The legitimate ones do an annual mass-mailing by sending donation envelopes through the mail.

They do NOT cold-call people on the phone asking for a donation or for credit-card information.

Blow a loud whistle into the phone if they don't stop after you ask them to stop calling.

These calls are not from a particular FOP Lodge. They are from a company that solicits on behalf of a individual FOP Lodge. Those calling are not police officers but rather work for the company doing the soliciting. The State Lodge of the FOP does not do telephonic solicitations. They did at one time but no longer participate in it.

First of all, let me clarify what YOU said.  That the monmouth county police keep ringing you for money and that they are rude "a****oles".  First of all, it is not the monmouth county police that keep calling you, those who are calling you are scammers ....who keep calling you.  Second of all, the monmouth county police are not "a****oles", as you said.  And, if that is not what you meant, than PLEASE, get a better command of the english language BEFORE you post again.  Just for the record, I am in no way affiliated with the police nor do I have any relatives affiliated with them.  I am just a concerned citizen who does not like an illiterate fool posting untrue and nasty remarks about our men and women in blue, who protect your stupid "a****" every day.  I, for one am very grateful for the work that the police do and I have the ultimate respect for them.  So Renae,  the next time that you are in trouble or need the help of a police officer, why don't you call one of your own family or friends to help you out and don't put another police officer in harms way protecting your stupid, uneducated, illiterate a**!

Well Pete the reason I can't tell them I am or am not interested is because the two times I did answer and said "Hello", they hung up on me with a very loud resounding click.  Here is a list of dates and times they have called me.  9\26 5:48p  10\1 5:14p   10\6 2:26p     10\8 7:35p.  This is getting to be more then annoying verging on harrassment.  I suspect that I am not the only one feeling harrassed since there is a webpage devoted to the calls they have been making.  What recourse do I, or anyone for that matter, have to make them stop calling?

I am a single woman who lives alone.  How do I know its really the police?  How do I know its not someone who is casing my house for a time when I'm not home so they can break in?  I do think your right about one thing Pete, they are gonna call back.  As a matter of fact I just as I was finishing up this letter I got another call from them 10\8 8:57p.

What I find funny is why people just don't answer the phone and say they aren't interested. That's what I do with most phone calls like that unless i'm familiar with the group that is calling. Why would you just not answer? They're just gonna call back lol

Honestly John i wouldn't give my credit card over the phone either. I have given to this group myself before and have always received an envelope in the mail and mailed in a check. I'm fairly sure they still do send an envelope if you request it

You do realize the do not call list doesn't apply to charities, insurance companies and political groups? I mean when you sign up for it there is a disclaimer that informs you to that fact if you bothered to read it. It is amazing to me how much people in this country just don't know lol. The funny thing is what people really should be worried about talking about scams is what the Federal Reserve is doing every day. People wanna talk about local groups who are trying to raise funds and yet no one wants to talk about the 900 lb elephant in the room lol

It is a legitimate organization that has been around for more than 30 years. The way you can always tell is if they have a federal tax ID # and a charities registration #. If they can provide you with that information then it is a legitimate fundraising effort.

Furthermore, why would they send you something in the mail if aren't willing to mail something back? That would be fairly stupid on their part now wouldn't it.

Another idiot. The reason county lodges call people is because it would cost a ridiculous amount of money to mail everyone in monmouth county an envelope. Especially in the current economic climate it would be a fund loser not fund raiser lol. In my experience they ask if you can help and if you can they send you an envelope that is a comfortable amount for you.

Wrong lodge idiot. Monmouth County has 3 lodges. Lodge 30, 73 and 121. Only Lodge 30 and 121 are for the Sheriffs office. Lodge 30 is also the mother lodge being it is the oldest and their website clearly indicates that they do call you on the phone. Know what you are talking about before you post false crap

John - Do not ever give your credit card and security code over the phone!!!  Ask them to follow up the request via mail if you think you are interested in donating to the specific organization/fundraiser. I have been solicited many times over the past years and upon my request for documentation , have as yet to receive by mail any!!  They ask you to ledge an amount etc., etc., etc., SCAM!!!

As soon as they ask me all the information on my credit card including 3 digits security code, I become alerted because I cannot identify who-is-who on the phone. I just hang up the phone to protect myself. Possibly scam! I will keep my eyes on my credit card since I exposed my number.

I am so tired of receiving these phone solicitations from the Fraternal Order of Police. They call at all hours of the day, any day of the week, and I wish they would stop. I'm barely making ends meet and I don't intend to donate money to this organization. Is there a way I can get them to stop calling?

I picked up a call from 732-637-9172, they asked for me by name, but would not say what it was about, and then they hung up.  I called 732-637-9172 back, and got a voicemail they were from Monmouth County FOP Lodge 30, which has a web site with contact information for their officers

Ditto. I got a call from this number which left no message. So I called back and the voice response indeed said it was "Monmouth County Fraternal Order of Police". So I went to the real Fraternal Order website -- which clearly states that they do not solicit by phone -- and sent a message telling them about the event and gave them the phone number.

Called left no message, when you get a call and they don't leave a message someone is just trying to solicit money.
