I have received multiple(!) phone calls from this number during the last week, but there is no sound from the other end (no voice, no fax). I challenge the "caller" to speak, but nothing is said. It then hangs up. I am local to Carson City area.

Claimed we were delinquent on a loan with the National Loan Company, and we could settle for $350 if we wired the money to Helen Provencal out of New Hampshire.  Once we caught wind it was a scam and canceled the wire, he called with more threats.  This is a total scam, why are people being allowed to do such things.  This is total B***s*** !!! Someone catch this loser... As for us, we are aware now, and jerks like this need to know not to mess with our family !!

My mother in law was contacted by this individual last night claiming he was from Ken Thompson Law Firm.  He told her that she was going to be sued, and to avoid going to court in Carson City Nevada by paying $350 via Western Union immediately (or she would be later sued for over $7000).  She was scared and paid the money, however once we got wind of it, we told her to go back to western union and let them know.  They refunded her, and advised she report this to the FBI, they are also investigating this for her.  She blocked his number however she gave him our phone number yesterday and he did call again this morning.  Still threatening to sue her, I got on the phone and let him know if this is official business he can send something certified mail, or have her served.  He didn't like my attitude and hung up.  The information I have specific to this incidient is that he had her wire money to a person by the name of Helen Provencal in New Hampshire, and said this is related to a default through the National Loan Company (which we can not find any information regarding).  The phone number he called us from and is answering today is 775-297-0610.  I hope this helps you Det. i was called by a man claiming to be vincent chhabria.he gave me a bar number2#08557 saying he had a suit againest my social security number regarding a payday loan for 300.00.when i asked what the loan companys name was all he would say was national loan.He said the law firm was in carson city nevada, but he wanted me to send a moneygram to a tremaine forbers in moscow tennesse,along with a copy of my photo id. the fax number was 7752970611.

Block his number and report the wimp.

He called me too and when I told him I knew it was a scam and I was calling the FTC he told me he was going to kill me and my family.

phone #(775)297-0610  Winston Chabria called me with bar # 2"8557 and a case #.  Said I had a suit against my ssn and wouldn't tell me who was sueing me.  When I refused to let him read his affidavit, or give him any info, he said it was like talking to a 9 yr old and hung up on me.  That's when I looked his name up on line and found this info.  Same man different #.  He did say he was with Ken Thompson law firm.  12/7/12

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I received the same phone call on my voicemail this afternoon from Winston Chaundra representing the Law Offices of Ken Thompson. Stating I would be served a summons on 10/9/12 and my court date was already set for 10/12/12. My ex-husband happens to be a deputy for the county I live in and I already know that a bad debt is not a criminal suit it is a civil suit and that no one will come after you. So out of curiosity I called my ex and asked him to look to see if there was any information with in the court system regarding an upcoming date, and of course there was not. I no longer have an outstanding payday loan. Only advice I can give is get the loan companies information from this Winston character and call the company yourself. Hopefully the investigations against this man will progress and catch him quickly. Do not send him any money and if you have to speak to him ask him to fax, mail etc... all paperwork to you, so that you can contact the company yourself that you supposedly owe money to and that you will settle with the company not him and his SCAM.

I received a call today from this same Winston character who seemed to be Indian from phone 7759960236 claiming he was calling on behalf of a law office. That I was being charged on three accounts of fraud for internet fraud. Supposedly being taken to court within a few days for a loan with NATIONAL LOAN. He had my name and date of birth. But refused to answer by questions of mail me anything (because they dont have a mailing address I assume). He claimed if I paid the $300 the law suit would be dropped. BIG SCAM

this man Wilson Chambria has called me 18 times telling me he is representing ken thompson law firm and i am being sued on my ss# for $7000 but can settle for $300. He even gave me a name in houston texas to western union the money to. Can we not put a stop to him?

The investigation to this point is going well. I have spoken to the victim who's name and bar number has been used during the execution of these crimes. He is NOT the perpetrator of these calls. I am currently working with Federal Officials including the FBI, FTC, ICE, and others to capture the actual individual responsible. Again, I am strongly warning all individuals, DO NOT respond to this individual's messages, do not speak to him, do not respond to any electronic messages and/ or faxes. He is at this point a Federal Criminal.

I recieved this call 17 times in one week, i sent them to voicemail for the past 6 days because i dont answer for collect calls. I finally decided to give him a call around 2pm today since he (claim i had to speak with him by 5) just wanted to speak with me about whatever he felt was important after doing so i checked my voicemail and here what it says his name is Wilson Chambria or something like that saying im being sued for fraud on my ssn and internet fraud, and that i needed to contact asap its the last day; speaking with him he said that he has 3 charges against me one being internet fraud and the other i cant remember because i started telling him off. He then stated that his client ken thompson would drop all the charges if i would pay the 300$ today from the payday loan that i received. and that if i didnt then him and his client would take me to court on fraudulent charges. How do we stop these people they keep calling me saying the same thing as above. I have no loan with this company and Wilson Chabria called me. Stating I was going be be served papers at my house. I received a call from this number today regarding a payday loan that I supposedly got from National Loans for $300.  They told me that after 5pm, they would take legal actions and I would have a court date of September 24 at 5pm.  They said they would send information to my job and address and that if I did not have a laywer, the court will rule in their favor and I would have to pay $7682 and do 7 months in jail.  I told them to fax me the hard copy legal information but all they sent was a cover sheet and some paper with my name and what I supposedly owe but the total on this form is $957 with an original debt of $300.  I looked online under nation loans and it states that do not contact you about your loan or your status and if someone representing them calls you, to contact your local law enforcement.

I received the same phone call claiming they were going to sue me over online payday loan I did not receive. After listening to what the guy had to say, I told him to never call my number again or I would sue him for harassment. Stated he was from a Ken Thompson law firm at this number. Can I sue him?

My wife got a call from this number and the person identified himself as Wilson Chabria. I am a Police Detective, and have launched an investigation against this individual of whom provided an Attorney's Bar number that isn't his, and preliminary investigations have already revealed that this is not a legitimate business. Furthermore, I am advising that NO ONE provide any associate from this fraudulent company any monies, and DO NOT provide them any of your information. Also, do not allow them to threaten you with any type of criminal and/ or civil litigation.
