I just received 3 calls from this number, only the person on the other end spoke spanish.  I am grateful that others have dealt with this number as  I was worried that it was a family member.  Thanks for the postings.

We also received two calls from this number saying it was from Cook County prison and we needed to dial a number and ask for Christie.  If we had not read the message above we would have done it.

I received 2 calls at my home from 773-847-9123 and then from 773-847-8950. The caller ID says "PRISON" when they call. I answered and they said that someone was in a wreck near Houston and that they gave my number as their contact number.  They gave me a number to call a "police officer that was handling the report."  The number he gave me was *72-1-773-699-55783. I did a search, and it sounds like it's a scam.  If you dial *72 and then a number, your phone calls are being forwarded to someone else.  Inmates will forward someone's phone number to a person they want to talk to and call it so that person they are calling doesn't get charged for accepting the prison call.
