THIS NOT A SCAM. This is WESTERN UNION. If your name appears on THERE WATCH LIST for FRAUD, they will place any funds transferred on HOLD until you they reach you to verify that YOU posted the transaction. They will require verification information from you, even if you have a WESTERN UNION account. This is WESTERN UNION's fraud prevention procedures.

My conclusion: This number is LEGIT and NOT a scam.  More details below.

I had sent a money transfer via Western Union online and received a call about 30 mins later from 732-694-2151 asking following questions:
1. My name
2. Recipient's name
3. last 4 of bank account
4. my birthday
5. sender address
6. If I know recipient face-to-face
7. Have I ever sent that receiver money before
8. What is the purpose of money transfer

It seemed a little suspicious, so I called the Western Union 800 number to verify.  After about 30 mins of holds and transfers (the initial representative had no idea), they confirmed that the number was a legitimate Western Union number and asked the proper questions for verification purposes.

But you don't have to take my word for it, just call Western Union and ask their fraud alert department to verify.

Why is Western Union calling me at 10:00pm on a work/school night?????  What the heck do they want?

It's a scam, it is not Western Union.  They tried to tell me I sent money from a credit card I don't even have and never did and tried to verify an address for a Florida PO Box.  I have never  even BEEN to Florida. He then went on to say that someone is using my info and I should get it taken care of.  I was like yeah thanks, good bye.

This person knew my full name, address and birthday without me even saying them. Somehow, he was able to get inside information from Western Union. He said I had to send documents to wukyc@westernunion.com for proof of how I spend my money like rent contract, phone bill, etc (so ridiculous). He said I have to send those documents in two weeks so that I won't get interrupted in using their services. Good thing I told him I don't have a bank account when he asked me. He said his name was Alfred, ID# 042 and also gave me my case number then gave me Western Union "hotline" 1-800-773-7948 to verify if it was true or not. The next day, I did my research, went to Western Union website and called their Consumer Protection hotline.Sure enough, it was all baloney. Please don't be a victim of these desperate people.

Called me today did not answer as I didn't recognize the #. No message, checked here for info and I NECER EVER EVER use Western Union. Looks like it is a scam and they even have posters to try and get people to fall for it. No way freaks! Get a real job!

Something is definitely fishy with this number. I had 2 western union agents confirm that this number is associated with Western Union. One agent confirmed that this is not associated with Western Union. The phone number called my house phone which I did not give them. I only realized this after the phone call, which is why I was suspicious. The caller asked me to confirm details about my money sending request. The fraud agent told me that I should not worry, but I honestly don't trust the company. Be very wary of this number,

He worked the craigslist circuit too. Which is better than forming a longterm relationship with someone other than the woman who bore him two children. I wonder if he ever came across Melissa's craigslist ad. That would be funny.

I received call from same number which I did not answer as it was listed as unknown. I then checked the web and found this blog so I called same number back. It was a message recording from Western Union stating that all the operator were busy but If I received a call from this number that to call the number left on the answering machine. The message then said that if you do not call the number left on the answering machine, and it is important, that they would call back.

I did send some monies only 2 hours before and it was to go oversea, Poland, so maybe that was the problem. I did check my registered email name with them and their was a email declining this transfer so I would say it is a legit number.

this # is not from western union..I called it and goes nowhere

I got a call from this # last night saying it was from a tech support person from Microsoft..telling me the service plan I has bought last was giving me a refund  which turned out to be a scam and he tried to take 459.00 out of my checking acct. I didn't get his name which was stupid of me..I would like to know who has this number before he takes money from other old women like me..I know I am the dumb one for giving him my cc #..which has since been cancelled

Legit call from Western Union advising me the money I sent was ready for pickup by the other party.

This number may be an actual Western Union phone number, but keep in mind, it probably doesn't take much for a hacker to make it look like this number is calling you when it actual is coming from someone else.  (part of the scam)  They will also give you the actual "customer complaint" number through Western Union.  Go ahead and verify their number on the internet and call.  I will guarantee Western Union will tell you its a scam.  No rep should ever contact by phone according to WU.  I have been called over 20 times and I just let it go to voicemail.  Same voicemail everytime.  Don't waste your time chewing them out...tried that and it didn't stop.  They do a good job of making this look legitimate.  They just keep fishing for more information...day after day.  If the damn government would get their $hit together, I would take this to the FCC...but they are closed until further notice.  

Caller named Katherine said she was with Western Union and was investigating possible fraud. Asked if I had had problems with unauthorized transactions on my checking account. Said this transaction was over $2,000.00 about July 23rd. I told her that my bank knows better and would advise me immediately if such a transaction came through.

place in PA gave me number to call 1-877-984=0473 to transfer money to my sister after I called and gave name and address they had me go to a western union with an ID number when I got there they had no idea what I had to call this number for. When I called this number back they wanted me to give more info which I did not. when I called western union fraud department they where not much help and did not seem to care.

He needed to better understand what the money was used for, if I knew my supplier on a personal level, and for additional info to verify the transaction was actually from MY account and to verify my business

I called Western Union's fraud department and the number  732-694-2151 is legit. She was able to pull up info stating that they just called me. It just seemed weird because it wasn't a 1800 number. I guess Western Union is old and antiquated....

no message left but got call number showed up on VM  didn't call back considering I didn't know the number

Western union called and said a online request was made to change my western union account.

Recieved  two calls from this phone#, never answered.

Excuse my language. This total son of a bi*** called to put money in the damn prepaid card. My mom tried helping this person since she thought it was a Western Union Agent trying to help her with the god damn update. Turned out this person was a f****ng fraud.

Just got this creepy call from a woman with a filipino accent saying I made a transaction of $1,300.00 and my bank cancelled the transaction(caller id read Western Union). What's so wierd about it is that I told her I never sent out money and why are they calling my parents phone? I started asking her so many questions that she said to me she can't provide me information because is confidential. I cursed her out and she hung up on me. I called the real Western Union Agent at the complaint department and she said, IT IS A SCAM! All beware!

I rec'd call from woamn saying she was asst. mger of Pep Boys in MO. She was callin g on behalf of another person who goes by name of Karan Brayton -- who claims yo live in Atlanta GA.

leave this preditor off your list, if you continue to try and scams me, it will costs you with your freedom.
