It's mid Feb 2011 and it looks like I'm scammed too.  Same email as the one posted here - on craigslist - and now KIM ROGERS - is apparantly sending me a check to buy computer equipement for him/her.  Darn - it was sounding so interesting......
I don't get why he goes to such length to attract people - he did get a lot of info from me - does anyone have anything happen negatively after supplying these people their info???

When it comes to finding a job, many of us have applied hoping the job is legit, so we can't be faulted for trying. Our best bet as much as I hate it is to ignore the crappola headed our way . Notify the cops if you feel it might help but don't blame Craigslist or any other site for this type of pond scum, it must be extremely difficult to police the internet and enough of our privacy and rights have already been taken away from us.

Thanks so much for letting us know. It's not that we are stupid. But by design, the email is suppose to be enticing enough to tempt people to go and reply to it - and this person does a pretty good job of it.

The number of people who are actually stupid enough to fall for a scam like this is amazing.

The same thing happened to me... I did give him my info and because I needed a job I thought this was actually legitimate.  He sent me a Cashier's Check from a bank, which is a well known bank in Canada. I informed him that I received the check and to tell me what I should do next.  He gave me instructions to deposit this check into my checking account, subtract the amount of my "pay", then to wire the remaining amount via Western Union to someone in Atlanta to pay for his art - paintings he had purchased.

I called the branch of the bank where the cashier's check was issued and gave them the check number and they informed me that they had no such checks beginning with those numbers and that it was definitely fraudulent.  I then called the number he provided, which was bogus... then I looked up the address to the person he wanted me to wire the $ to and it was a dirt road in the middle of nowhere!

I was so angry and boy did I give him a reply email with a piece and a 1/2 of my mind!  DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE...especially when they have you wire something to WU.

However, CL is legit at times... I went for a job interview this morning that I applied for and it was real!  I think I may get the job.

I got the same reply when I answered the CL add... I don't know what they will do with my resume info!  But I'll flag it on CL and save it for future tracking should the need arise...

This is my second encounter with this same style scammer.  

I'm really trying to find some extra work to pay my back taxes and hospital bills... such a shame that this type of scam is wasting our time.

I feel like a complete idiot for falling for this. I was leary of it too but man the economy is so bad right now I am just trying to survive and have become a desperate I guess. I gave him my info as well but it was not anything more than I sent to him in my resume as well. Well at least he is seems to be far enough away that I dont need to be real concerned about a stalker (I hope).

His e-mail address is for a company or entity called valley-groups, but the name is office01@valley-groups.com

Well chaulk one up from experience for me. If I cannot schedule and actual interview with an actual person I'll pass.

Plenty is legit. I got this email too. Most of the time I only apply to places where a specific business can be identified so I can research them. If you want to avoid dealing with this kind of thing then you might consider the possibility of being scammed when things pop up with that 'too good to be true' vibe and no documented legitimate company behind it.

The wire is still pending and my bank wont release the money until it is complete. I will keep everone updated.

I received the same e-mail.  I already responded.  I am taking his information e-mails etc. to the police in my area.

I had a feeling about this and decided to check into. Craigs list is also a scam.  How can they let this happen.

I received this same email.  I followed up by tracing the phone number and was directed to this location.  I figured it was a scam and am very grateful to see all the information contained here.  Just as an FYI I have also received another email from an organization offering $850.00 per week for a work from home job as an Administrative Asst.  I am following up on this one now.  The website you are directed to is MCG Investors.com however, the email generates from a mcg.net which if researched is a completely different organization.  Just thought maybe someone else had received this email and could help provide information on it's origin.

I got pretty much the same email... except he is  willing to pay less now ;)  You could tell in the email that it was going to be a scam because he forgot to change some of the dates to applicable dates.

Things like paintings, computer equipment and other things.  He wants you to be the one to receive the packages at your address and send them to him.  He replied to the posting stating he was in London and would be in Germany at the end of July, and that he owned an art gallery in Austria.  THIS IS A SCAM!!! his email was sent from NIGEREIA, LAGOS!!!! THIS IS A SCAM, PLEASE DON"T REPLY WITH ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION, HE'S ASKING FOR NAME, ADDRESS, EMAIL, AND OTHER PERSONAL INFOMRATION LIKE AGE!!!!
