Thank you for your insight.  You are absolutely right.  There's no way on earth that I would change my electrical service provider to such a sleazy, fraudulent company.  Hope others read your comment before changing their service to "save money" on their electric bills!

Get calls from this number, 773-555-1685, 773-555-6175 and 847-555-0423 daily along with other calls.  Caller ID says "Dir Asst IL".  I've answered a couple of them.  Recorded message, wanting me to change my electric service.  I'm so sick and tired of all these annoying calls, I wish I could get rid of my phone!  Today, I tried calling the numbers back and was told to check the number and try calling again or I get a rapid busy signal.

Thanks Alberto, I think you hit the nail on the head about these calls.  In fact, they just arrested 5 people in my neighborhood for soliciting a new energy source in my neighborhood without a permit.  Hope no one gives these people any personal information.


I get about 10 or more unsolicited phone calls a day.  I'm on the National Do Not Call List, but that doesn't help.  I've reported numbers--doesn't help.  They just get a new phone number and try again.  Wish it would stop.  I've resorted to picking up and hanging up immediately without listening to who it is, unless I know the phone number/caller ID.  Hopefully, I'm not hanging up on important calls!

773-555-1685, keeps calling everyday. Because of "555" I do not answer. No voice mail. On Caller ID says "DIR ASSIST IL". Spam of course.

Keep filing reports with FTC that is the nly way to get these guys!

These are fraudulent, insistent recorded calls from
Energy Choice telemarketers, using 773-555-1685, a
spoofed number. They are trying to persuade people
to switch their electric provider.

After the recoring the ask for your ComEd (Commonwealth
Edison) account number so that they can look up your
usage and provide an estimate of how much you can
expect to save with them.

But would you trust the promises from a company,
like this Electric Choice, who chooses to hide
behind a spoofed number such as 773-555-1685?
or 312-555-3028, the number they were using
last week?

Energy Choice has been using these numbers
and similar 555-numbers apparently because
they do not respect the donotcall.gov list.
Such 555-numbers numbers are usually "one way numbers",
reserved for special services such as directory assistance,
and cannot be called back.

These unscrupulous, unpleasant telemarketers from Energy Choice are calling us twice every week day!  

I wish they would read this web page,realize how much people dislike their actions, and change their method of contacting people.

Funny how they spoof numbers that aren't legitimate. The "555" prefix is used in movies to prevent people from dialing real people's numbers. This was put in place after the song "Jenny," or as it's more popularly known, "867-5309" came out because people all over the nation began calling the number and asking for "Jenny."

So, I know that whoever is using this number is not a legitimate company because of the prefix. I really wish there was a way to stop these bogus companies. Too bad this country is too screwed up to put a permanent stop to these types of things.

They called today and wanted our account nummber for com ed.  and wanted personal information

A few hours later I get another call with the same name on the caller ID, but a different number.    Robot call stating I can lower my electric bill.   I think the same jerkoffs are using other numbers also.

This number calls me twice a day.  It's a recorded message asking me to saving on my electric bill.  The first time it called today, I pressed 0 and it connected me to a customer service rep named Missy.  As I was telling her to remove me from their call list she rudely hung up as I was speaking.  The second time they called I decided to play their game.  I was able to keep them on the phone for 7 minutes before they hung up.  They asked me for my electric bill number and I gave them a fake one.  I gave them all of my fake information and it was only until I started to use sexual language she hung up.  It was kind of fun.  Maybe if more people waste their time this way they will stop calling.

Got a call twice today, no answer on the other line. When we call back it says the number is not in service

Got a phone call twice tonight, picked up and had no answer both times. I didn't think 555 numbers were legit (only see them in the movies)

i did not say anything.  also silence on the other end.

deep voice guy told my 11 year old we didn't pay our electric bills and some other stuff.  Tried to call it back and said it was out of service number.

Yes, I got one today. I thought 555 was the sign of a fake number. And yes, we call directory assistance, they don't call us, so whyever would I answer?

I am unlisted and on the do not call list so how is it I keep getting bs calls!?!?!?!
