Received a voicemail from this number on my cell phone, stating that my Wells Fargo card had been declined or locked or some such. But I don't have a Wells Fargo card, and I'm sure it was a scam. Creepy, and I'd like to know how they got my number.

I just spoke with someone at the Heakin, and I feel terrible for them. Some how their number was associated with this scam without them knowing and now it looks like they have to change their number because of the damage it has done to their company. They are in no way affiliated with the scam at all and are trying to handle the situation.
Please do not call the 732-326-9779 number as it is the number of this Heakin Research company (which looks like a legitimate market research company) as it won't do any good since they are just as annoyed and confused as all of you.
Once again, Heakin is not responsible for these calls, imagine if your cell phone number was hacked and used to call thousands of people...you would have to deal with the thousands of calls they are dealing with now because of this.
| Hi 2011-10-03 15:20:48 Unknown |
It's not Heakin...they had their number stolen and someone is somehow using it as their caller ID number to scam people! call your phone company and see what they can do to find out who this really is.
| Heakin Research 2011-10-03 15:13:09 Unknown |
ATTENTION! THIS IS A FISHING SCAM! Heakin research is not the one calling people. Some one is using this number so it showes up on Caller ID's but it is not this company making the calls to you.
Apparently the automated message is in relation to a Wells Fargo Account (in most cases) and it asks you to Press the number 1...once you do it allows these people to steal some information from you.
Do not bother to call the number on your caller ID back. Someone is using Heakin's phone number as the caller ID but it's not them making these automated calls. I repeat...it is not Heakin calling you! Do not bother to call 732-326-9779. Call your phone company instead and report the scam and ask them to do a trace on the line that called to get the real number.
I called and spoke with someone at Heakin. This poor company is probably going to have to change their phone number because of this, a number they have had for over 20 years. Since this scam started they have had over 5000 calls from people who got calls between 10pm and 4am in the morning!! They are not able to even conduct business because the calls keep coming in!
As an FYI...this scam company also has e-mails going out to everyone with a virus! If you click on the link regarding "a Wells Fargo Account" your computer and your [personal information gets hacked!
Please watch out and spread the word to everyone you know!
Thanks!

Yeah, got a call from them last night at 3:20 a.m. - WTF? I will call them back and tell them they are not allowed to call me... which probably won't work. OH - I think I can go on Verizon's website and block them from my phone.

Getting this call in the middle of the night to let me know that my Wells Fargo account has been locked. Funny I don't have a Wells Fargo account. I Did NOT press any buttons or answer any questions. I figured it was a SCAM.
