Sad but this is the norm these days. My profiles all say no travel or relocation and STILL at least 90% of the emails and calls I get are for out of state jobs. If you are going to post your number on a job board (or anywhere really) get a Google Voice number. It is free and you can block the clueless and or forward only calls from those that have a clue. You can even direct the clueless to custom messages. I've been collecting numbers for a couple years now. As of today mine recognizes the numbers for
460 agencies that call about out jobs out of state.
214 agencies that seem at least have a clue
24 agencies that say they have local jobs but are just time wasters
Note that is agencies not numbers. Especially the ones in the 460 group tend to have many numbers attached.
Also spammers and scammers have been hitting the email addresses harvested from the jobs boards especially hard lately. So on top of having a jobs email account you probably want one with great spam filters on it.

Got a call from this number. Pyramid Consulting has been spamming my inbox for months with inappropriate job listings that don't even come close to matching my skills, goals, or stated geographic preferences.  Whether they are legitimate or not, they certainly lack ethics in their methods.  I'm highly skeptical about any business that can't do the proper homework to see if there is a proper fit before contacting people about jobs.

770-255-7550.  "Pyramid Consulting" in Georgia.  This appears to be a genuine company, but one with a bit of a communications problem.  It's basically a temp service for the information technology world.  Most every time I've heard from them, it's been someone with such a heavy Indian accent that I could barely make out a word he was saying.  But it does appear to be a real consulting firm, and was calling me with legitimate jobs.

Prank Call
I've been getting numerous calls from people with thick hard to understand Indian accents ever since I got conned into posting my resume at s job site called corp-corp.com. I say scammed because I happened to have found it through a LinkedIn group I joined - maybe not the exact name: telecommuting something... the people who call present themselves as recruiters, but they are evidently third party recruiters, so they don't have direct clients a majority of them.

I have now stopped picking up the phone now. It's particularly disturbing because n ow the calls I'm getting now have become harrassing. One from CA at 10:30 at night where the Guy (American accent) said he"have a package for" me. I didn't get it at first. I just thought it was a scam and asked how could he have a package for me at almost 11:00pm at night - besides my caller id indicated a CA no., but I live on the East coast.

That was almost two weeks ago, so the info from the call is no longer available, but maybe I'll post later. Then yesterday - I still have this info -- I got heavy breathing when I picked up this call:

6/06 4:07pm Lilburn, GA 770-255-7741

I've blocked that numbered. I was curious to see today if anyone picked up the phone at the above number. After patiently waiting through a busy signal someone with a thick Indian accent picked up. So that's when I decided to look up this number online.

So I just quickly (took a while actually) looked at my phone records online for the info on that CA number:

5 phone calls from an "unavailable" in less than 48 hours after I posted my resume on line. Finally I received a message asking me to return a call most urgently about an available position in my area. He was very hard to understand. The trigger for me was that he only used my first name, no Ms., no last name...he was just too casual for a cold call recruiter. Not professional at all. Glad I checked here before wasting time returning a call.

Recieved a call from someone with a thick indian accent, attempting to sell me "auto insurance."  When I told him I didn't have a car he said they also had "the home insurence."  I said I was not interesrted and he pressed me to know if my insurance had gone up in price.  I reiterated that I was not inerested.  He told me he wasn't trying to sell me insurance.  Then he said, "how tall are you?  Come on now 5.4, 5.6?"  Weh I wanted to know what that had to do with anything, he said, "bye-bye" and hung up.  I found the phone number by using star 69.  I called back and got the name of Westfield Pyramid.
He knew my address, my e-mail address, and and my phone number.  I'm wondering what else he knew and what he was after.
This is very disquieting to say the least.

Both AT&T and Capital One require a SS# before they will allow a candidate to be submitted. AT&T uses your social as your unique candidate identifier. It is a ridiculous practice, but Pyramid is correct in that it is required for those two clients.

hi, i am apparently working thru your agency. i thank your company for the opportunity it has possibly opened up for me. i was just wondering if there was another person to contact within us hours. my agents are only available before working hours on my side. also, im half hearing, and i find it very difficult having a conversation with them. i am trying to get information about receiving my pay.
also, what makes them feel like a scam is how they maneuver about things. and when they talk to you, it like there always trying to give a run around, or their info doesnt always add together.
i did not have a bad experience, but i was not always as comfortable.

I have dealing with these people since sept. Yes, when you do get  in touch with them, their english is horrible and very hard to understand. I also thought they were a scam. Until i ended up with an interview with UPS. i also find out that there is someone else who got temp'ed hired under the same group. it still feels a little fishy, hence me researching it bc im told i will not get a paycheck until the 7th, which is a 3-4 week time frame.
so far everything is going good. i will post back if i get paid...lol
But their home is in INDIA. i think they are a third party. i just hope taking a chance doesnt screw me

I got a call from them.  They said my resume was perfect for the job and they needed me to start right away.   However, they requested the last 4 of my SSN, I would not provide it.  They then put two different levels of "management" on the phone to explain why it was needed.  They were not valid reasons. THerefore, I did not provide it.  Finally, they said they could do without it.   HMMMM.. Why would they change their minds?  They said they would call me tomorrow with more information.  Of course, I never got a call.   I would never work for them

Just for the sake of full disclosure, I work for Pyramid - my butt is currently in a seat in our Alpharetta, GA office, which is our worldwide HQ.  We are not only legit, 23 of our current clients (i.e., the companies that hire us to find you) are Fortune 500 companies, including those listed in previous posts here.  I actually came across this site while trying to hunt down a publication date on an article that was written about us and AT&T last year.  We have been in business since 1996 and have won numerous industry awards.  We have about 20 recruiters in the U.S. and about 150 in our India offices.  I know that trying to understand the Indian accents can be frustrating - I experience it myself.  And I understand the hesitancy of giving out your SSN over the phone (I wouldn't do it).  BUT...  If you are on the job hunt, and you get a call from one of our recruiters, be friendly, professional and patient with both the recruiter and the process.  You don't want to let a negative attitude be the one thing getting between you and a paycheck.

As for the people saying that they get VM's asking them to email their info/current resume, but never being given an email to send it to (it seems to be a recurring theme here), I'll mention that to our Director of Client Delivery so he can address it.

These people (Rajit) have called me several times.  Each time they call it's about a job - always in Round Rock Tx.  They verify some information on my resume and then ask for my Social Security number.  No legimate placement firm will ask for your social security number up front.  You only should provide that information after you are hired and asked to fill out the employers paper work.
Mr Choudhury - if you gave these people your social security number you are being deceived and are a fool.

I got a phone call this morning after applying for some employment websites yesterday. It was a hard to understand woman with a weird dialect, offering a position as administrative assistant in my state. I won't bother to call back since the call made isn't  local and the woman hard to understand.
Also, I received another phone call a few minutes before this, 800 578 0915 didn't leave a voice mail but from reading up on this number it's from a school and again this is from one of the websites I visited, I remember clicking on one of the sites NOT interested in furthering my education, if they are legit, then why still call people?

Got a call from a woman a couple years back from Pyramid. She ounded somewhat British though I couldn't place the dialect.  I asked her about it and she dodged the quesition.  Same logo on email. Said has a job, and among other things asked what my rate is. I quoted her a number and she came back with a much higher one.  Playing off of greed there. Got several calls asking for info, finally Social Security Number.  Like an idiot, I gave it up. I remember the company name becasue I associated it with 'pyramid scam'.

Got a  call from Rajit last week. Same thing: Has job wants me to fine tune resume, I gave figure I'd work for, he bumped it up some. Asked me in voice mail for Social Security Number (neither did so in an email).  I've not returned calls or email since.

Have been getting calls starting as early as 5 AM! About 4 or 5 a day.  Some a couple minutes apart. Rajit will leave the occasional voice mail telling me has yet another position that I might want.

None of the positions offered match my job skills very closely.

Are they legit? Perhaps.  I don't think so. If you get a call or email, run the other way.

Yes. They are a consulting vendor based in Atlanta. We ourselves are a small company with employees, make some tiny incomes on the commissions. We sent our consultant, convinced him to show up in 3 days at the client site, only to find out that the paperwork wasn't complete. And then there was no project. I took huge loss on my misadventure with these folks. Good Luck. They only call you when it is an opportunity for them. They don't call you back when you need some answers. When you hear "we will get back to you in 10 min" that will never happen. Good Luck guys. But when the market is as bad as this current situation, we can't help trying all venues - can we?

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is legit. I researched and also asked to speak with the agent's supervisor. I recently had a great interview with a major corporation that they submitted me to. I am also able to personally email the agent for status and receive quick response. Times have changed and calls in the evening are not to be suspect; but rather an opportunity knocking.
