer calls from names and numbers I don't know.   Another number I got a call from is 205-396-3619.  I see from other reports that they use quite a few different phone numbers.

my granddaughter left her phone at my house.  When it rang it was this number.  Looked up to see who it was and guess what, Portfolio Recovery.  She is only 10 years old.

we have received so called different so called debts we owe. one was supposedly for $5 from a video store that went bankrupt more than 8 years ago. Tonight they called for my husband when i asked who it was they claimed to be the House of Loyds the number said Bells, Tn 731-345-4195. I searched there is no House of Loyds in Bells, Tn. The number is a landline in Bells, Tn. They called at 7:30pm

Why these folks keep calling using different area codes ect. is beyond me!!  WE DO NOT ANSWER IF WE DO NOT KNOW AREA CODE/OR PHONE NUMBER!!  If it is someone trying to contact us we want to hear from they will leave message...duh!!!  No need for debt collectors to call us as we are on Soc. Sec. and just trying to live on what we have now....

Try telling Portfolio folks they called the wrong number and then they call back 3-4 times a day. I never heard of the person they are looking for...damn these bill collectors. They best hope they stay hidden making their phone calls 7 days a week from 7am until after 10pm at night... I haven't bought anything on credit in the past 17 yrs and all my bills are paid on time so I know these lower forms of life aren't looking for me!  If Obama gets his civil war started lets all get together and hunt up some unsavory debt collectors and hang them from the nearest tree..to hell with this racial stuff I am fed up with these people!

As usual, another portfolio recovery number.  This time, it said "Bells" on the name on caller ID.  Is that an attempt to make you think it is "Beall's" the department store?  lol nice try fools.

You are right. they have used at least 16 different numbers and states calling me for a bill. but i also have the people i owe calling me for that same bill that i have made arrangements with. so they have to be scammers. the first thing they asked me for was my ssn. when i wouldn't give it to them they said it was for this particular  bill and said they needed to verify that it was me with ssn. i refused again and they hung up...

Using many numbers from different parts of the land to call & leave no message. Look-up these numbers and all are Portfolio #'s.Their calling tactics are simplistic and childish ! Should be reported to the government. They call all day but we do not respond.

I got a call from them. They didn't say what they wanted but asked for me and when they wouldn't tell me what they wanted my mother got on the phone and then they hung up. It's a scam. They also called at 8:30 pm! GRRR!

yesterday they call my house from Arizona and woke up the whole family - it was 10:00 pm
