3. Will an unpaid debt appear on my credit report after the SOL has expired?

Yes. Credit report has no relation with the SOL. You should understand that your creditor has the right to report an unpaid debt to the credit bureaus at any point of time. Therefore, it is quite natural for an expired debt to be present on your credit report.

See link below for great information:
http://www.ovlg.com/laws/statute-of-limitation.html

Statute of Limitations on debt

Consumers often end up paying debts, which they do not need to pay anymore. As per statute of limitations (SOL) on debt, creditors cannot collect debt from consumers after a certain period of time. SOL on a debt, if expired, can protect you when the creditor sues you for non-payment of debt.
Credit reporting time limit and SOL

Many people confuse between credit reporting time limit and SOL. But the only thread that connects credit reporting time and SOL is debt. Credit reporting time essentially refers to the time period during which a delinquent debt stays on your credit report. SOL, on the other hand, is the time limit within which a debt collector can legally force you to pay back the money. After the SOL expires, you have the right of non-payment of debt. Unlike credit reporting time, SOL varies from state to state and starts from the date of last activity on the account.
SOL won?t stop collection activities

Even after the SOL has expired, debt collectors will continue with their collection work. You should understand that if the SOL expires, it won?t bring an end to collection activities. It would just mean that you can justify the non payment of debt by saying that the SOL has expired. Many people are not aware of SOL and pay according to the debt collector?s demand. In case, you move from one state to another, the debt collector may insist on following the SOL of your new state (if it is longer).
SOL-A few facts that you should know

A debt collector can take you to court even when the SOL has expired. However, he cannot win the case.
Even when the SOL has expired, you legitimately owe the debt.
All delinquent accounts will be reported to the credit bureaus even if the SOL has expired.

ok ME...you assume that everyone posting on here is "guilty", it couldn't be that Leading Edge Recovery, is the guilty party for calling old numbers that people that do owe are no longer at. Why harass those who do pay their bills? FYI, if the lawyer does take the job, there is usually no money unless they win.

Telemarketer
I was called by 773-380-3199 who left a message reporting to me that they were a "debt collector".  I looked into the number and it seems to be a telemarketer.  I am not calling it back because I have not debt, have always paid off those I own money to and know of no debt that I might owe.
This is not the way to collect a debt anyway.  I would assume I would get a letter, or email notification first.  Not happening and I will not return the call and have marked it as "Do Not Answer".

I have received calls from this telephone number every day at different hours, 7:00am, 6:00pm and even 2:00 am.  A recorded message from ADT Security Company, appear to be female with Mexican accent.  Always the same message, claiming that our security system have a battery failure. I spoke with ADT costumer service employee and he replay that the call was no coming from them.

I just got a call from this company, but didn't answer because 90% of the calls we get are those scam calls that claim to lower your credit card interest. They left a message on the machine and said they were looking for my brother's wife's sister, who has never lived with us and I've only ever even met once. I have no idea how they got this number for her, but I doubt they'll believe me if I tell them that. I don't even have her phone number, since she's still pretty much a stranger to our side of the family.

You will find they eventually quit calling if you leave it to question if you are even at that number. Just leave your phone in the standard answer of your number and leave a mse. Don't tell them who's cell or residence they just called. That tells them they are on the right tract at the start so they try harder.

Also remember there is a glut of these bad debts out ther like never before in history so don't be an easy target. They will find plenty of those without you being one. They are looking to make money so jumping through hoops costs money.

Hi,
My name is Vanessa Wilkens, call me back at 888-306-0497. But the call came from 773-380-3199. There was a long silence before and after she spoke, as if the line was just dead air.

This is definitely a collection agency. I owe nobody and have no debt so the daily calls are getting old. They do have a web site at http://www.leadingedgerecovery.com/ and there is a form to fill out in the "Consumer Help Center" under their "Contact Us" menu that should allow you to stop receiving calls.

It does absolutely no good to report it to the do not call list. I have contacted them repeatedly, all they do is put it into a database. That is why these people continue to call, they know our government does nothing about it.

caller id-lers-773-380-3199 (from 'hank samon');  another call from #888-306-0428-from a 'richard silver'--same voice for both.    Leading edge recovery solutions for both #s.  fdcpa violation-if they call on sunday, call more than once a day, more than 17 times a month (like each day-harrassment); if they're affiliated with nco I wouldn't be suprised-oh, they are.

Wow, the loser named 'Me' is a total do***e bag.  What an ignorant assumption, but then again that does not surprise me because the only people that work at collection agencies are ignorant do***e bags that can't get a real job.  They prey on those that have fallen on hard times.  Yes, there are SOME people that borrowed more than they should have, and then there are the millions and millions that have been laid off or had to take huge pay cuts.  My industry had the government come in and screw things up to the point where all of us had to take a 40% pay cut.  Do the math do***e bag....if I am making 60k an year for several years and then drop to 36k a year, how is that MY fault?  How do I pay all my bills after a loss in income like that?  What, I should just walk away from my house?  Should I stop feeding my family?  It is not like I could just sell my house, because that lost value too.  I would have to come to the table with money I do not have.

Therefore, I pay what I can, the necessities.  I pay the mortgage, I keep the utilities on, and I keep food on the table.  We have not had a family vacation in over 5 years.  Both of our cars are 10 years old.  I have business expenses that are not just going to go away because the economy went in the tank.  I tried everything I could to work out deals and every single one of my CC companies said 'no'.  They refused to work with me, so %$^& them!  I tried to do everything I possible could do, but they refused.  Two of them tried to take me to court, so I went and fought them and won.  I showed proof I tried to make payments and I had taped phone conversations (which are legal in my state) that I tried to work out a deal.  The judge threw both cases out and told them not to file again or he would throw them out again.

So, what do they do, they sell the debt to POS like this comapny in hopes they can collect anything.  LOL, I tried to give you money you idiots, but you refused.  Now, you are willing to settle for 25% of the debt.....idiots, they are all idiots.  Why do you think we had to bail them out in the first place?  Because their companies are run by idiots.  When you refuse to take a lower payment from a customer and then are willing to settle for 25% of the debt 2 years later, that is just idiotic!!!!!  They would have received a lot more money then that had they accepted my deal.  Eventually, I will get back on my feet and I would have started paying more.  But now, they can go screw themselves for the way they treated me and how they tried to handle it.
