I just filed a complaint with the FTC. Nothing will get done unless you do the same. You do not need to leave any contact info.
Just fill it out. Takes two min.

They call my cell phone and hang up before I can answer.
cathy 2014-05-27 19:15:49 Unknown
same deal. Every so often the calls start coming in daily then they stop. I never answer them since I do not recognize the #. Based on the above, I'm glad I didn't answer.

The recording said I had won the free Carnival Cruise Line prize that I had signed up for! Really?? You couldn't get me on a cruise for love or money and I NEVER sign up or take chances on anything like that as I know they just use that information to annoy you. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM!

Worse, using this number along with 773-231-5416 claiming to be from The University of Chicago, these thieves were trying to place an exceptionally large order with my company!
Return email address is: procurementservice@uchicagoed.us; for which the URL address, "uchicagoed.us", is registers through Ireland stating to be a bogus "Amazon" company! (via WHOIS... http://cqcounter.com/whois/)
What's even funnier, when I've had time to 'play their game', and tell them to enter the order On-line, I get replies, "My computer is not working and must email you my credit card info!" --Get the joke?? ...The computer isn't working but they keep emailing me!! --Give me a break, especially if they are supposedly the University of Chicago!! LMFAO!!

Bob 2013-03-16 21:39:55 Unknown
It's a scam group that uses rented virtual phone numbers in the US that are routed from outside the US which is why a lot of you are getting the static and the communications problems.
Best way to deal with them is to add the number to your contacts as "Scammers" or "ID Theft" or whatever will alert you to their intentions and either block the number or ignore it when they call. They will use the same virtual number until they get shutdown by the FTC or the phone company, usually 2-3 months before switching to a new number.

It is a SCAM! Anytime someone tells you that you have won something (whether it is money or an electronic or whatever kind of item..) and they say all you have to do is pay some amount to receive it, then it is a scam! You will have to give them the $6.95 from your debit or credit card, then once they have your information they will use it to buy things for themselves, or they will sell your number to other people who will buy things with it. Don't fall for it!

These people called and I ignored the call and called from a land line. I asked to speak to a manager and they gave me a toll free number to call that doesn't work and then I asked for a website I could have but they apparently cant give it out until we hear what they have to say. So I then asked to be removed from the calling list and asked how they got my number and he rambled about how it was because I used my visa or mastercard to purchase something and I don't even have one. So he went on saying oh but on our records you show purchasing item with visa. Seriously who do they think they are.
Roxanne 2013-02-28 22:53:29 Unknown
I chose to ignore the call especially since it was from Chicago, IL. I do not know anyone from that area
niki 2013-02-27 20:41:58 Unknown

Has called 3 days in a row, at different times of day. Every time a man is saying "hello? hello?" and it sounds like there is a lot of static, then the call disconnects. It seems to be a recording, and nothing else is ever said. If I do not answer, no voicemail is left.
