Could heard a call center (other representatives talking) in the back ground. No one actually spoke when I answered. I received a similar call yesterday.

I was told by an Indian guy at WAMU to wait until March 10 and then call them, as the Chase acquisition will be complete and some of the people he's talked to have both WAMU and Chase and Chase works with them. I won't believe it till I see it. Just never answer your phone.

thank you for this site! i work for another bank not affiliated with WAMU and this number keeps calling my phone. i work at a call center so my number is not something i can give out. i'll answer next time and tell them off...

continuous - non-stop - several days -- no messages

This is Washington Mutual.  The frustrating thing is that I had already made a payment on the account.  When I got on the line and told this to the lady, she said that she could see the payment on the account but didn't look before she called.  My husband demanded that they stop calling and then they still called!!!!  I finally was transferred to a supervisor and she assured me that we won't be called anymore.  We'll see if that worked.

WAMU has failed miserably, although they are not the only debt collector to use the autodialer. WAMU takes it to new heights by using hundreds of phoney numbers all staffed by people who don't live in America. Kudos to them I geuss if they can pay someone 10 cents an hour to collect their past due loans, but they should know that most people are on to this and they aren't going to readily negotiate their American account with a voice from India or Pakistan or somewhere else. Just not going to happen as often as they'd like.

I keep getting calls from these people because I had a credit card that I still owe on They call 8 to 9 times a day at all hours. You can't understand anything they say,I don't know what country their from!!!! I can't get anyone to help me with a payment plan. I've been paying on this debt for over a year and the balance seems to stay the same. Im sick of this!!!!!!!

WAMU went out of buisness; I see why now... either you can't understand a word they are saying or they are just plain rude.  P.S.  I am up to date with all my payments...  If I wasn't I would have received something in the mail.  NEVER GIVE INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE TO ANYONE.  

ALWAYS, IF THERE IS A DISPUTE, REQUEST THEY SEND YOU SOMETHING IN THE MAIL.  THIS WAY YOU HAVE SOMETHING IN WRITING IF YOU NEED TO DISPUTE ANY CLAIM ABOUT YOUR CREDIT.

Same thing with me, WaMu calls 15 to 20 times a day from at least 5 different numbers.  They call my home, my cell, my work repeatedly.  Like so many of you, I've explained that I'm trying to catch up, but my infant had severe health issues causing me to take a leave from work then my husband lost his job and we are trying to stay afloat and catch up.  They don't care, they told me to borrow money or they'd sue me.  So I stopped answering the calls and now they harrass me at every number they have for me and won't stop.

they use this number and 623-476-0009, 703-269-0648, 210-247-0026 and so many others. you tell them you lost your job and they read from the script. they ask you to borrow money. I tell them if i borrow money it will be to feed my kids not pay them.

They kept call evry hour. I don't even have a WAMU acount! It is so stupid. Everybody use your sates NO CALL LIST it is very helpful. Look it up.

Yes, same as most above. Several times a day from different area codes. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. They call my landline and then my cell right after. I have made two payments this billing period and have written several times saying I'm going to be catching up soon, but not today. But they don't go away. I tried to change my info on my profile online so they'd at least quit calling my cell phone, but they won't let you change your information. It's a pain. I'm just looking on it as a competition where the one with the most stubbornness wins.

I don't routinely answer calls if I don't recognize the number.  They have called me using three different numbers, multiple times each day, and never leave a message.  I have notified them in writing of my intent to pay them in total with a severance package I will receive in January, but the calls keep coming.

I will be closing my account as soon as it is paid off, and will make sure as many people as possible know not to ever deal with these crooks.

Yes, it's the evil Washington Mutual again.  They try to confuse debtors by launching an assault from a different area code every day.

This number and so many like it keep calling and never leave a message. I get atleast 10 calls a day and some past 10 at night.

Keep getting calls from Gorgia, Fla, New Jersey, even Prodata,  I know its wamu.  I tried to reason with them on my payment, when to expect it, etc.  They just keep calling 5 times a day, 7 days a week.  They will not work with you on anything!

I GOT A CALL FROM THAT NUMBER TODAY AND IT WAS SOMEONE WITH A HEAVY ACCENT FROM INDIA. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND ANY WORD HE SAID. IT'S REALLY ANNOYING.

WAMU pays overseas workers to make collection calls....I can barely understand them.  I ask to speak to a supervisor and/or manager and they tell me they are busy.  I don't advise anyone to speak to any of them until they can get a manager on the phone.  You try to tell them you will make a payment as soon as possible, but that still isn't good enough.  Maybe if they were here in the US to see how bad the economy is, then they would understand!

This is a collections call because I am 15 days late on my payment.  Calls 6 times per day always from different numbers.  Caller ID says Georgia, Virginia, Florida, California, Nevada... a different state everytime is listed as the caller.

I never pick up. Not ashamed to say everybody should stop paying their bills to places with predatory practices. Open accounts at local credit unions with good reps!
