How about I paid the amounts off, then get a call from an investigator informing me that I have a warrent for my arrest for a bad check. A check that has been paid since May 7th, it's the 11th of July. Over 2 months after I had paid the debt, they have a warrent pulled for me. Then when I call them want to give me a load of crap about how it took so long for me to pay. How the hell are you going to take out a warrrent for something that is already paid.

I bounced a check back in September 2011. Paid it off though along with a $67 fee, which was extremely high. This guy from Ogden kept sending letters & calling saying I owed money. I believed him at first & was going to work something out to pay him until he told me that i HAD to pay $200 by the end of the month. I have dealt with collection agencies in the past & I knew that they work with you & do not demand a large amount in such a small window of time. He was also rude & loud, so I hung up on him & ignored the rest of his calls. He stopped calling for about 4 months and just recently started calling again, which I also found rather odd. Then today he TEXTED me from his personal cell phone saying a warrant was pending against me and I owed $272, without identifying himself. When I asked who it was, all I got back was "Investigator Richards"...what kind of title is that? Now I don't know much, but I know that collection agencies don't send out warrants or text you. Glad I went with my gut & researched this instead of calling him back.

I wish I would have done a little internet search before paying them.  I received a letter from them stating that I had this outstanding debt, trying to do the right thing, I paid it but the calls have not stopped.  I received another letter in the mail yesterday stating that I owe even more money.  Well of course my daily 8am call came but this time I answered it and waited for a live body to come on the line....WOW!!  I had not answered any of the calls after the first one I took with the man that has been described very well in some of the above postings....this time it was a different man.  Wow, he had the nerve to call me "un-educated"!!!  All that money I spent at Carolina for my education just to be described as "un-educated" by the most inarticulate person, again, wow!!!  I tried to explain that I paid what the letter said I owed and he says "well now you owe this". So now I'm going to block all of their calls and contact the Virginia Commonwealth.

Terrible company I just got off the phone with both "Investigators" I wasn't aware of this debt that I had. I spoke with a Investigator Gary a unprofessional and nasty black guy. I asked him to verify exactly what the call was about he immediately got loud and when I asked to speak to a supervisor he hung up the phone he threatened to take a warrant against me and also midlead the phone call as if he worked for a Law Enforcement.

I found an attorney on the internet who specializes in debt collection law and after explaining my Ogden experiences to his office, I was told that Ogden has violated about 4 of the fair debt collection laws.
1. did not advise me of my right to dispute debt
2. left messages on my answering machine when the phone service belongs to my son
3. does not identify the company name in messages
4. was never notified to appear in court (for what resulted in a warrant in debt)
The hearing took place in Nov. 2002. I never knew about the warrant until Ogden started harassing me about two months ago. I looked at court records because I thought it was a scam. Ogden can be fined up to $1000 for each violation. I can't afford a lawyer but this guy works pro-bono.
Anyway, I hope none of you send Ogden a dime. They're counting on their scare tactics to get results. Don't give in!

I thought I was the only one!  Almost everything reported in the previous postings has happened to me.  The check they claim I wrote was over a year old.  My credit union also told me not to pay it because they had no record the check had been returned, and I have overdraft protection anyway and they would have paid the check.  I talked to 2 different deep voiced "ghetto" sounding black men, both of whom were extremely rude and nasty, talked over the top of me, wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise, and tried to make me feel horrible.  They also threatened arrest, criminal action, etc.  I called the Commonwealth Attorney's Office where I live and spoke with them, and they told me that these people did not have the right to use those tactics or to speak to me that way, and that I should report them to the Federal Trade Commission (they regulate collection agencies).  So I am in the process of doing that.  Now "Warner Richards" is calling my office and asking for my boss!  He knows what's going on anyway, but the privacy act forbids them from talking to him about it.  You BET I'm going to report him.  (Thanks for letting me vent!)

Richard Warner seemed to have strange sounding voice.  His tone was very condescending in his message.  He said he wanted to meet up with me in person?  I think he might be a little funny so I am not going to meet with him. I don't owe him or his company anything.  Wish they would stop calling me.

These people are so cocky and self assured. I'm not going to roll over and play dead. Expect an intense legal battle.

I also received a call from this Ghetto company! I have also gotten 5 letters threatening court action. They said I bounced a check from 2005 it is now 2011 and the amount of the check was for 47.55 and they say I owe 238.59 for fees and other associated costs....I will be contacting the sheriffs office and my bank which is a credit union said do not pay!!!!!!

I also experienced the same thing today and from aanother company in the past.  It turns out that Gerald, the deep voice black man who sounds ghetto, also contacted me in past for another company called Maximum Recovery Solutions. Please google this because he is an excon, using illegal tactics to get money.  The same guy who somehow now also works at ogden company, threatened to send the cops to my house. I called the police to see if they had a warrant and was lying about everything. There were no lawyers working for the company either. I actually found out recently that after 3 to 5 years depending on the debt, it in not within the statue of limitations, which means it can,t go on your credit report and the debt is considered uncollectable.

I received a letter from them this week indicating I had a bounced check with the amount and fees attached. I called the office to confirm and then they stated I had two additional checks that had not been paid. A Warner Richards told me I owed 492 but I could pay like 344. So I set something up and by giving them my credit card number and after I thought about it I said hold up, something is not right. I only received a letter for one check not three! What are they talking about. I am going to call chesterfield county, richmond, and VB courts to ask if they have done this before. They mail me a letter saying this is the third attempt and it is my first letter! I am glad I searched the company

I too received a notice in the mail from this company alleging that I owe them money on something that I did not do.  Spoke to an Investigator Richards who threatned that if I didn't report to their office by 4pm today I would be arrested and a warrant would be taken out for my arrest for something that I didn't even do.  I later received a call from an Investigator Gary Smith, I just ignored the call.  I also filed a complaint with FTC regarding this company.  They are rude and very nasty!! Investigator Richards also hung up on me as well.  I feel if I had a valid debt they would still not work with me. They scare you and tell you either you pay or u go to jail!!!  This is not right and not fair and these people need to be reported.

I get a call from this number once a day. everyday at around noon!! It comes up as a recording and says its important business matter for some lady. I am not a lady lol just an innocent dude getting called everyday from this messed up company. They don't even give me the option to tell them they got the wrong number. Its total BS!! I shouldnt be wasting the little airtime I have everyone month on them. IDK what to do.... I just never answer anymore!

They are doing the same to me over a check they claim I bounced to a company that is closed. The amount was $20.00. It is insane. They have called me names and yelled at me and my husband. I can't believe they are in business!

I agree!! They call me everyday claimiNg I wrote a check over 3 years ago that bounced to a company that is out of business now. VERY RUDE! I refuse to pay. They have threatened to take me to court for over a year now and still have not. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE!!

I recieved a warrant in debt to appear in court on December 16, 2008 and
Chesterfield County Court had no record of such a case. This company has
been threatening me along with Odgden Check Approval Network, Inc. that if
I do not pay, which I paid a good amount of it, that they will get me when
I show for court. Well, the date came and I recieved another letter in the
mail, which was dated December 10th that my date had been moved to
february 16, 2009 at 1:00pm. Again the county has no record of such an
event. They are using county warrant in debt forms and mailing them and
representing them as being a valid and approved case when they are in fact
not. In other words they are using the forms as scare tactics which is
illegal. Hindsight I never had a sherriff visit my house I just got the
warrant in debt from the lawyers office and Odgden Check approval.
Something needs to be done about this .

This is a continuation of my earlier complaint about them abusing Warrant in debt forms from Chesterfield county general district court. They have been using these forms and leaving voicemails about a court date that they are set and are going to happen which in fact they are not. They have never been recorded with the courts. I then recieved a letter form them stating that my court date HAS changed to February 17, 2009 which in fact has not and can't because Chesterfield County General district court requires 60 days out for such an event to occur and they are to late to file with the court. They are using these documents to scare people illegally. I have paid them a substantial amount of money and they want more. I am not the only one that they are doing this to. They have done this to about 15-20 cases which you can call and confirm if you call 804-768-7939 and talk to Linda Moore of the General District Court. This attorneys' office along with the collection company has to have violated some sort of code.

CONTACT THE STATE BOARD, BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, VIRGINIA BEACH OFFICE OF THE COMMONWEALTHS ATTORNEY OFFICE TO COMPLAIN. WHAT THEY DID WAS ILLEGAL.

This company is WACKO!!! They call you and threaten you with legal action on issues that don't even exist!!!! Horrible service agents that speak to you like you are as ghetto as they are!!!!

I would eat dirt before I would associate myself with a trash company like this one!!!!!
