We keep getting calls from this number, several times a day.
It reads Charity Clothing on the caller id.  When I call back, it answers,
and then beeps like it is dialing.

They called me all the time!!  I get three to five calls from them throughout the day!  I finally answered it on Feb. 19th and they id. themselves as Purple Heart and said they were going to be picking up clothes on Friday, Feb. 22. I told them I have nothing.  They called four times on Feb. 20th and on the fifth call I picked up and the woman said they were going to be in the neighborhood a week from Wed. (not Fri.).  I kindly requested they take me off their list, as I'm on the "Do-Not-Call" list.  I find it a little odd that a charity would call so many times a day, and even odder that they would call back the next day, after I told them I had nothing to donate...and even stranger that they would provide a different pick-up date.  Seems like they are calling to see who's home and when.

Like others, have received calls (no messages) on my caller ID for CHARITY CLOTHING using all of the following numbers (have been keeping track lately after noticing several posts on this subject):

773.394 and all of the following final four digit combos besides 7342 are:
8125, 3353, 2042, 7107 and 8459

These people will not stop calling! I keep asking them to take me off their list. It's been over 3 years and they still call almost daily.

I've gotten calls from this organization, "Charity Clothing," several times in the last couple weeks.  They call at all times of the day -- early morning (around 8 a.m.), afternoon, and evening.  So far, they've called from three different numbers, all identified as "Charity Clothing."  (773-394-7342, -8394, and -8532).  I told them to take my name off their list.  If they continue to call, I'm going to report them to the BBB.  When I told the lady to remove my name from her list, she persisted by saying, "I understand, I just need to verify your address."  And she kept interrupting me when I told her NO.

I don't kn ow what kind of organization this is!!! I used to get calls from them constantly, and when I finally told them to come and spent my time getting my things together to donate....They never bothered showing up. So I called them, and they said that they will come for sure this time....and AGAIN no one ever showed up!!! When you call them there is no answer on the phone. Why do they call constantly to confirm your address, and then never come to pick up the things you donate to help the needy??? They are probably some kind of scam artists! Someone should report them!!!!!!!!!

This company "Charity Clothing" is a FOR PROFIT company (see this link: http://chicago.everyblock.com/business-licenses/by-date/2009/11/16/2617005/).

They have contracts with various "non-profits" to do calls for them if the non-profit does not have their own call center.

According to the FCC, even if they are calling on the behalf of a non-profit, they still must adhere to the "Do-Not-Call" list (see "Exempt Organizations - What is an Exempt Organization?" on this site: https://www.donotcall.gov/faq/faqbusiness.aspx).  They specifically state on that site:"If you are a for-profit telemarketer, you are NOT an Exempt Organization, even if you call consumers on behalf of an Exempt Organization, such as a non-profit. See, e.g., National Federation of The Blind v. FTC, 420 F.3d 331 (4th Cir. 2005)."

Feel free to report these people and demand that they not call you per the FCC rules.

I found out tonight that the name of the Not-for-Profit is America's Disabled, Inc.  Their website is:  physicianamericanhomevisits.org.  The gal I spoke with at 773-394-8828?, said that the proceeds they get from selling the clothing they pick up go for doctors who make house calls on those disabled, seniors, and homebound persons. I checked online at the Illinois Secretary of State's site, http://www.ilsos.gov/corporatellc/CorporateLlcController.  
They are registered as Not-for-Profit, and they are in good standing with the state.
