the person said their name was karina. they said they were from verizon and then asked for my dad. they said it was regarding a study group...which makes NO sense....then i hung up...that was freaky

Its a marketing and research business, they are probably gathering generic information, statistical B.S. and whatnot.  I wouldn't be too concerned, and I wouldn't waste my time with them either.  I did not answer because I did not know the number but the message was from a female who told me they were not trying to sell stuff but conduct research on marketing information; requested I call back which I won't, hence the not wasting my time.

that is a legitimate phone call from  Shlesinger Associates, they do research and paid market studies.

Schlesinger is legitimate - they are a market researcy firm in edison NJ.
I know they do a lot of medical market research for drug companies, I don't know what else
They are well established and respectable.
