i recieved a call from this number at 1am sux being woke up to bs.I didnt answer but tried to call back at decent hour and get busy signal.

This is an answering service. Clients call this number to put in a request with your company. These people will then call you (or anyone on your list) to relay the message to you.

We use this for after hours support. Our clients would call this number and give them a description of an issue they were having along with their contact information. The company would then call me and the other people on the contact list to inform us that the client is having an issue.

Actually I work for this company.  It is an answering service called MAP Communications.  What is happening is that we are trying to reach our clients to deliver a message.  Based upon account type determines if we leave a message.  For instance, according to HIPPA laws we are not to leave a message for calls of a medical nature.  The reason we have the caller id set to go back to a line that rings busy is because we make a thousand calls a day to our clients.  If our clients call back on that line saying "Someone called me from this number" it would cause mass confusion.  We tell our clients that if they get a call from that number to call in using their toll free number (this pulls up their account and and allows easy access to their personal messages.)  Now if you don't have an answering service, misdials happen.  Let me apologize on behalf of MAP now of any inconvience this might have caused you.  (We do make this calls at all hours.)  If we continue to call your number then we probably have a bad number programed into our system.  If you answer and advise the receptionist that they have a wrong number, we can remove it from our system, stopping the calls to you and contact the company for the correct number.  It's a win, win for both of us.  If you work for MAP, then we are busy and need you to come in for a few hours ;)  I hope this helps you all!

This is a masked number. It is possibly/probably used by a debt collection agency. They set up the call to appear to be coming from a number from a legitimate business, but they are simply attempting to get through and make contact with you so they can pester you about a debt. If you get one of these calls don't answer, but it may be an indication that you need to take advantage of a free online credit report to find out if there are issues you may not have previously been aware.

Thus number has been calling my home number for a few days and now is calling my cell phone too. I called back and it went to fast busy sound. They never leave a message.

its a job for a call center in va beach, i applied, and got a call back from this number, so its not a scam but its crazy that they dont leave messages if you dont answer.

this number keeps calling my cell phone and never answers nor leaves a voice mail and if i try to call it back it goes straight to busy

Got a call from this number.  Caller ID said "Virginia".  Didn't answer it.  They left a recorded message telling me I had a message from someone about a Craigslist ad and left a number to call to get the message.  I don't have a Craigslist ad.  Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

"This is Jessie from your service, we have a message for you, please call 800-285-9660 to get your message"
Did not return call - don't have a messaging service.

Got a call from the same number today. It rang once on my phone and hung up.  I didn't call it back.

Called at work.  NORFOLK in the Caller Idea.  i didn't answer, becasue I was like Who the F is that!

They left a message as a "service" calling for soemone I never heard of, from a Dr. so and so that I never heard of and I was to call back to a 212 area code.

Sounds scammy.  I'd beware of this one.

I got this number today. Looked unfamiliar to me, and I started doing a search for it (which brought me to this page). But when my boss called a few minutes later, I realized it was a legit answering service number.

It is some kind of business service hotline, I work in private air charter and this number called me and connected me with a client.

Received phone calls from 757-278-0598. No message left and when I tried to phone back it rang a couple of times and then went to a busy signal. This number called both my work and private cell number.

I just got a call from this one too, I googled the number to see who it was and found this page. Pretty neat idea to report stupid calls so others know who they are. Nice idea. It also went busy when I called it back too. I wonder how many numbers like this take up phone time each year for nothing, just think of the costs and waste of time.

I just started to get these calls this afternoon.  I would pickup and no one would answer,  If I don't pick up they wont leave a message.  I called it back it rings twice then busy

278got a call from this number, at first didnt call it back because of the area code, but turns out it is an emergency pager service.  if you work for a company that has after hours emergency on call , they are the answering service.  would make more sense of them using the 800 number on caller id when they call instead of a Norfolk area code.
