They called me and said I owed them money because 2 checks that i wrote were bad and when I told them I don't write checks and don't even own a bank account they became extremely rude and started cussing at me!

Just received a call about a check that I had that was Stolen (with a stop payment on it).  They told me it was NSF, the check was for $125.00 they wanted $450.00.  I told them till I see a letter with their letterhead on it I would not be sending them anything.  I told them I have NO bad debts.  Funny the check was written to the school district and they are out for Christmas break.  As well as the school knew about the original check being stolen.  Funny thing is that I am sure it is illegal in every state to charge $325.00 as a fee to collect a bad debt.  They are a total scam and I hope no legitimate business are using them to collect.   Total SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lasy time they called for my ex daughter- in-law.  She never lived here so I don't know how they got this phone #.  Last time they called I said she died from cancer last month.

Thing is they call and ask for my fomer daughter-in-law who is now divorced and never lived at this address. Last time they called I told them she died from cancer a month ago.

Called themself GCRI- Georgia Check Recovery and every piece of information that I encountered regarding them is disreputable. I have never been to Georgia much less bounced a check will any company located there. Why would a valid company be attempting to collect a bad check from 4 states away? And they even had the wrong name when leaving a message. Same last name but don't know anyone by the first name they called for. I think its a phishing expedition and they target whomever they can scam.Please be cautious when dealing with this company!

Yes they are a fraud company.... They are asking you give your bank information to them over the phone or wire them money!! Don't trust them!! They are just after your money!

I asked them to validate my debt because I didn't feel comfortable sending payment moneygram or giving my account information over the phone without even receiving a letter from them!! They told me they were not legally inclined to send me notice. I spoke with the DA in my county and they told me not to send them any money due to them refusing to provide me proof of my debt! Don't send them any money they are scamming you.. do a little more research on the company and you will find they are a fake company!

This is a legite company.  We had two checks that didn't clear before we closed our checking account.  The company we wrote the checks to never tried to collect the debt and the account was eventually sold to GCRI. We received a letter in the mail to confirm this.  Just ask them to validate the debit.

That is not true they accept check by phone, western union, money gram, walk in, and money orders

DON'T WRITE BAD CHECKS THEN YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FEES

To defend my grandmother's honor she works for telecheck and they recover checks all over the united states so just because you are in collections for passing bad checks does not mean you wrote the check in that state. C'mon think about it.

I would send a money order with the correct amount, plus the nsf charge to the ORIGINAL company. Keep really good records of this transaction. The original company cannot refuse payment from you.

well what do you do in the situation.. they are wanting money from me $175.o5 for a $40.00 check.. I spoke with the company the check was written to and they said it had been turned over to Georgia Collection agency..  they wanted the money by friday 2.. no later.. i have not yet paid them because i was unsure what to do.. especially knowing now that the company saids it had been turned over to them.  the company will not let me pay them.. they said i had to go thru GCR...  
????any suggestions...??

This is absolutely a SCAM. They only want money by phone check. It is a total hoax. Don't fall for this!!

From what I read it is not a valid company.  I wonder if they put that post here.  There is definitely something shady going on with this company.

It is a valid collection Company that alot of businesses use
to recover funds from Bounce checks.
