This isn't a "scam" as some people are calling it, but instead lazy/desperate debt collectors.  They are simply calling people in the phone book with the same name as an individual with debt.  There is/was someone with the same name as myself living in the same metropolitan area for who I use to receive dept collection calls (and one or two personal calls, hilariously).  I hadn't received a debt collection phone call in a few years so i figured he/she either moved or fixed their money problems, but I received a phone call recently from "Investigator Allen of P 'n A Investigators" (a woman with a heavy southern african-american accent representing Purdie and Associates, a debt collection firm) at this phone number.

I got a phone call about a guy I was married to and divorced shortly thereafter in 1985. Wow they really had to dig to find me! I don't even have the same last name or live in the same city as I did when we were married. I haven't talked to him for 25 plus years. Wow unbelievable.

I am tired of these people calling my job and my home trying to say I owe money.  I told them to stop calling me.  It is a lady by the name of Agent Greene.  Saying that i owe for a payday loan that doesn't even  exists.  These people are sick and need to be stopped.

I tried to ignore it after reading all of this, I even told them that this was fraud.  They still keep calling

same thing happened to me 1 payment 2 payments, 3 payments, then 4 payments.  They would not give me a fax number, just wanted payment.

They are calling me under the name of Purdie and assoc.

I keep getting a call from an agent greene claiming that i owe money to a payday loan place.  It is getting so bad, they call me at work and called my home wanting my husband to pay them or get money from a family member.  She even asked him to call me at work 3 way.  I am getting sick of these calls, can someone please help me?  I even asked for a fax number to fax information that i did not owe them.  All they kept asking was when can u  make a payment.  We don't even have a cash and go in Zanesville, Ohio.  These people are sick!!!!!!!

Got a call from this # just a few minutes ago. Supposedly from GA, they left a message (calling me by the wrong name) saying that it was imperative to call back... not gonna happen.

I got the same thing but looking for Richard Harrison.

Yeah today I, I mean my grandfather got that call looking for Richard Harrison or something and she didn't believe him. If y'all get that phone call ignore it immeditly.

Got the same call stating that it's important I call due to some matter being investigated. I didn't call after reading these blogs.

Tolliver from Georgia was looking for a family member of mine.  Called me by my first name & said they were an investigator.   Thought this type of thing was in the past.   Makes me want to give up ALL phones.   Did NOT give the "A**le any information

MY DAD GOT THE SAME CALL 3 DAYS AGO, THE GOOD THIG NO ONE WAS HOME SO THIS PERSON FROM "INVESTIGATOR TOLLIVER" LET A MESSAGE FOR MY DAD...... IT IS A SCAM I GUESS....

Got a phone call asking for my daughter, asked who's calling said investigator tolliver asked him what this is concerning said because of Federal Laws he could not tell me, asked again,  what he was calling for asked me were he can contact my daughter he has a situation and need to speak to her right away.  Informed him i can take his number and have her call him back, he gave me the number  again i asked what this was concerning, told me just have her call back and basically hung up on me. He will not get a call back and if he calls again he has messed with the wrong person

Got a message from "Investigator Tolliver" and he addressed me by my first name. Said he was with B&A or P&A in the "investigation division", that's he's got a situation and to give him a call back right away.  I didn't call back after reading these posts.

When I answered, nobody replied.

I got the same call, "This is Investigator... It is critical that you call me immediately... " Totally bogus call. Thanks to all those who actually filed a complaint. Where's Anonymous when you need them?

Got a call from this number and was left a message from a "Investigator Tolliver".(Which was totally bogus). He said he had something that needed great attention and that I'm to call back today. I check into and found it was a collection tactic to scare me by saying I'm under investigation.

Called and left message on answering machine claiming to be Investigator Tolliver with the investigations division and that he had an urgent situation and that I contact him immediately.  Of course, having a family, this message scarred me big time.  I called the number and spoke with "Investigator" Tolliver, he wanted all kinds of information, which I did not give and then wanted to know if I knew someone, I told him I did not and then I asked what agency or police department he was with, he just said to disregard the call and hung up.  I have filed a complaint with the Governor's Office of Consumer Protection.  They were somewhat interested.  However, my local police department was very interested in the fact that he impersonated an officer.  Dumbass left the message on my voicemail.  Police department asked that I file a report with them.  I think that is how you get to these crooks.  I think they will move a little faster and have a lot less red tape to cut through unlike state agencies.

i recieved a call from this number and my parent did also. calls were from Investigator Toliver. call back this number. so i called back and got an answering machine. left my name and number. he called back and stated i had a loan from Ace Cash Express for $500 that i defaulted on. the balance is now $800. give me a debit or credit card to fund this debt. my wife was diagnosed with MS and i have very little right now due to the medical bills. he said fine.. i can do $700 today. then it was 700 in two payments. then three payments then four then six. after reading all on this website i told them i wanted their address to send a letter for verification and validation of the debt. he transferred me to his lead agent??? i told him i would not pay until i get the validation. he said he would fax or email it to me and it would take 15 minutes. well its been 2 hours no email. i did find their address and i will send a letter to them today certified.

Wow, same story as EB above. I  received this phone message from a woman with a southern accent:
"This is investigator Shepard. I need you to call me on a matter that needs your immediate attention."  Sounded professional.
I didn't call them after coming to this website and seeing this was probably a scam.

I just received a call from this number and they left a message on my answering machine..a woman that states her name "Investigater Shepherd" and calls me by my first name says "it is imparative you contact me today"  1-770-458-6789...I called and this lady did answer "Investigator Shepherd" and she states she could not find any information that she called me.  Now after reading these posts I know it is a scam  On the caller ID it states Purdue & A** with this number

I spoke with the Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs who handles complaints for the Attorney General in GA.  The gentleman that I spoke with said they are fully aware of the practices of Brown, Stein & Weissman and have a current open investigation.  He asked that I send a statement via USPS to GEORGIA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, 2 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DRIVE SE, SUITE 356, ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30334-4600 or fax to 404-651-9018 describing my contact with this company and their practices.  He asked that I use the form located at http://www.georgia.gov/vgn/images/portal/cit_ ... mplaintform.pdf for expedited processing by their office.  He stated that it's extremely important to their case to include in my statement if the phone representative claimed to be an attorney, claimed that the firm is a law firm or alluded to the firm being a law firm or having lawyers on staff or something about a  network of attorneys that work for their firm.  He also asked me to end my statement with the line below:

I respectfully request that the firm Brown, Stein & Weissman, LLC be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law pursuant to 15 USC §§ 1692 § 814 and State laws regarding Fair Debt Collection Credit Practices.

Yea--I got the same claim and it was BS!! Extremely rude ppl! Called family members claiming I was under investigation in GA. and MN.Told family member they were Detectives. Totally Bogus Stuff all of it!!! Amount was double what should have been collected for some strange reason.
