These people have an accent from India.  I called My Cash Now and they verified that they do not even have an account with me.  This Cyber Security Officer calls himself Eric Josh and the first call I got he said he would take my case to the Supreme Court if I did not pay him $300.  He told me to write a letter that said "By this letter I authorize to charge $300 from my account and I do not want any legal action against me."  Then he said sign it, date it, and fax or email it along with a copy of my driver license to 760-692-1490.

I too received a phone call from an Indian accented man who sounded like he was in a large call center. Although he didn't use curse words, he did threaten me by telling my he was calling from the cyber crimes unit and a law suit was filed against my name. Apparently this guy was featured on the Dr. Phil show (so says my mom). Be warry and careful folks.

I received a call saying they were from a Cyber Crimes Unit and that illegal games were downloaded and I was going to have to go to court because this was my last warning with no prior calls then gave me this number to call. I called it to find out what was going on and had to yell at 3 people until i got someone without an accent who told me it was a payday loan and I owed 300. I had looked into one but declined it.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

Ok here's a new one be aware. Got a call at 10:29 am. Caller id on my cell was ph# (845) 928-1836. tried to call that # back it has been disconected. Then I listened to the voice mail...very difficult to understand. I think he said his name was Doug from American advance. Then have me this ph #(760) 588-2200. I had to listen to it 3 times, to kind of understand it. Still couldn't, same accent. I will remind you I had applied for a payday loan 4 months ago, was never approved, funded, or recieved anything on terms/conditions of re-payment. I have taken the steps provided by this site. Thank you once again. I just now want to let others know of new numbers etc.

These people called me but since it was unknown i did not pick up. They left a voicemail that was very difficult to hear. It is a man with an indian accent calling me and telling me that i need to pay off my loan and to settle the account i would need to call (760)588-2200. I have never taken out a loan in my life. there was one point where i applied for one due to an emergency situation, but never got the loan. I have never received money from this company, but they still call me. Is there anything I can do to stop these scam calls, except for change my number? I have saved every voicemail from these people and have recorded the calls using google voice and reported everything but it seems like every few months a new number will be calling me.

This same company keeps calling me. Same guy but he keeps saying he is either Jason, James or Max. Says I took out a $300 loan with CashNet USA, in July and have not made any payments. Advise him he must have the wrong person. I only took out a $150 payment with that company in June and have all my emails from them. I only have one payment left of $40.81. But this guys keeps calling him, he called me 4 times while I was on the line with CashNet USA, and when I spoke with them, they told me it is a fact collection company and advised me to report it to their compliance department so it can be investigated. Advised me if he calls back let him know I know who he is and that I will report him or call the police. When I did that, he tried to say that his information in right and CashNet is wrong. I told him, how could they be wrong if they are the one I owe. He tried to get info from me but I told him if he has my information, prove it. And then it got really scary, because he told me my banking info, DL number, SSN and email. I am so scared and don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advice on who to contact this issue?

Someone just called me and left this number. The number shows up as UNKNOWN on caller ID. They claimed I took a pay day loan of $300 on May 25. I told them I would check it out-he said he would call back within 15 minutes. The first thing out of his mouth was he was calling from an attorney based collection agency and when I was going to pay this back. When I pushed him to find out the name, he paused then said Cash Partners America. When I did a reverse look up on this number, it is located in the middle of the southern California desert. I just called back (blocking my phone #), rang once then nothing-even if I pressed 1-9,0,#, and *. But I can be sure if I unblocked the number it would go through.

This is such BS they need a trainload of ExLax.

They have called my phone disturbing what little time I have with my three year old considering that I  constantly work. Do not give these spanners any info.

Called me today numerous times then finally left a message. They said that I had not paid off a pay day loan and would now be charged $750 from my bank account unless I call them with my social security number. Of course I did not call back, but I did get some good advice from a friend who had received similair calls. Put a fraud alert on your credit report. It lasts 90 days and protects anyone from opening anything under your name that you don't authorize. You can do it through Experian and its quick and easy. it does nothing negative to your credit. These people call me from different numbers all the time claiming they are different companies. You can also report them to the FCC and the BBB. They take advantage of vulnerable people and are disgusting. This indian man told me his name is steven ( i think it was hard to make out). Also report the calls to the FBI so they can track these jerks. Also installed google voice onto my smart phone so when i do call them back i can record the conversations.

I posted on June 20th about the same # 760-588-2200.  The man called again the next day and identified himself from a PDL company that I am familiar with.  I contacted the person who is handling my debt and they contacted this # and was advised that he was going to sue her!  This # is clearly a scam # and they must have gotten some new telephone #s.  I thought he said Cash Yes, but maybe he said Cash Net.  The scammers that call are virtually IMPOSSIBLE to understand.

We have been receiving multiple calls from a man who English clearly is not his first language. Originally he was stating he was collecting a debt, he progressively went down hill from there! They continued to threaten me, tell me they were going to be at my house tomorrow listed my address back to me & then the profanity started.  He put someone else on the phone & they took the threats & profanity up.  They continue to call & I keep hanging up>

Unlike all of the other calls I have gotten from fake payday loan collection people, I don't think this guy ever called me before.  The other numbers that have called me are definitely the same man who says the same thing.  I don't doubt they got new numbers or something b/c they call two times and leave a voice mail on the second call.  This man was IMPOSSIBLE to understand.  He attempted to identify himself and where & why he was calling but I'll be damned if I understood a thing he said other than the phone # and he said something about me calling him by tomorrow AM and something about $450. The calls come through as either BLOCKED or UNKNOWN.  Really, do they think I am going to answer that?
