I almost did the same thing-I didn't answer the first time my son called thinking it was a sales call  but thank God he called a second time.He has been gone a week.It means so much  for them to hear our voice and us to hear them.

It's military.  My son is in iraq and that's the number that comes up when he calls

strange call, he left me a voicemail and called me by name.

if this number calls you it is a military personal calling with a military calling card and those are from Virginia so that is what the number is.

This helped me so much. My daughter is deployed and I didn't know it was her until now. I'm sick I missed her call!

This number actually IS from overseas. My cousin is in the Army and she is currently stationed in Germany. I will never let this pass again!

My son-in-law is a Marine. He deployed for Afghanistan two days ago and he just called me from this number. He did say that he wasnt in Afghanistan but was very close to there

Just wanted to say thank you all for writing in.  I was so confused to have this number come up as I believe 757 area code is norfolk Va, and I used to live there.  I couldnt think of who could possibly be trying to call me.  My fiance is deployed to Kosovo currently, and he calls from various numbers.  This put an end to all the confusion.  Thank you.

I just had a missed call from this # and whn cld bck was discntd or wnt to a dial tone.  There were two similar Numbers

My son, USAF, calls me twice a week, from this number. If you get a call, it could be a family member of yours calling YOU.

Anytime my son calls me while he is deployed the call displays with this number and sometimes with the name DITCO.  As stated previously there is a delay so don't hang up just wait and if it is a wrong number for you then tell our guys and gals how much you appreciate them and wish them a great day.

This same number called me today at 2:33pm .

Hello, all. I am currently in Afghanistan, and I use a calling card to call back home. Out of curiosity, I asked my lady friend what my number showed up as, and she said it was 757-788-8298. So perhaps the calls you're all getting is from somebody using a calling card? Perhaps even a military calling card?

keep getting hang-up calls from this number....some as early as 7:00 am...but all inthe mornings, never in the evenings.  Never leaves a message, hangs-up when I answer....anyone have any idea who it is?

i got the call from this same # this morning at about 6:22 or 6:625,and all i found out is that it belongs to somebody in hampton,va. hope someting can be done about this.

This number is linked to the military.  My brother-in-law who is deployed just called me from this number.

It's anyone using a calling card.. Most likely ones that the red cross give to the troops going overseas..

My son who is in the "sandbox" called me and this number was the number that popped up in the called ID. When they call stateside they calls are routed stateside they are patched through to you. There is a delay in the call and the calls can be VERY faint. My hubby can't hear him at all due to the call being faint. I have calls from my son that are patched in from various numbers.  So if you have a love one overseas in the military and this number pops up and it says DITCO answer it.

This number kept calling me and not leaving a message. It happened to be my husband who is in the military using a calling card. He's not overseas, he's actually in the states.

Definitely from overseas, members of the military use this number to relay calls home.  Answer it!!!  God Bless America!!!

Got a call from this number tonight and almost didn't answer it! It was my boyfriend from overseas! He in the Air Force and who would have thought a short phone call could break my heart and make me the happiest woman in the world all at the same time!! We are surving our first deployment! If you get a call from this number and have a loved one overseas...ANSWER IT!! You just might miss out on one of the most important moments in life!

Missed a call from this number from my cell phone.  Tried to call it back and it "connected" but gave me a dial tone (which is strange since I'm on a cell phone).  Don't know who it could be.

I received a call from this number late last night. I was already asleep and didn't answer but I recognized the 757 area code as being around Norfolk Virginia because my ex husband used to be stationed at the Navy base there and our area code was 757.  I just recently changed my cell phone number and  my best guess, after reading all the other posts, is that whoever had this number before me has a loved one in the military and they were trying to get in contact with them.  I have family in the military but I haven't had my number long enough to pass it out to them and the last time I checked they were all CONUS, that is in the Continental United States.
