They also called me yesterday, it showed up as Illinois call.  When I answered it was a recording saying I had won a free trip.  It asked me to call 18007637417.  When I called that number I got an answering machine.  Now today that 1800 number doesn't work.  Sounds like a possible scam?

Just got a call this morning that I had won a car in a Great Outdoors Sweepstake and to call Tim Anderson at an 800 number.  I did not enter a sweepstakes, so did not call back.  I, too, am on the do not call list.  A lot of good that does...it's just like every other government program...poorly run.

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

The DoNotCall Registry is alive and well. Problem is, it works on voluntary compliance just like speed limit signs on roads. Honest telemarketers honor the DoNotCall Registry, abusive telemarketers and scammers do not.

Just got a call from this number with the same message about winning a sweepstakes I entered with prizes including a Ford Escape hybride and to call Tim Anderson at some 800 number.  I don't enter sweepstakes and I'm not calling back.  Like binky, I'm wondering what happened to the do-not-call list!

Left a prerecorded message saying I won a prize in a drawing I entered. I do not enter drawings period!  Don't know who the company is but have a feeling they are scam artist. Left a number 877-249-9432 and a name of Eric Williamson to call for details on my prize. I will not be calling.
