My children gave blood at their high school and since that time we have been hounded by the Red Cross, sometimes 4 times a week. I have asked them not to call us anymore and they refuse. I was nice about it and told them that if there was another blood drive at the school they would donate but to please not call us any more. After about 20 calls I got ugly. They told me they would not remove our name from the list and I did not have a right to ask them to. My children are minors, so I think I do have a right. I blocked their caller numbers and they just call from another number.

I gave a month ago and they've called me at work every day this week. I finally answered and said, "I got a tattoo." and they haven't called back since. I'm guessing they will next year.

O- is universal donor as anyone can take blood type O and Rh factor plays into it as well. If you have negative Rh factor (O-, A-, B- and AB-) then you can only receive negative blood type, however, if you have Rh+ blood then you can take negative or positive blood. O+ is universal + donor only and often times is next desired after O-. Just wanted to clear that up for everyone! : )

Calls about once a week, calls 2 times right in a row & never leaves a message.

I SUPPOSE IT'S RED CROSS LIKE YOU SAY THEY CALLED THREE DAYS IN A ROW. I GAVE YESTERDAY.THE SAME NUMBER CALLED AGAIN TODAY. I WONDER IF THEY WANT MORE BLOOD.

I used to give blood every chance I got when I was away at school down in the southern Georgia area. I still get constant phone calls from them AND I guess the atlanta Red Cross who I haven't even given blood for. I understand the need and all, but it's pretty annoying and I'm seconds away from just blocking their numbers.

They always call from a different number because they know if you know who it is, you won't answer.

At least leave me a message if I don't answer. Otherwise, DON'T CALL!

Amanda is correct. O negative is "universal donor." And unlike the others, I have proof - took a whole five seconds to look it up!

O + is not the universal donor, O- is the universal donor.
r 2013-05-28 17:49:51 Unknown
If that is the case, you should see a doctor.
Sir Bedevere 2013-05-08 19:46:05 Unknown
0- is the universal donor. (O+ can donate to all Rh-positive blood types but no Rh- types, O- can donate to all blood types, both pos and neg)
MH 2013-05-08 19:40:25 Unknown
Yep, it's because you're O+. They LOVE us "universal donors" and will suck the blood every chance they get! ;-)

Almost 9 pm from the Red Cross. Seriously?! They call twice in 2 minutes daily now. I've already told you I'm not coming back, because I can eat 6k of food the day before and of, drink a gallon of water, and I still faint twice. No THANK YOU.

Red Cross calling to schedule a donation appointment. It is a reminder call that the recovery time period since the last blood donation has passed and since there is always a need for blood in the Metro-Atlanta region, as too many people either don't know how to drive or have no respect for human life (and shoot/stab people), they are always in need of blood and blood products.
McMahon-GA 2013-03-21 17:46:36 Unknown
O+ Blood type is the most desired, as it is the universal donor, and anyone can receive that type. (If there is a trauma accident, and they don't have time for the lab to type and cross-match, they call for the O+ to try and sae the life) I don't know what you want to do, but you are very much needed, so just think it over.
McMahon-GA 2013-03-21 17:42:27 Unknown
You might want to go to the local donation center and ask the manager there, what can be done to take you off their calling list. Just a suggestion.
Molly 2013-03-06 17:26:01 Unknown
do not call me unless you are going to leave a message

They're calling me daily, didn't even get blood out of me yet. Maybe it's being O+? But it's frustrating, no voicemails are left and daily just ain't working...
Wang 2013-02-13 18:07:28 Unknown
Call me more than 5 times last months!
Ughh 2013-02-05 18:58:02 Non-profit Organization
Does anyone know if it is possible to get yourself removed from receiving calls from Red Cross? I'm anemic and cannot donate, but they still call every 3 months even though I told them that I'm anemic
