Steve Wright, a man with a very thick East Indian accent, called from World PC TECH, telling me my computer had malicious virus on it and all my files and system was getting infected.  I kept plying him with questions to verify his legitimacy and the legitimacy of his call.  He wanted me to go to the Run Window and enter EVENTVWR init.

I don't know what your game is, but you are a jerk, you should not prey on older people. Get a real job that you can use your skills.

A client of mine just received the "Your computer is infected and that they needed to turn it on immediately so he could help them fix it"  A very aggressive man calling himself Sam Bradley called from the number 760.514.0111 claiming to be with Warren PC FIX.  Their PC was NOT infected with anything remotely dangerous.

A man with a very strong East Indian accent called me from "World PC Tech" to tell me that my computer was infected and he could help me fix it. He said his name was Sam George and that my windows system computer was infected with viruses. He said he could show me the "error report" and wanted me to turn on my computer, go to device manager, event manager... that's as far as I went. I figured it was a scam.

Unsolicited call!!    Male caller had thick Hindi accent, identified himself as calling on behalf of Wolrd PC Tech.  Informed me some kind of flag was triggered by my computer and Microsoft had them looking into it because I'm such a good customer.  (I laughed so hard at the ludicrousness of it all)

I let the jerk 'Sam George' go on and on, had him repeat it a bunch of times pretending I didn't fully understand what could possibly have happened to cause my computer to alert Microsoft.  Finally after tossing him around like a cat with a ball of paper, I told him I just remembered I had an appointment and would call him back because he sounded like such a nice man.  Asked for his number repeated it to him a couple of times to get his hopes up.

Now he can wait until I'm damn good and ready to call........ which will be the day after never!!

Called this morning to say that my new computer (how did they know?) was infected with viruses and I should go to my computer and they would help me remove them. I said I wasn't at my computer and would have to call back. "John Clark" (an unusual name for someone with such a thick Indian accent) gave me the 760-514-0111 number. All the earmarks of a scam (plus background noise of a boiler-room operation), which it is judging by the other posts.

Do not believe that anyone would call you to protect your computer-   and realize if you log in to the
www.logmein123.com site;, or any other site that allowes them to remotely view your computer, they can steal anything on it.

My father (elderly and legally blind) received a call the other night.  The person calling indicated that they worked for a company that was contracted by Microsoft to remove viruses from computers, and that something in his Windows software had triggered a flag that prompted the call.  They walked him through a few things from the Start menu, saying that the icons that he was looking at were viruses.  It started out that they could handle the removal for $96.00, but then the fee started going up as he had "more than the average" number of problems.  They were to call back the next day, after he had submitted an electronic form with his credit card information.  Fortunately, he called me first...

Man with thick indian accent told me a research company in my area had informed them my computer had a virus that would not be picked up by other virus software.  Wanted to scare me by showing me the windows error logs and then wanted me to go to http://www.logmein123.com in order to get remote access to my computer.  I looked up the web site before going to it and told them  that I don't let anyone remote access into my computer, let alone a company I had never heard of.

they gave me this number to call back and talk with Jack if I "wanted more help with my computer"  It is a scam based on all web site info.

My dad received a call from an "Arnold Brown" at 760-514-0111 who stated, "according to our records, your computer has been down for 2 days and we just wanted to make sure you were aware of it."  My parents don't know anything about computers and don't have one, but my dad just asked for the guy's name and phone number and said he would call him back.  Dad then gave me the info and asked me to call Brown.  It sounded weird so I check the Internet for the number first and found it reported on this site. My first thought was to return the call to have some fun and see what they were up to (since I knew whatever they would say would be bogus), but then I realized that I really don't want to waste my time on those idiots!~

This guy kept calling us, reading from the same script he read to everyone else posting here. I knew it was a scam after finding out from this website, so I called him out on it. He proceeded to tell me he was going to track me down and "make sex to" me. So f...ing lame. If what this site says holds true, though, it should mean that these guys will finally stop calling.
What makes this even more laughably pathetic is that he was calling to scam someone who hasn't lived in my place of residence for over four years.

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.

To register a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General?s Consumer Protection Division, call 1(800) 432-2310 or visit www.ksag.org.

James Boston, or Officer White, or any other white person names keeps calling my phone, saying they are from American Law Firm, but when I try and get in touch with American Law Firm, they are indeed a real law firm, and they have stated that they are in Santa Ana California, not Escondido where this number originates, there is a pending case against these Indian dialers, they have stolen people's information to use illegally to illicit money and extortion in multiple states, without regard to the real law, or the real law firm whom they are stealing their name from. PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY...THEY ARE SCAMMERS TAKING MONEY FROM YOU. I WOULD SUGGEST CONTACTING YOUR LOCAL FBI OFFICE, and THE FTC ABOUT THEM. I hope this helps some of you save your time and money, they are idle threats that cannot hurt you!
