background: my mother is 60 years old, single and has no debt, owns everything she has outright, but holds a very low paying job that just covers her monthly expenses barely if at all.. they picked the wrong relative to try to get to her through.. read on.. :)

This Person Tracy Burman contacted me at my home regarding my mother, who does not share the same last name as me or my husband. She left a message stating she had a " very serious situation here she did not believe she was aware of, that it was very important she speak to her right away".
When I called them back I received different stories from each person I spoke to, "Michelle" advised me that they use a method called skip tracing to locate relatives as part of their "investigation"..
Then there was "Mr. Miller", who advised me that my mother placed my and my husbands name down as a contact when they were unable to contact her directly they contacted us...
Said both my and my husband's name to try and prove it, asked "how would I know that unless she told us".. I advised him that was very keen of him to notice his caller ID and she would have done no such thing, Specifically based on the conversation that follows, Note - I've only been married a year, total time with him is 3 years (read on it get's better). I Then I asked him what address he sent his "notices" to her to, and he repeated an address over 7 years old for her..
SHE DOESN'T LIVE THERE ANYMORE STUPID! HASN'T FOR YEARS GENIOUS!
IF THEY'RE SO SAVVY AS TO FIND ME AND MY HUSBAND BUT CANNOT MAIL OUT TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS OF MY MOTHER, WHOM THEY SAY THEY'RE LOOKING FOR.. ?!?!?!
Though I might admit, I had fun digging in on them, he did confess they are attempting to resolve a financial matter, and threatened to report the information to the "I.R.S." and send her a 1099-C form.. (google it, it's a debt write off form for creditors)..
my response was good luck, you still don't have the right address!
He then warned not to call them again..
funny, wasn't so fun for them to be on the wrong side of the fence..
I also filed a complaint on the "Do Not Call List".. not sure if that will do anything, but I'll take it as far as I can, I'll find other's to report this behavior to and I will find a way to shut this down..

Tracy contacted me stating she was going to file charges on me for an 8 year debt that was a charge off. She gave me one hour to reply. She accidently gave me her personal cell number befor correcting and giving me her businees line.

i tried calling that number, just to see what was up. you know, curiosity...anyway its disconnected now. i had gotten a call from her too a few days ago and wasnt going to call back. but the woman who answered the phone was nice and polite to me. she answered my questions and this was something i owed, i knew it was on my credit. i went ahead and paid it, got my letter. and im good with it. guess you must have pissed her off or something.

Received a voicemail from this company, Consumer Recovery Associates, on his CELL phone saying there was an IMPORTANT matter he MUST take care of Immediately ! My husband called back and after a conversation with some receptionist, which by the way dogged every question he had, eventually transferred him to, Tracy Wells (Obviously a favorite among all of the complaints.)
She informed him of a debt we are familiar with, although is well over eleven years old, and told him she was authorized to offer him a settlement amount. He did not have the credit card information with him at the time, so told them, I would call them back. I give them a call and speak to an unknown male who told me HE spoke with my husband and offered him a different settlement amount than what we were told.
When I told him that is not the amount I was given, he stumbled over his words and asked if he could put me on hold while he refers to the notes his employee left…referring to another male…my husband spoke with a female. Then proceeded to come back on the line and say “Well, if that’s what HE offered you then that’s what I would go with too”. OK, first of all…huh? I have never known a company to be so disorganized while trying to collect a debt. I demanded to speak to Tracy again, and he could not comply. He said he would have HIM call me back as soon he got off of a call. Immediately I receive a call from Tracy Wells again demanding I give her my bank account information to “clear up this debt”. I told her that I would need something in written documentation before handing over my information.
I was refused this request, and told that she could not generate this document until I gave her my information. I would not give her my information so she threatens me with the IRS and a 1099c form and tells me our wages will be garnished. I told them I would call my attorney and speak with him about it. I was informed NOT to call my attorney because this was NOT a legal matter! As soon as they brought up the IRS it became a legal matter! I ended up calling my CPA and my attorney and both informed me there’s nothing they can do, the IRS does not care about your debt, and they also informed me that if they send a 1099c form, not to worry about that either.
I called back and spoke with original nameless male #1, and informed him of my knowledge, and also told him that the statute of limitations was long since past on this debt, and what they were doing is illigal, and let him know that I would be filing a complaint with the Federal Trades Commission and the phone calls need to stop. He became very angry, telling me my Attorney and CPA did not know anything, and they were idiots. LOL!! He then just hung up on me as I gave him a dose of his own medicine!
Doesn’t feel good to be on the other end of THAT conversation I guess.

Thanks! I had a call that went to voice mail from a cratchety old hag. Dunno who she is or what she wanted but the message was the typical crank call that I "must call back!". I always enjoy that. If it is important you can come by the house to see me. I don't take calls on my personal phone from people I don't need to talk to. My advice is to ignore the call.

She left a voice mail in an urgent tone of voice, saying this person who shares my last name had an EXTREMELY URGENT situation and NEEDED to call back TODAY. I wonder how Mrs Berman would feel if she started receiving annoying phone calls because some random person named Berman owes money.

Mrs. Whatshername from CRA called from 757-392-1660 and left a message telling me that I was not aware of the serious nature of the situation I was in. I should call her back at 1-877-219-4760 immediately.

I received a message from a "Tracy Berman" (last name spelling??) also and she was looking for my ex-wife who I divorced over 15 years ago! I have not even talked to my ex- in over 5 years and have no clue as to her whereabouts. For some reason they are apparently trying to find her. I just assume it's probably a collector. I'm not calling back.

I just got the same exact call!! Except it was for a family member that used to live here (he is dead now) or another one with same name that lives out of state. anyway, this chick said it was a very very serious matter and 'he' must call back immediately. she left a 866 number to call her back at. I was confused at why the number she called on was the 757. Anyway, they are a crock. I wish they'd get a real job.

Got a phone call from this number and they left a message but never said who they were or what was the call about. They just said it was an important matter that needed to be taken care of immediately.
