Ditto to "Shot Caller" - received an automated call from Jenny @ The Steam Cleaners.  We have no prior association and are also on the DNC list.  Also, automated calls are illegal in my state.

Go to donotcall.gov and click the 'File a Complaint' button to report calls like this to the people most able to do something about it. Don't assume everyone else is doing it -- do it yourself!  Besides, the more complaints that are filed, the more it helps get 'businesses' like this get shut down.

Apparently a junk call.  When calling back (to see who they were) was told number "is no longer in service."  Calls like these are a nuisance!

How can a # that just phoned you be disconnected? I have caller ID.I was out of the house when the call came through on my land line.I called the # back, from my cell phone, twice.Recording said # not in service. There was no message on my machine. This should be against the law.

Automated message about steam cleaning - I pushed 8 to be removed from calling list - doubt it will work.  Next time I'll give them the White House number - let Obama deal with this garbage.

Another carpet ROBOCALL, similar to all the other ones in the last year- "HI this is Bill from the carpet cleaning company....".  Number is faked.
As I do every week or so in the last year when they call, I report it to DONOTCALL.
I want my provider T-Mobile to sue & stop them like Verizon did to the Car Warranty robo-callers!

Well obviously pushing the 8 to be removed did nothing since I received another call today....I just started pushing buttons since this is an automated message.  If I had call forwarding I would forward all my calls to the White House and let them deal with it.

Called the number back and got a ''number has been disconnected or is no longer in service'' recorded message.

I am located in California and have been getting calls for several months from a company reported to be "Steam Cleaners" even though I'm on the national do not call list and have told them on several occasions to remove me from their call list. The calling phone number always shows "private" or is not real (555-555-5555). The initial call is a recorded ad for carpet cleaning, and then there is an option to press "1" to speak to a representative.

Several times when I speak to the representative, I've asked where they are located and their phone number. Each time, the representative immediately hangs up so they obviously know they are breaking the law.

I've tried contacting my phone carrier (AT&T), who refuses to provide a call back number without a court order. Next time they call, I'm considering making an appointment with a fake address. Hopefully, this will discourage them from future calls!

Its bad because we work at Stanley Steemer and our customers are thinking that its us calling. I am going to report this immediately. We would never telemarket our customers like that. This is sad that everyone has to deal with all the calls. Some of our customers said they are even calling late at night.

Today, July 22, 2009, at 12:31 p.m., we received a call from 770-690-6353.  The Caller ID indicated Georgia.  I typed the number into the Google search engine and found this site.  I read what one person said about calling back to that same number and finding it to be disconnected.  So, I tired the same thing and sure enough, it is still disconnected.  Or that is the message you get when you call it.  I phoned my phone company's business office to ask how someone can call from a disconnected number.  They could not tell me how this was possible.

Last week, caller left a taped message offering carpet cleaning service. Said Press 1 to speak to rep; press 2 if you don't want further calls.  I couldn't pick up in time to opt out of future calls.  Called again today, 7-21-09, and when I answered, no one replied to my answer.  I was going to ask them not to call again.  I tried to call them back, and the number has been disconnected, so they are using a false caller ID.

Beth,

Seems like the Hampton Roads area must be a target.  I live in Yorktown and I get a call from this number almost every day.  I answered it once and it was a pitch for carpet cleaning.  It must be a scam or they're desperate enough to drive all the way up from Georgia just to clean carpets. :)  Hey, I'm going to try the # thing you mentioned.  Sounds like a great fix!!!  Thanks for the info!!!

This call shows up on my caller ID, however, I also have a call history service through Cox.net.  The call don't show up on my call history.  I called cox to find out why this would be and was told that if the call history doesn't catch it it is because the call is coming from outside of the area.  The number showing through on the caller id is fraudulent (which I think is stating the obvious), I believe, however, the call is coming from outside of the country.

Rec'd call on July 6, 2009 @ 4:27 PM PST and today July 10th, 2009 @ 10:09 AM PST.

Both times it was a pre-recorded message saying something about carpet cleaning.  I was too busy to pay attention and h/u both times.  I tried to call the number back both times and got a recording saying the number is disconnected.

I've seen this number on my caller ID a lot, I picked up and it turned out to be a telemarketer for carpet cleaning.  It said to press 1 to order the service and press 8 if you no longer wish to receive the calls.  I pressed 1 so that I could tell them not call.  A female answered and when I asked for a Supervisor she hung up on me.  When I tried to call back, I got a recording that said that the number was no longer in service.

Got the call today at 5:41 PM.  I listened to the entire message from the carpet cleaner and I was given the option to press "8" to be taken off their list.  I am registered on the "Do Not Call" list so I am sure they are in violation by calling me.  I reported the violation using the following procedures:

You can file a complaint by e-mail (fccinfo@fcc.gov), telephone 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY, by fax to 1-866-418-0232, via electronic complaint form at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm, or mail. For the FCC to process your complaint you must either fill in the electronic form completely or otherwise indicate:

your name and address; the home phone number where you received the solicitation; identification of the individual or company whose products or services were being advertised or sold, and any phone numbers included in the call; a description of the call; any phone number provided to allow you to ?opt-out? of future calls; whether you or anyone else in your household gave the caller express prior permission to call; whether you have an EBR with the caller (specifically, whether you or anyone else in your household made any purchases of property, goods, or services from the company that called, or made any inquiry or filed an application with the company prior to receiving the call).

They called yesterday and said nothing, so I preceded to bombard them with the # (pound sign) on my phone. Kept pushing # about 20 times and they never called back. I've been told that that procedure does something to their phone system. Hey, anything's worth a try.

However, if they want to drive up from GA to Virginia Beach, VA and clean my carpets ... I say, "knock yourself out"!  :-)

I've seen this number on my caller ID a lot, but was never home to pick it up.  Today I was, and it turned out to be a telemarketer for carpet cleaning.  It said to press 1 to order the service and press 8 if you no longer wish to receive te calls.  I pressed 1 so that I could tell them that I am on the DNC list.  When the woman answered, I told her, and then I asked for the company name, and the b(&*&h hung up on me.  When I tried to call back, I got a recording that said that the number was no longer in service.
