I've received multiple such calls in a row, despite telling them that they have the wrong number (they are asking for someone named 'Francis'.). Each time, the caller is someone with a thick Middle Eastern or Indian accent. The last caller identified himself as Alan Johnson.

Over the course of several calls, I was able to find out that the company is "US Federal Loan". The only identifying information on Caller ID is "(202) 436-9002 DC, USA".

The last time they called I told them?once again?that they had the wrong number. They called me a "mother f****r" and hung up on me.

Caller was telling me I won a free grant - I had to provide a few pieces of information.  She had most of my information.  I would not provide anything additional, so I did not get the phone number to call in order to claim my money.

I got a call at 11:50 pm. It was a guy name jason.(atleast that is what he told me). They knew my name and address but wanted my age. Told me I had a government grant for $5,000. I could use it too pay off bills, loans,.....etc. It was tax free money. He gave me a conformation code and told me to call (202)621-0889 and tell then spicks and give them the conformationation code. I kind of lied and told him I was a cop that recorded these scams......he must have had no sense. Told me it was true......lol. I finally hung up on him....

I am so glad of sites like this! We all need to stick together and inform each other of these scams. I just got my first and hopefully my last call from this number. Nobody was on the line when I answered. With the information provided by all of you I will know what to say expect the next time they call.
Thank you

Yeah I got a phone call from these idiot's. I have gotten about three a day for the past week. I do not let them start I just tell them that I do not need a loan and to stop calling me but that hasn't helped. They have hung up on me when I tell them that I'm going to report them.

I hope that no one gives into this scam.

Got the same call regarding the $7000. Gave me another number to call 206-866-5571. They state that they are from the U.S. Grants department. They even provided a valid website to visit-grants.gov- which is a legitimate company. So for haha's I called the 206 number, and was told that I had to give a $199 security deposit to get my $7000. They want you to call them when you get to the Western Union for the payment details. I then called the grants.gov company and asked them about this and was told that yes this was a scam and to report them to the state of NJ consumer affairs. These people need to be shut down.

Recieved a call from a lady with an indian accent told me the same mumbo jumbo as everyone else.  Hell she had even given me the address for the HHS Department.  The person i was supposed to call is a Kevin Johnson 202-621-0971.  The Nevada area code gives it away.

I got a phone call from this number telling me that I had won 5000 like everyone else said that they did and they told me to call John Spencer and give him a claim number after telling me my address which was not correct and asking my age they told me to call him ASAP... >_>;;; I am not an idiot and so I did not call...but why are they calling me? I mean how did they get my number and my name when I had it changed because a previous call had threatened my life...I didn't even do business with the so called "Bank" that had called me.

Dont listen to them, its a scam. UGH...Time to change my number AGAIN. -_________-;;;;

I received a call from this number. They asked me my name, then proceeded to tell me my address, date of birth, and said i had won a $5000 grant from the national treasury. This was based on the fact that I had no criminal history, lived in a small demographic area, and had not filed for chapter 13. Scary part Its all true. How did they get my info? I tried to call the number back no one answered. The number they called from was the 775-841-5525.

(same situation as a previous lister... but I did not get the follow up phone number because I would not provide them with any information they didnt already have... Where do they get this information?)

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-a-loan scam, the only difference is it's a grant instead of a loan, as described here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel16.shtm which states "It is illegal for companies doing business in the U.S. by phone to promise you a loan and ask you to pay for it before they deliver." They will want you to give them your credit/debt card info or wire the money via Western Union (Moneygram, etc.) because wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and the scammers will vanish on you. Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG.

I recieved a call from this number. They asked me my name, then proceded to tell me my address, date of birth, and said i had won a $5000 grant from the national treasury. This was based on the fact that I had no criminal history, lived in a small demographic area, and had not filed for chapter 13. Ummm scary part Its all true. Bow did they get my info? I tried to call the number back no one answered. The number they called from was the 775-841-5525 and said his name was Jason Parjar, then told me to call Alvina to get the grant and which school to send it to. He told me to call 202-436-9734. Alvina picked up immediatly but this was a DC number not a NV number which is where the call originated from. So I come home and check this site, its a scam. But how did they get SOOOOO MUCH info with out me telling them, like name address, DOB? The rest is almost common logic at my age.
