My response to unwanted callers. I simply let it ring until the caller hangs up. I check the number if I want to know where the call was from.  My close relatives have a distinctive ring and I know when they call.
My recorder is my base because it defines who is calling me.  I've noticed a distinctive decrease in calls to my phone in recent weeks since I have ceased answering the phone. Of course I check the call on the answering machine to ensure it is someone I want to talk with.   LHB

I am on the DO  NOT CALL list and have received at least  20 calls from this number.  WHY can't some one do something about these calls they are of no use to anyone.

I have 16 different numbers saved in my phone for Rachel.  I add them to a contact that has no ring and no vibration.  I only see the missed calls.

My complaints are the same as the others shown here.  I tried to call the number back and it rings then then phone goes dead so you cannot talk to anybody.  I also DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and it never stops them from calling.

Ann or Rachele from Account Services is going to lower my credit card interest rate through some stimulus program.  I am amazed at how many times they call.  Is there no way to stop this?   The National Do-Not-Call list is a TOTAL JOKE.  I can't believe the phone company, AT&T in my case, can't do something about this.  I get the same pitch from about a dozen or more different numbers.  If anyone out there has a solution, please let me know.  I started pressing one and making up a fake name and credit card info.  After about a minute they usually catch on.  On lady did talk to me and she had the nerve to tell me I was cruel and wasting her time.  Are you kidding me!  My favorite was when I pretended to be Mitt Romney and told the lady I was unemployed.  I was hoping to get a new job but some guy named Barack beat me out.  She was clueless until I couldn't hold back the laugh.  My solution is for more folks to make up crap and keep them on the phone and waste their time.  I would love to see more creative ideas on how to stop this nonsense.  Obviously our elected officials aren't going to do something about this.

The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like http://www.telephonemanagement.net and http://www.CallerID4U.com
In their own words:  'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'

You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their con then it is just icing on the cake for them.

What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/robocalls
1.    Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2.    Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
3.    Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
4.    Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5.    People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
Register your phone numbers online at http://www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).

There is a blog site that has information on one of these operations:     http://telemarketerspam.wordpress.com
Please read the blog and report violations to the proper authorities.

What good is a do not call list if these people keep getting away with calling anyway.
Please fined them and close them down.

They will not stop calling and I have run out of numbers to block. My phone companies refuse to block all 800, 888, etc numbers. Also they allow you about 14 numbers to block. Total inadequate in todays world,
